It can get crowded from outside the restaurant but still definitely one to see. We were greeted by Michael who was very friendly and helped us with our questions. I had the Mac Nut crusted fish. The rice was a little bland but the bok choy and sauce were great. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer and they were delicious but you only get two. Hubby had the ribeye and he said it was ok, but not terrible. My son ate up the filet mignon. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they gave us a chocolate mochi cake with ice cream and it was great- not too sweet. Overall, a great place to check out but wouldn't come back multiple times. The views are wonderful especially if you could get a table facing the ocean. It's $10 valet which is worth it!

With arguably some of the best waterfront seating and sunset views on the island, it's easy to see why many consider it a premier fine dining destination. This was our first visit, and we were lucky enough to get a reservation just before sunset. We started with the famous Monkeypod Mai Tai and shared several appetizers. The standout dishes were the fresh fish, the lobster pasta, and the crab cakes, each was excellent. The service was friendly and attentive, and the menu offered plenty of great options. Parking can be a bit challenging if you don't want to use valet, so plan accordingly. You're paying for the incredible views, the relaxing ambiance, and a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a special meal on Kauai, The Beach House is well worth a visit. Enjoy.

Good drinks, delicious food, and a beautiful ocean view that made the occasion even more special. The food was solid across the board, and the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. vThe restaurant is part of a small timeshare resort so can have a lot of traffic on the property. When we visited, it wasn't crowded, making for an even more enjoyable dining experience. One of the highlights was the live music coming from the bar, which created the perfect ambiance on the lanai without overwhelming the conversation. The noise level was just right--my wife and I could easily talk without having to raise our voices. Add in the gentle ocean breeze, and it made for a comfortable, memorable evening. If you're looking for a laid-back Maui restaurant with goodt views, good food, and a peaceful atmosphere, Hukilau Lanai is well worth a visit. Mahalo.

Our server, Andrew, was excellent. He was nice, knew answers to questions we had, offered recommendations and was attentive. Our food was delicious! We had the Beach Boy Salad, Wally's Steak Crown Royal, and the Prime Rib au Jus. Both were very delicious!! I would have liked to give 5 stars, but deducted one because of the hostess up front. When we arrived she DID NOT say hello or anything equivalent. She did NOT smile. She was NOT welcoming. As we approached the desk, my husband said, "Hello, we have a dinner reservation for 5:30. She said, "Your name?". My husband gave her our last name. Then she said, "She'll take you". She barely acknowledged us, NEVER a smile. That is not customer service. Please retrain her on how to represent the restaurant, customer service, and just basic manners.

We also loved the atmosphere. The restaurant is open and airy, with plenty of fresh air, creating a relaxed island vibe. We started with several small plates. The beet salad was fresh, beautifully prepared, and large enough to share. The highlight of the appetizers, however, was the local Kauai prawns. They were perfectly cooked and served sizzling in an iron skillet with a rich, lemon-butter sauce that was absolutely delicious. Definitely a must-order! For our entrées, we had the Catch of the Day and the Chicken Marsala. The Catch of the Day was outstanding--fresh, expertly prepared, and easily the star of the meal. The Chicken Marsala was flavorful and well-cooked, though it was just a little saltier than I personally prefer. Overall, the food quality was great, the service was friendly and attentive, and the entire dining experience was outstanding. If you're visiting Kauai, don't miss the Catch of the Day--it was exceptional! We highly recommend The Bistro for delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The group started with Caesar salads, house salad & the beet salad. For entrees, 2 chose blackened sea bass, 2 chose the pork chop w/ pineapple whiskey sauce. Also chose chili pepper chicken & mushroom risotto croquettes. Kids had fettuccine Alfredo. All were good except we found a piece of plastic in the croquettes. Obviously those were returned. The pork chop was served with perfectly cooked sautéed spinach. However, the sauce was thin & had no hint of whiskey. The chicken was kind of dry - it needed a dipping sauce. Lilikoi cheesecake was good, not great. The berry compote served on side overpowered the lilikoi sauce drizzled on the plate. Service was friendly & fairly prompt. Overall, a nice dinner, but not anything to rave about.

From the moment you arrive, you know you're in for something special. Complimentary valet parking, breathtaking views of the ocean, beautifully manicured golf course, infinity pools, and even a distant lighthouse create an unforgettable setting before you even sit down. We started with the Lobster Tempura and the Grilled Octopus, and both were excellent. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and the perfect way to begin the evening. For our entrées, we ordered the Kampachi (the first fish on the menu) and the Filet Mignon. After sharing both dishes, my husband and I completely agreed--the fish was the clear winner. It was absolutely outstanding. Every element on the plate complemented the others perfectly, creating one of those dishes you remember long after dinner is over. The filet mignon was very good--perfectly cooked and flavorful--but if we returned, we would order fish again without hesitation. In fact, we'd probably try the other fresh fish option as well (I believe it was Opah). Dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. We enjoyed the warm chocolate cake and the Hawaiian-inspired banana split, both beautifully prepared and delicious. This is the kind of restaurant you choose when you want to celebrate a special occasion or simply treat yourself to an exceptional meal. The combination of stunning scenery, attentive service, creative cocktails, and outstanding cuisine makes it well worth the visit. It's easy to understand why Hualani's has earned such an outstanding reputation. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

After we placed our order for the steamed mussels the server informed us that it would be a mixture of mussels and clams. When the dish came out, it was all clams, no mussels at all. They were very good and the curry sauce they were steamed in was yummy, but it just wasn't what we initially ordered. I ordered the fresh catch fish, which was very disappointing. The fish itself was very fresh tasting, but it was overcooked to the point of being dry. It was also bland and seemed to be unseasoned. It sat on a bed of purple sweet potato with a fresh succotash mixture on the side. The vegetables must have been plated long before the fish was ready because the potatoes and vegetables were no longer even warm, which was an unpleasant combo with the overcooked, bland fish. There was a sauce on the side, but not nearly enough considering the dry slab of tasteless fish sitting on top of cold potatoes. Others at the table ordered the lamb chops and steaks. The lamb chops were delicious and those at our table with steaks seemed very happy with them. Our server forgot to bring the drinks to 2 of the 6 people in our party. She did offer to remove the mussels from the bill due to the error in preparing this dish. Atmosphere was extremely loud, there was a singer in the bar area with the volume turned up high. That combined with the large bar area open to the restaurant made it so loud that it was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation in the dining area. It is a fairly pricey restaurant. For the price, I'd expect better service and a better prepared meal. There are far better choices elsewhere on the island.
