There was some slow piano spa tunes on repeat (totally unnoticeable once you tune out though) and the sound of trickling water in the background. They offer Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage. I went for the 60 minute Deep Tissue massage. That comes with the hot stones. The prices online are cash prices though which are basically $10 less than credit card. So FYI. Susan was my masseuse, and she finished the job nicely with some superb pressure while asking me if I was okay along the way. I quietly took the pain and no regrets for doing so! I had a knot in my lower back from trail running the other day. It is no longer there! What a great find. Get your knots and stiffness rubbed out here for less than many other massage joints. I'm currently operating with zero tension and tightness in my body and feel like a rubber band again! :D

For about 30 years. I have enjoyed many excellent therapeutic massages over the years. I have also tried several of the many Thai massage businesses here in mid-Peninsula SF Bay Area. In my experienced and considered opinion, Sila Thai is a standout. Not only the quality of massage but also the location (quiet street off El Camino with plenty of parking) and the lovely room. Instead of lying on a mat on the floor--and getting stuffy-nosed when face down--and hearing other clients just a few feet away, this facility is truly quiet as a tomb. There are other spa-type services on that floor but the rooms are well-insulated and the hall is carpeted. In fact, I had long lamented losing touch with Sila Thai massage therapist Manee. She had left the business I previously frequented and I didn't know where she went. I had found her far superior to any other Thai--or any style--massage I've ever had. And I am serious. She even teaches others. While I can say that I've had only one "bad" Thai massage here, I can also say that most left me relaxed with some improvement in muscle tension and some left me incredibly sore, with the muscle tension that had apparently been worked out returned the next day--along with soreness. Now, I cannot believe my good fortune that I can travel less than a mile and benefit from her work. I don't know quite how exactly to describe the difference with Manee. For one, she is very kind, intelligent, experienced, and knows musculature and body mechanics. She also speaks English very well. For another, she is very focused. Her mind is obviously not elsewhere; it is solely on helping me and giving it her all. Recently, I had 3 months of physical therapy for two "swimmer's shoulders." It helped. Somewhat. But, perhaps because I had been living in pain for so long, I did not realize how much better it could be. Now I am not claiming that Manee is a miracle worker. But I will say that two hours with her gave me more relief (permanent relief) than 3 months of physical therapy (with a very experienced PT). I am so grateful. Another huge advantage of Sila Thai is the unique setup: A traditional Swedish-style massage table with the Thai supports overhead (for Traditional Thai massage). I regret that my camera could not capture the ceiling as well. Actually, the table only looks and feels traditional. It is actually a top-of-the-line table with a pneumatic pump (for raising and lowering) that is affixed to the floor for stability. This is very important to accommodate the stretching maneuvers. I cannot overstate my appreciation for Sila Thai.

I booked one hour Holistic Thai-Swedish massage with Nirisara. Nirisara is really good and super nice! I highly recommend the "grapefruit" scent (they give you a choice of lavender, grapefruit, and....smthg else I can't remember) at the beginning of the massage. Choose grapefuit and thank me later. First part of the massage was what I call the "meat tenderizing" portion where Nirisara will legit crush your muscles to relax them. (I asked for "medium-firm" pressure). She delivered! But the Thai portion of the massage also includes range of motion stuff. They'll literally pick up your arm or leg and start manipulating it, or put it in a particular position to then help you stretch better. At some points, Nirisara physically got on the massage bed (which seemed heated and comfy to me) to use her elbows and full weight to massage large muscle groups, like my spinal muscles. The massage started off with meat tenderizing, then a little Thai range of motion-y stuff, then full blown Swedish massage with oil, and then more Thai stuff. They work your full body: feet to scalp! I'm not sure if it's because I might have been the last booking for the day, but my massage was over an hour. I kept dreading my hour would be over, and it kept going! And at the end they gave me Fiji water and a pack of trail mix. Conclusion: I am enlightened!!! I thought my massage was great!! I will be booking a follow-up massage in the upcoming weeks because they have such a vast repertoire! Don't let the name of the business fool you, they also have full Swedish massage, hot stone massage, deep tissue, prenatal, etc etc! While my service was free (due to the gift certificate) I did leave a tip for Nirisara. I would 100% book with her again! Per the website, the cost of my one hour Holistic Thai-Swedish massage is typically $145.
