I planned this trip for almost a year and I was always impressed by PVR. Whenever I had a question, they were quick to respond. All communication was done via email before our stay and went smoothly. Not long before our trip, I requested to add one more days stay and it was no problem at all. The check in process upon arrival was easy thanks to the directions provided. When we left the home after vacation, my Husband learned that he had left his wedding ring at the home. He was on the flight home when he realized it. PVR went above and beyond to locate his ring and return it to us! I can't tell you how grateful we are to the staff and housekeeping of PVR. Only critique is that 2 overhead light bulbs were burned out. I found new bulbs in the supply closet and replaced them. Condo is located on the Makai golf course. Pretty view looks out towards the ocean. Quiet and peaceful complex. The pool is clean. The hot tub is out of service with no repair date predicted. Despite these shortcomings I plan to return next year.

It…read moreappears that the first time, "we just lucked out" because the home we rented had been newly renovated. We were very excited to have the experience again and paid 2,600/week for a wonderful looking rental next to the beach. The price of this property was in line given location and size relative to the others listed on their website. NOT. We arrived at a house which was much older than appeared in the pictures on the website (scary flashback to online dating experience right now). It was a 2 bedroom with an additional master suite loft; we quickly discovered that one of the bedrooms was filled with mold as one of our party cannot tolerate it and couldn't go into that room. The floor in that room was not redone like the rest of the house; it was faded linoleum with what looked like cigarette burns all over it. Upon moving one of the beds to another room so that it could be used, there was a hole about the size of a golf ball that led directly under the house. Now in Kauia in this kind of house that actually means it leads outside, as there is no built basement AT ALL. Within three days, one of the burners on the electric (eek) stove had burnt out, the ballasts on the fluorescent lights in the bathroom and kitchen were fried (they're old, just fiddle with it a bit to turn it on said the realty - ??! huh?? I don't want to do that on vacation) and the dryer blew out. The worse is in this tropical paradise, we discovered many of the screens in the door and skylights had holes in them, so mosquitoes were streaming in day and night. The house had no broadband and promised a BBQ, which turned out to be an old portable hibachi that had rusted out, under the house. We had to call the realty to bring us another one. When asked why they would rent a house in such disrepair for this amount of money, they said, they do not really manage this house, they merely handle the bookings. What I ask is the point in renting a house all the way from New York City with an agency which can't quality control the condition of a property???

Island Rentals Property Management is under new ownership (since 2018). It's actually changed…read morehands a few times since we have been with them as landlords, and we love the new owners. Sarah is very hands on, proactive, attentive to detail and yet still keeps an eye on the bottom line. She has previous extensive property management experience and works hard to keep her units taken care of. Jamey handles maintenance and rehab work. He is also very attentive to detail and plans ahead for ways to make future needed maintenance easier as well. We found out a few months ago that a lot of maintenance had been deferred for years plus our unit had a lot of annoying issues (who wants to sit on a rocking toilet?!). They want to help keep our unit in great shape, so our renters are happy, and so that our investment is taken care of and lasts. And, we want that, too. They came up with a plan and estimates. Both Sarah and Jamey were great to work with. We ended up doing a partial rehab, but the place looks better than when we had bought it. They helped a lot with picking out new flooring, new paint, and other things like faucets and sinks that honestly we didn't have much prior experience with. Sarah was great about keeping me in the loop by texting, calling, or emailing me to let me know the status of projects/issues (as is typical with rehabs, things didn't always go according to plan). She also sent pictures and videos of the issues, so we could understand the need to tweak our original plan as well as pictures/videos of the finished work (the flooring looks amazing!!!). Because the rehab was not planned for, both of them found creative ways to help us stay at or below our budget which we really appreciated. Everyone who has seen our unit loves it! I highly recommend Island Rentals whether you are a owner or renter!

We ended up saving hundreds of dollars as the staff has connections to some of the best properties on the island. We also ended up going stand-up paddling up rivers and liked it so much we had private surf lessons for the whole family. The best part is that the staff knows the island, they're safe/professional and they don't overcharge. Kauai Island Experience was able to hook us up with adventures not in any guide book. We referred our friends as well and they felt the same. Mike and the highly trained professionals will surely make your trip unforgettable. I'd also recommend going out on a fishing trip. I caught my first marlin and it was incredible. The best part was that their chefs cooked up the catch island style and we ate like kings for the rest of the trip. Del (I think) his shipmate was also lovely. We wanted to use them again for other activities that he offers but ran out of time, we were there for a wedding, turns out those things are kind of consuming. I would use him again for lessons, tours or anything of that nature when we come back. This condo is absolutely gorgeous with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths + a den. The furniture & kitchen were all in great condition with updated/basically new appliances. **THE A/C WORKED PERFECTLY** & really made our stay comfortable & relaxing. The lanai was beautiful as well. There was enough towels + kitchen items + random miscellaneous items left by other guests (shampoos, condiments, etc). The garage had some fun beach gear (snorkels, fins, etc). We left a boogie surf board for the future guests of 26A to use :) Enjoy!! My only recommendation would be to get some beach chairs & an umbrella for guests. We had family members stay next door in 26B and their condo came equipped with more beach stuff (beach mats, beach chairs, boogie surf boards).
