I have been out for roughly two years with a few months back to work on modified duty. It's been a long process on industrial injury, so much I had to hire a lawyer to actually get the treatment I need. I have tried physical therapy, acupuncture, injections, cupping, behavioral therapy, name it. The thing that has worked the significant most is the massage therapy here. Russell has been the one treating me for over 8 sessions and he is excellent. It isn't a cookie cutter treatment as he adjusts to every single clients different needs. I have had much less standing pain in my daily life. I experience pain whether I am sitting, walking, standing, and laying down. Russell not only tends to the injured area, he tends to other parts of the body that actually offset the injured body parts. The staff at the desk are also fantastic. Val, Jaquelyn, and Ebony are very kind. Ebony was even kind enough to cover my fee for purchasing the therapy balls at the front desk. I highly recommend coming here for body pain.

From your first workout you are family and everyone here is equally invested in your goals. I'm the typical yo-yo dieter/newest gym fad gal and I've been coming to FNS for 3 years. That's like a decade in fad girl time. This place was built with heart and sweat. The workouts are intense but you can go at your own pace. There is always someone in class at your level and you won't feel intimidated like you might at other gyms. When you give up and don't show up for a few classes guess what happens... they text you to check-in. I've never seen that happen at the 1,000 other gyms I've tried in my lifetime. If you're ready to hit some goals while having fun and doing it all in a healthy way FNS is for you. Don't sleep on it ;)

She provides a judgement-free environment with zero pressure from others because it's just you and her during the 1:1 sessions. She gives the right amount of push, positive reinforcement, and guidance so you can achieve your own goals. She is firm and demanding, but somehow gentle and understanding at the same time, too. She checks in to see how you're feeling at the start, multiple times during, and at the end of each session. She is attentive, provides clear instructions, models the movements, and is very open to modifying exercises and expectations based on what you personally need. I also love that her gym is smaller than a typical corporate gym. It has a cozier, less intimidating feel to it. Not to worry, though. Her gym is fully stocked and she has everything you need to achieve a full-body workout. In addition to a free consultation (5-10 min talk re: goals + 30 min workout), she offers single sessions or you can buy a package of sessions at a slight discount. In terms of scheduling, she's very accommodating. I've had to change my session to another day several times now and she was really great about squeezing me in on another day of the week. If you're on the fence about signing up, don't be. Lena is nothing like the personal trainer stereotypes out there. She's personable, approachable, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Do this for your future self; you won't regret it!

It's not that I don't think women can be good trainers. I just figured a male trainer would better know my needs because he's also male. However, it's hands-down the best decision I've made regarding my health goals. Lena knows her stuff and the results I've been seeing is definite proof. I started with Lena four months ago and I'm down 13 lbs. I've gained noticeable muscle in my arms, legs, back, and abs. She not only pushes me to do challenging workouts, she customizes it for me so I never feel like I can't do something. She holds me accountable, but doesn't ever make me feel bad if I'm a little lax one week. She also works with me to monitor my macros. I definitely didn't want to track macros at first because I was afraid all I'd get to eat was chicken breast and egg whites. I do eat a lot of that, but I also get to eat what I want. I use her guidelines to stay on track and she reminds me that it's more about hitting macros over an average week. If I went carb heavy one day, I should make up for it by cutting back a bit the next day - it all evens out if you do it right. Can I work out on my own? Yes. Can I track macros on my own? Yes. But Lena provides the accountability piece that keeps me honest and motivated. Plus, she's positive, encouraging, and easy to chat with. Makes the one hour session go by pretty quick. Definitely recommend training with Lena. She's great!

