Note: this review is specifically for the Los Gatos camp. I wanted to love this bootcamp; I really did. The location is so incredibly convenient - right in front of the Los Gatos Civic Center! For me, it doesn't get much better than that. However, it's just not a good value for the money. The Los Gatos camp meets only 3x/week (M/W/F) for 45 min/session. The 45 minute session includes a good 10 minutes of warm-up and cool-down. At least 50% of the time, I had barely broken a sweat by the time we disbanded. At a regular (non-discounted) price of $250/month, I just wasn't getting enough return on my investment. The instructors are really nice, though. read more

If you ever told me I would be writing a good review about ANYTHING that involved me doing push ups I would suggest you might have been smoking crack. That's how awesome Be Fit is - I have to give five stars to a company that has inserted the phrase 'cardio break' in my life. Why? Shall I count the ways? The teachers rock: I cannot say enough good things about Mike, Jeff and Matt. They remember everyone's name, they're have no problem laughing at themselves and they're encouraging without being terrifying. This is a super-supportive, push-your-limits thing. Not a 'let's see who vomits first' type affair. Plenty of dates and times: Sometimes I want to get up at 6 and get it over with. Other times I want to wait until after work. I have all of these options and it's held all over San Jose and Los Gatos so you're flexible. The workouts: it pains The Old Finn to say this but the workouts are (gasp...) fun. And they change it up constantly. You can do just about anything for two minutes and they know that. And they do keep it different. We were chucking pumpkins at each other on Halloween and Matt has us rugby drills. My butt: after a couple of months of Be Fit, I have an enviable butt. It's perky. It's happy. It's not sitting on my thighs. When I first started going I couldn't run the football field. Now I own that b*tch. Twice. With a jump rope. It's all levels: I'm an an asthmatic cancer survivor with a tricky shoulder and cranky knees. The teachers are awesome about modifying things for everyone's level if you ask. Just ask. Run your own damn race and don't worry about what everyone else is doing - as a whole, the group is super supportive and even if you're doing something different or less challenging than everyone else, no one is thinking less of you. If you're looking for a fun, outdoor workout, you got to try this. Even if, like me, you're not a fitness person and might have a case of Pancake Butt you need to work on. read more

The class is only 45 minutes three days a week, but everytime class is over my body feels like jelly- having worked every muscle in my body! I consider myself an active person always looking for the next challenge. Boot camps are great to get you to the next level. And I have tried several different ones. This particular boot camp put me off right away.. even before the workout? After many phone calls I was finally able to get into a orientation session (a month after my purchase). Orientation took over an hour - mostly making sure we did what they say. Waste of time.. The classes are led by different people each day during the week, and the classes are large 20-30 people (too many for focused weight/strength work). The coaches seemed pretty distracted too. Maybe they need a reminder -- these are people that want to get in shape -- but not get hurt in the process.. Also If you go in on a deal (groupon/living social) - they just spend their time marketing to you.. If your program helps the person feel included, and they see results - you will get committment from them. Thankfully I had 1 good workout... thanks Justin. read more

I m a couch potato who is not motivated enough to go to gym everyday. So, i decided to try an outdoor boot camp to break the monotony of gym and get my fitness routine kick started. I purchased a Groupon deal ($25- 3 weeks of unlimited boot camp) and it turned out to be an awesome buy. Coaches here are great, very motivating, push you hard but also make sure that you do not get hurt/sore in the process. Each class is a 45 mins long session, a combination of cardio and strength training. Exercises are carefully chosen to ensure you move almost all muscles in your body. Ideal for beginners and variation in exercises are taught for hard core fitness freaks. Also, the circuit training format helps to keep the metabolism high and variety in exercises keeps the interest and motivation kicking. Access to videos on health, a guide on healthy eating and general emotional/motivational email and reading material helps you stay on track. All in all, a must try especially in Summers when the weather is perfect for some outdoor activity. I really admire all the coaches for their guidance, everyone's style is distinct and Audra and Cathy are my favourite! Why am I holding one star back? Two reasons. 1 ) Sessions can be upto 1 hour as 10-15 mins are spent warming up and cooling down. 2) A little pricey, if you don't have a deal. I would love to join again but anything over $100/month compared $15/month in gym is a little over my budget. But that being said, if you can afford it... it's a MUST MUST TRY! Also, special thanks to Audra, for keeping me motivated and for keeping me on track! My experience was nice, but this Boot Camp is for trained and experienced people, who wants to challenge themselves with extra workout and hard exercises. Not for beginners as I am! They do advertise - better than Personal Trainer (cheaper) and better than gym... but it's hard to believe. No personal attention, expect when they yell your name to run faster and do faster burpees... will continue with classes and other equipment at my regular gym ;-) read more

