As someone who drove beforehand and needed to fix a few issues here and there for not driving for some time, I decided to pay the adult education course offered at ABC Drivers Ed. Despite my early attempts to understand the direction of the teaching approach of my instructor Donny and the overall course, I was unable to achieve my goal at this time. I received shallow and obscure response and direction. Whenever I insisted to know what's going on, Donny never gave me a clear answer. It was pretty frustrating but I decided to be flexible. My bad. I wanted to complete a class for an hour a week, but Donny often offered to complete the class in two (2) hours. I don't think that's healthy and fair for a student. Personally, I felt pressured by Donny to complete as many hours as possible in a short period of time. I quite never understood the rush. He also often asked me to complete many hours in a week, even though I kept saying I'm unavailable. If I have to do it again, I will make my booking directly from the website, be more private about my personal driving practice and do not ask to drive more than an hour in one session. It didn't even make sense to me when he asked me to drive additional hours since I drove him for hours around town at least once and we went on the highway more than once. He was telling me how I was doing a good job and all. Very deceiving. In fact, Donny almost puts our lives in danger at one time as I blindly followed his driving instructions on a highway. My learning experience with Donny was unsatisfactory and poor because I left somewhat unsure about my driving skills even after the hours paid for my adult driving education course from ABC Drivers Ed. Donny said I have to learn one or two things but he actually fails to give the tools to achieve that while I was taking the course with him. He come across as courteous and friendly but as a teacher at a core, I won't recommend him unless you're ready to give him more money by paying additional driving classes. Reflecting back, I think since the beginning, his business objective was to get me to pay additional hours and earn more money that way because the charge is much higher. To be honest with you, I felt ripped off for my time and money by Donny and ABC Drivers Ed.

Had to pay an additional $30 at the MVD to take the test, on top of the price for the permit. Apparently they need "evidence that she has some idea of how to drive before giving her one." That is laaaaaaaaame. Other classes include the test, as the MVD staff said they generally upload the test results to the database. Not this one, apparently. So what was the point of this class if it doesn't include evidence of "some idea of how to drive" for a dang LEARNER'S permit?? To boot, my kid commented that a fair amount of time was spent by the instructor plugging his book. I could've taught my kid the basic rules of driving to prepare her for taking a test. I really don't know what I paid this company for.

The earliest one they will offer you will be at least a month away. Read that gain, yes, at least a month out. Since you can only schedule one appointment at a time, you will need at least seven months to get this over. This is completely unacceptable. You don't run a business like that. People paid for the class, and you need to provide your service in a timely manner. By the way, if you can't complete your seven driving lessons in a year, you will need to pay extra money for each lesson. That's right, they delay the scheduling so that you won't be able to complete your lessons, and you will end up paying more.

They were always accommodating of scheduling issues, knowledgeable in how to navigate the mvd licensing system as a non-minor, and took the time to know us and our specific needs as individuals. And now, a few months out from when I took the class and got my license, I can say with absolute confidence that Coach Eddie and the staff at coach Al's driving school went above and beyond to set me up for success. Tough but fair and caring, they made sure we were ready to drive with confidence in ourselves and our abilities. Whenever I drive I think of the lessons and advice coach gave us and know that I'm a better driver for it. I can't recommend them more, especially if you're an adult learner.

(It had been 9 hours since he said he'd call back in an hour.) I have yet to have any of the 5 remaining lessons I am owed, and honestly, I don't intend to. He has been nothing but rude, unprofessional, and flaky since our first 2 lessons. I don't know what happened to make him flip so suddenly, but I am extremely displeased and offended by his conduct. My child begged me not to let him drive with David because his driving lessons consisted of David having him go through drive-thrus for coffee, fast food, etc., collecting information on houses for sale, getting gas for the drivers ed car, and other frivolous errands while David was on the phone during the "hour" (never a full hour because David was always late) of instruction. I wanted to drive 10-12 hours a week and they made it happen. Back and forth to work, amazing, picturesque long excursions to Breath taking sights. They are both walking encyclopedias and know so much about the land and its history. Meanwhile, drilling me to hold my lane on mountainous curves to "sacred lands" and Seeing very far ahead of me to make lane changing decisions on the highway. Lisa made sure I understood everything! She made signaling a habit. She made me change lanes on the highway continually, until it felt second nature. She told me, "You will pass the New York City Drivers test. And within 2 months of getting my permit and not knowing how to drive, I passed. I told her, I don't just want to pass. I want to be safe enough to drive my son. Teach me that. When I'm driving on the highway, I always hear Lisa's voice - change to the middle lane, an accident on the shoulder. Take your foot off the gas on the curve, get out of his blind spot, maintain your lane. You see Lisa, you're still always keeping me focused! When I objected to the $250 fee and was walking away to take my business elsewhere, the drive instructor tried to goad me into a fight, saying "don't walk away, turn around," and "come at me, bro." They don't get it. Their lack of professionalism is why I am going to another place for my driver hours and none of my younger children or friends will be going here. Even if the guy wasn't 6'2" and 250 lb, I wouldn't fight him. These people are the epitome of unprofessional bullies.

I had an unexpected accident that made me temporarily bed-ridden while awaited surgery. The judge was gracious in extending my deadline and also recommended I take an online course available by other driving schools. I called TLC and explained my situation. Since they didn't offer the online course, I asked for my refund so I could register elsewhere. He was very rude and refused to return the fee even in the case of a MEDICAL EMERGENCY!!! That's pretty LOW!!!!!!! They don't even deserve the one-star rating I gave them!