This gym's owner has an inability to let go of 110% complete control of his gym and the movements…read morehis members' make with their bodies while coaching. Specifically, do not ever take a class with the owner (Peter) if you have an injury and require a substitution for a specific movement. For example, I have a severe knee injury. The only thing that relieves my knee pain is the circular motion of riding a bike combined with the analgesic relief that cardio from bike riding has been proven to provide. Meanwhile, one morning, Peter refused to let me ride the gym's erg bike as a substitute for one of the standard movements, which happened to be Jumping rope. After he continued to refuse to let me substitute bike riding for jumping rope, I said out loud to him, "Peter. This is my body. My choice." And yet he still refused to let me ride the erg bike. So I walked out. And I asked via email for my membership to end Sept 18. Then I had a discussion with other coaches who would let me use the bike whenever I felt like it. They convinced me to stay on as a member. But Peter refused to let me keep my membership unless I agreed to do whatever substitutions Peter deemed appropriate. Peter also gave a long lecture to his staff that week, insisting no coach should let me use the erg bike when I ask for it. And then on the morning of August 4, I realized Peter had canceled my membership early because the app was trying to charge me a "drop in" price just to sign up for that morning's classes. When I asked him to reinstate my membership, even if it was just until the date I had originally requested of Sept 18, he refused. He said I could only stay a member if I had a meeting with him and agreed to comply with whatever terms and conditions HE so chooses. He hides behind the guise of his "specific training program backed by science". But that's such a joke. And he knows he's a joke. He knows most of the members hate him. It's obvious by the low attendance for classes that he coaches. And he's taking out his issues on me simply because he can. It's so infuriating because it's so obvious to me he's suffering from severe control issues brought on by his behavioral and severe personality disorders. If he really wanted to give me a proper substitute and cared about my longevity he'd perhaps suggest I throw a d-ball up against the wall and catch it. Or something to that effect. But instead he gives me BS moves like calf raises, while refusing to let me ride the erg bike. Meanwhile the other trainers are courteous and respectful and gracious and allow me to make whatever substitutions I want. The only problem is a lot of the coaches quit working here because Peter's behavior drives them away. So there's always someone "in training". He also wastes members' time and staff's time with long lectures before or after classes. And he refuses to change his ways--often arguing with members. He's disrespectful when he insists that a coach knows a members' needs better than the members does. I've noticed he also tries to train his younger staff with this same methodology: "a coach knows better about a member's body than the members". For me, that breaks a moral boundary. There's another incident where a member did not want to box because of her elbow injury. But he insisted she box. Of course, she then reinjured her elbow. And that to me is sickening. The workouts themselves can be somewhat good. But nothing makes up for Peter's terrible management style and the nonsense policies he tries to enforce. In summary, this gym is a disaster. And the owner is a disgrace to this franchise. Edit in response to Peter's comment on my review: Peter's talking about himself in the third person because he was the trainer that day. Also, Peter, that's obviously just cut-and-paste lip service. You're obviously grasping at straws to protect your bottom line. You absolutely do NOT care about your members whatsoever. And you do NOT wish me well in my health journey. You make it obvious you only care about one things: having ultimate control of your franchise and its members. And if you can't control them, then you cancel their membership. If you actually cared, you would not have cancelled my membership before I asked for it to end. The fact that you effectively kicked me out of your club before I wanted to quit simply because I wanted to use the erg bike as a substitute for whatever movement I so chose just goes to show how severely warped your behavioral and personality issues really are.

My main trainer, Smitha, further widens my horizons for training. Her background in yoga has helped me improve my flexibility and strength all at the same time. It's also the first time I've had a female trainer with whom I can comfortably discuss health concerns and receive advice and support. Today, I finally understood why the staff at City Sport Club provide such poor customer service…read more I was fortunate enough to speak with the manager regarding the steam room, which has been out of service for more than four months. When I asked when it would finally be repaired, I received the same response I have been hearing for months: "Maybe in a week or two." I have been given this answer repeatedly for over four months, yet the steam room has never been fixed. The manager also told me that the club had already paid $20,000 to the company responsible for repairing the steam room. However, when I asked him when the company was scheduled to come and complete the repairs, he said he had no idea. Doesn't that sound absurd? If you paid a contractor $20,000, wouldn't you expect to know when they were going to show up and perform the work? It is difficult to believe that anyone would make such a significant payment without receiving a timeline or expected completion date. I asked him directly, "When you paid the repair company, didn't they tell you when they would be coming to fix the steam room?" His response was unconvincing, and his body language suggested that he was uncomfortable with the question. At that moment, I found it hard to believe the explanation I was being given. After hearing the same promises for more than four months with no progress and no clear answers, I am left questioning both the transparency and accountability of the management team. What was even more disappointing was the manager's attitude. In the middle of our conversation, without resolving my question, offering any explanation, or even apologizing for the inconvenience, he simply turned around and walked away, leaving me standing there. After this experience, I now understand why the employees at this location treat customers so poorly--their manager sets the same example. For anyone considering joining this gym, I strongly encourage you to think twice before making your decision.