I really had good time for first few months until Mike and team were there, but, things changed completely after he left. I had signed up an yearly contract based on what saw during the 6 weeks of evaluation period. Starting November, I suddenly saw a drop in energy and fewer and fewer people attending the boot camp . In December , they just had one trainer and if she had any conflict they kept canceling the boot camp at a short notice and I really got frustrated when they shut down 2nd half of December when I really wanted to workout during the slow holiday time. I still gave benefit of doubt and thought of continuing , but , I had to change my job and move out of the south bay .. Here came the worst nightmare ... I told them on January 14th that I would like to cancel my contract since I am moving out . They didn't respond for many weeks and after multiple follow up, they started counting and showing contact rules and asking for everything that they can ask per contract. They didn't show any consideration that I was barely able to use their service in December due to they cancellations and they were not providing the quality of services they showed during the evaluation period.. They charged 2 month's fees after I requested cancellation, $100 cancellation fees and $32 per months for six months extra charge since I requested to cancel after 6 months . Very poor communication , customer service and unfair practices . I recommend you stay away from any of the services . read more

Amazing boot camp!!!! I was a member at Be Fit for a little over a year. I had to leave because I've moved up to Union City. This boot camp totally helped turn my life around. In one year I lost 60lbs, gained amazing strength, and a lot of confidence. I was extremely out of shape when I first joined; couldn't even complete one real burpee or one real sit up. The trainers made me feel totally comfortable and always had modifications ready so the entire workout was attainable. I've only experienced friendly classmates and I have never felt judged. Their prices are VERY reasonable as I had to look for a new boot camp since moving. You won't regret putting your time and effort into this boot camp! read more

We had a great workout (WOW) this morning! What I remember the most was doing the weighted squat presses. I was getting pretty sloppy on them (it was probably like the third or fourth round) and I was leaning forward on my squats. Katie pointed it out to me, but I really didn't think I could do them right anymore. I felt exhausted. So, Chloie came up and got in front of me so that I couldn't lean forward and said "now do them right". I seriously didn't think I could, but somehow I got the 10 done correctly and Chloie said "see Richard you can do it!" In my opinion, this is what boot camp is all about. You guys teaching us that we can go beyond what we think our limits are and understanding how our bodies work and how to make them better. You have a wonderful team of trainers with Katie, Chloie, and Justin. They are all committed to what they are doing, care about us, and demonstrate that everyday we have boot camp. I haven't SMELLED the inside of a gym in more than ten years! I found out about Be Fit and decided to try it out. My 26 year old told me good luck as she was too scared to go with me lol. I have to say, I had the best time at Be Fit, the Coaches are great and they give you constant positive feed back. I love the encouraging/informational emails from Audra. All of the Coaches are amazing they know their stuff they want YOU to see results. They are professional and informative and they don't yell at you as another Yelper suggested..DUH they are outside so they have to speak loudly so they can be heard. And yes they encourage you to push alittle harder but, that is what you came there for right? They encourage you to try it and offer modifications, they tell you to listen to your body to avoid injury.They truly care about your well being. As far as this not being for beginners.. I have to disagree, I went from being a couch potato to working out 3 days a week and looking forward to it.I liked the fact that the other campers were friendly and encouraging and some were at my level some were above my level, which really didn't matter. When you get there you just workout and have fun! The cost is accurate, I spent more on coffee when I was employed. If you are like I was curious but not sure if you want to commit, trust me when I say JUST GIVE THEM A TRY YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! read more

