I contacted Laurel on a whim since I noticed one of the locations was in my neighborhood and she encouraged me to come and try a free class before joining the next session. I have to admit I've never done anything like this before and was not in the greatest shape (or anything even close to it), so I was super nervous to give FitCamp a try. During the first class Laurel and all of the other FitCampers were so welcoming and Laurel did a great job modifying the exercises so that they were challenging for me, but totally doable. FitCamp is truly designed for folks of all levels and Laurel does a great job making the classes challenging and fun for everyone. She pushes you harder than you'd probably push yourself, but in a non-intimidating way. I'd definitely recommend Laurel and FitCamp to anyone looking to get in (or stay) in shape!

Jen wrote back to me displaying incredibly unprofessional customer service. I'm not going to play the "Customer is always right" card because I'll admit my emails could stand to be a bit nicer. However, as a business owner who I assume is trying to gain more customers, Jen completely failed in addressing my concerns and questions. She not only failed to answer my initial question on whether I needed to sign up for a monthly membership account and enter my card information, she also proceeded to repeatedly state that the process is "simple" and patronized me for not being able to figure it out. Even if the registration flow was in fact simple or if I'm just overlooking a step in the process, a brief clarification without condescending tones would've been a sufficient response, especially coming from the Founder and Head Trainer of the business. This is definitely one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. A career in fitness typically involves encouraging and helping others succeed. And yet, based on my first conversation with Jen, she seems to show more skill in customer blaming than anything else.

I didn't know what to expect and after the first class, I was sore for three days. Classes are relatively small and feel very personal. No matter what level of fitness you are, anyone can join the class. I love the fact that each class is different so it doesn't feels redundant and it is challenging. There's a 3 lane pool, every piece of equipment you could need, plenty of 'free space' to do your own routine, lots of saunas and steam rooms, cold plunge pool, business office, etc. In terms of members it's a big group - ranging from old San Jose families to new imports young and old. There are athletes, business people, families, and young adults from LG high school. Only a few days into membership so I'm sure I'll end up updating review a few times. So far the only changes I'd make are to somehow increase the parking lot (although there are plenty of creative places to park) and to dedicate one of the tvs in the lounge to Bloomberg (all four tvs are constant sports). Seriously, this place is a gem.