Very disappointing. I bought a groupon a year ago. I did not know about the mandatory orientation meeting either on a weeknight or weekend. A nearly impossible task for me. They would not make an exception even though two other friends went told me everything (both said it was a sales meeting) I did go to an orientation but could not make the next bootcamp. They would not refund or let me go to bootcamp w/o going to ANOTHER orientation. Groupon will not refund as they have a class action settlement going on that I will have to apply for. The trainers Justin and Katie are great, they are there to push and motivate you to help achieve your fitness goal. I've tried many bootcamps and this one is the worst I have tried. I've gotten one decent workout out of it and Justin was the trainer. I would not recommend this for anyone not a first time bootcamper. Also, they are always trying to upsell you to something else. That's fine since every business has to make money, but they are SUPER pushy and don't treat you the same way if you don't buy an upgrade. I'm sorry to say this because most of the trainers were really nice and the location is very convenient for me, but it is so not worth the price! It's ridiculous to pay $250/month for this when a gym membership at an upscale gym with great facilities and a full range of included classes available all day long is less than half the price! I really wanted to like it, but you're really just getting a group workout class for 40 mins (because of warm up and cool down), 3X a week or so in your preferred location (the accountability and nutrition advice they advertise was nonexistent in my experience). It doesn't make sense... Regardless of the price, I didn't find the workouts very effective or motivating, and a few of the trainers seemed distracted and showed up late (I did wake up for a 6AM class one morning and the teacher was a no-show). I first started working out with Be Fit in July 2013 when I had purchased a groupon deal. I have since signed on for an additional year of membership. I love that I don't have to step foot in a stinky gym anymore, we work out outside doing lots of cardio and interval training. Actually its a lot like the "insanity" workout if you are familiar with those DVDs. The trainers are great!! They push you and give you modifications for the different circuits if you need them and help you get the results you want. Since starting in July I have lost 20lbs and counting. There are several locations to choose from and times that are easy to fit into your schedule... no excuses here!! You know your body and its limits; they help you push through those limits in a non intimidating way. I would recommend this business to everyone!! read more

Heard about Be Fit Boot Camps from a friend who saw they have 2 weeks free for newbies - so I gave it try. The locations and times are convenient so I can attend after work (some other bootcamps start too early and I cant get to them due to traffic). I'm not a very active so was a little worried, but I was quickly relaxed after arriving and meeting the trainer and others participants. I got a tough workout which left me the good kind of sore the next day. The trainer helped me to adjust the exercises to my fitness level, so I wasn't completely toast the next day. I've continued to go back and am already seeing results and feel better - so much more energy!!!!! Overall, great bootcamp with fun trainers and people. Apparently they are under new ownership this past year, so things are improved from the previous owners - totally worth it - especially with 2 weeks free! read more

I recently moved to San Jose and have had a hard time finding a schedule and place that works well for me. I was very involved in fitness living in SF but for some reason found San Jose a hard place to get moving. Be Fit has changed my life here. It's true that it's a 45 minute work out and yes you have to bring your mat and weights but you get what you give and in these classes you want to give it all. The trainers are inspiring and being held accountable is refreshing. I think that no matter what your physical state you can get a great workout if you give it your all. Maybe the Olympic athlete that posted a 1 was bored but for the rest of us humans this is a fun and challenging workout. Special shout out to KT, she's amazing. read more

Overpriced and marketed as a small group training with the one on one support from trainers with at least one check-in call a month from "your" trainer. This is pretty much non-existent. If you stop going for whatever reason then they forget all about you and just collect your money. And good luck getting out of the contract. Even if you do fall into the categories of injured or moving 30miles away from workout location they make you prove it and you still have to pay all these catch 22 fees. They just care about the money and not the individual. In my experience once you committed to a length of time they didn't worry about you anymore because they can just auto deduct every month. I found this camp through Groupon. Due to my tight schedule, I was only able to go a handful of times, but got a great work out each time. All of the trainers that I met were very nice, helpful, and conscious that each person is at a different level (but did still push you). I would definitely recommend this boot camp to beginners or people who are trying to get back into a routine. I started Be Fit Boot camp as a part of a 21 charity boot camp. My friend drug me along and I hated her for the first week because I was so out of shape and HATED being active. With the 21 day challenge, we were entitled to attend any of there camps which are in a number of locations and times throughout the week. We were also given a meal plan. I learned to love the trainers...they were able to get me working-hard. Especially Chloe. She has just enough meaness in her to scare me into moving. Ha! I am now completed with the 21 days and am so addicted! I had to miss 3 days total and felt so incomplete on those days. No only did it feel good--it gave results. In just 21 days I lost 9.5(!!!!!!) inches and 9 lbs! Needless to say, I have signed up for 6 months. PS. Working out in the sun is amazing! read more

I first bought a Groupon for BeFit Bootcamps and thought to myself, OK, I'm gonna go for a month, loose a few pounds, and then be done with it. I even said to myself, "OK, you got my money for the Groupon, now don't be trying to sell me a membership or anything else!!" Fast forward to 2 weeks into camp... I fell in love!!! For me, there is a lot to love about this boot camp. *The location is close by my house - so that makes it easy. *I have never worked out this hard in my LIFE. And I have been doing exercise of some sort my entire life. *The coaches are great! They get to know you on a personal level and learn your strengths and weaknesses and push you when they know you can give a little more. *After almost a year of camp, it has not gotten easier! And for me, I LOVE that. I plateau easily and have yet to have that happen with boot camp. *It's outdoors. Being that I work in an office, getting outside in the fresh air is really important to me. *There are multiple camps to choose from, at different time slots as well. And classes are only 45min long! That works great with my busy schedule. *Audra is willing to work with you in order to make sure they are doing everything they can to help you succeed with this program. * I have made quite a few boot camp buddies. This really helps in keeping you accountable in getting out to camp as well! *I have become much STRONGER and can push my body more than before. I've been attending bootcamp for ~14 months now and have gone from a size 14 to a size 4 and am down 35 lbs! I'm 41 and in the best shape of my entire life. I was never a size 4, even in college!!! OMG!! This couch potato actually looks forward to Chloie kicking my butt every week. How did that happen!?! Losing weight, getting healthy... it's a tough process - yes, process. The frustration when the muscles don't want to function, feeling twitchy and exhausted after the workouts, the absolute elation when I get that high-five from Chloie and she tells me I've done a great job - I just can't express how much I've come to want more of that. No matter how much weight you need to lose (seriously! I'm going for triple digits myself!) and no matter how little you can do right now, try them. Just TRY and they'll figure out how to make it work for you. I'm finishing my 3-month "trial" plan, and am considering a boot camp already. I started bootcamp with Audra in March 2009. By August, I was down 7lbs and 4% overall body fat. Audra and Kathleen have taught me how to eat and create and maintain a fit body. It is a like having a personal trainer/nutritionist/lifecoach/support group in a single one hour session. The more sessions you attend, the more lean muscle you build and finally the body fat starts coming off. I feel great, look great, am much more confident, and love shopping for new clothes. This is hands down the best total body workout I have ever done. I used to go to the gym but be fit bootcamp is way better. It's always outdoors, there are tons of times and places available, there is a great competitive spirit, the trainers are awesome, and the workouts are intense. You get a real sense of progress as your body gets stronger, you lose inches and pounds, and you never get bored. I lost 20 pounds and several inches over the course of my year at bootcamp and I'm ready for another round. Audra is an awesome coach whose no nonsense attitude and unending well of good energy keep you motivated to keep bettering yourself and pushing your limits each week. My favorite parts are the fellow bootcampers and the fact that the whole year is outdoors. There is a real community feeling that you are all in this together and nothing helps me get through a workout more then trying to catchup to my neighbors and not fall behind. Audra and the rest of the coaches work hard especially during the winter months when it can be really difficult to make yourself go every week. You may dread the wednesday workout of the week but the feeling of accomplishment you get when you are drenched with sweat at the end of a hard workout is great and I have always left the workouts feeling better than when I started. I would really really recommend giving be fit bootcamp a try. Every exercise is tailored for multiple tier levels so everyone can go at their own pace and push themselves into the harder levels. The one thing I would say is make a commitment to go consistently so you get the most out of your workout. It is really hard at first especially when you are sore but just being around other people all struggling to get through the workout can be a real help. No one judges you except yourself. read more

Unbelievable energy in this exercise experience !! Positive, motivating energy from the qualified instructors, energy in the vibrant outdoor setting, and energy in my body when I'm done with one hour workout. There enough variety to engage every muscle, with easier modifications for beginners. All levels and weights are welcomed and catered to. The atmosphere is one of support and NOT judgement. Some of the participants who are continuing with Red Shift have truly inspirational stories, and I have definitely felt a difference in the way my clothes fit after a few weeks. The instructors know how to establish rapport so you don't feel like it's a "Boot Camp". Nutritional counseling is also available for those dedicated to weight loss. This is winner !! read more

I didn't have a lot of weight to lose but was just looking for a fun way to increase my energy and fitness level. After just a few weeks, I am seeing fantastic results. I rated a low score for this business for the following reasons. Please see below. (1) Poor execution of a FREE trial offer -- I paid $10.00 for a FREE trial offer for 1 week & the business never received my confirmation. It was not only until I called the phone number listed on the website & sent an e-mail that I spoke with Audra. She said that it was ok to come by to one of the sessions. She claimed that she never received my sign-up. Really? Sounds shady. I confirmed that the $10 posted to my credit card. Also, Audra informed me that if you are interested in Be Fit Bootcamp that you can apply that amount ($10) toward the monthly membership fee of $147-$200/a month. (2) I asked Audra questions about the trial offer & what it included & when I could stop by to use it. She gave her spiel, which quite frankly was all lip service because the total fees associated with the monthly membership are $147-$200 a month and you must bring your own yoga mat or towel, water & your own weights. So, basically, you are paying $200 a month to show up and bring your own equipment. Why would I pay more than what I am paying right now $30-50/month for unlimited Bootcamp classes? Are you serious? Do your homework people and stay away from these types of businesses that are all lip service and no reward. (3) My recommendation is to use the Groupon offer for $39 for 1 orientation & 8 sessions because that is a fair amount of what you should be paying for this type of service & then just walk away. ;) Thank you! read more

The workouts are different every time I go, so I feel like I am working all parts of my body and I don't get bored. I've been going to Be Fit classes for almost two years. It's changed so much since Audra owned it! The trainers are all super nice but definitely don't let you slack off! They're really good at pushing you just further than you think you can go but really work with your individual fitness level to help you achieve results. I have done personal training, gym memberships, yoga, BOOTCAMPS, cross fit and more. In my quest for fitness I have come up with key factors I look for in a fitness program: an outdoor environment (can't deal with hamster wheels), motivation, knowledge and enthusiasm. Be Fit bootcamp has proven to be SO IMPRESSIVE. I bought my 3week deal of Groupon, cause after beginning college I was starting to let the ball drop on my fitness and who doesn't like a good deal. Most of all I needed a quality jumpstart. After the first week I was in love, and that is a feat in itself (as we all know). I respect Audra so much for her commitment not only to fitness, but for her education regarding the entire body and our mechanisms (very special to find). She is well rounded, from nutrition psychology to yoga certification to boot camp..and the list goes on. Audra and the rest of the trainers are prepared with modifications if you have a concern or and injury. Be Fit constantly advises everyone to listen to their body and communicate! I explained once to Audra that I had a concern with my body's tendency to compensate in the incorrect areas and she gave me sound advice on what I needed to do while re-training my body to do certain exercises CORRECTLY. Technique is important-- and that is something I learned in the past from my personal trainer. I had always been an avid gym-goer but low and behold once I got a trainer I found out I was doing so many exercises incorrectly. ...That goes out to all you people thinking "I got this" in the gym. Taking care of our bodies is SO IMPORTANT. Audra and the Be Fit Bootcamp team offer support motivation and care. I could go on and on about this gem of a boot camp and Audra as a fitness guru. Seriously lucked out with this Groupon. When I find a fitness program I like I want to let everyone know because working out can suck. The reg prices are steep but what do you expect? Personal training isn't cheap, camps aren't cheap, and unfortunately that's how it is. You get what you pay for but that doesn't mean we can afford it. At the very least go get those 6 week Groupons absorb the info, record the exercises on paper, and keep them up afterwards. BE FIT. read more
