I had written a review a few months back after having had a poor experience at this salon. Somehow, my review has disappeared. I thought that that did not happen on Yelp. Anyway, I am writing now because i decided to return to this salon for a spray tan before my daughter's wedding. The week before the wedding, I went for a "practice" tan just to make sure I was happy. (Previously my spray tan was barely noticeable- barely any color) when I called to complain, they told me that they were closing and could not help me. (It was 9:15 pm). This time, I was so very happy to meet COREY! She took the time to ask me exactly what i wanted, airbrushed me, made me look in lighting in two different places, and made sure it was perfect. She took her time and dried me thoroughly. I was so happy with the results, I attempted to book my spray tan for the next week for my daughter's wedding with Corey. I was told that she was off that day! But guess what Corey did? She called me and said that because she wanted me to be happy and because it was such an important occasion, she would come in to work on her day off just for me! I was so thrilled, and again, she did a wonderful job. My tan looked perfect and lasted the whole wedding- weekend. Disgusted at this point ! My husband purchased a $400 package , I told him to see if he could get a refund because I was going to have surgery . They refused. So we are out $400 . I called today July 6 and asked if I could start using my package ! And the girl said the manger put it as not paid ! Wow really you would not give me a refund and I go to use it and it's on hold for non payment! Is this a joke ? I have been going to beach bum for 20 years , the East Meadow and Queens locations ! I have been tanning at this beach bum for over ten years. As I got older,I decided to switch from the tanning bed to an airbrush tan for special occasions. My first airbrush experience was nothing but amazing! Annie was absolutely incredible and I would HIGHLY recommend her. She took her time, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My tan lasted over a week and faded seamlessly when it did. I was not blotchy and my tan looked natural. I did the shower in an hour and also purchased the two additional add ons, toner and moisture lock. The add ons were applied in separate even coats with canister changes. My tan was flawless and I got so many compliments. I knew I'd be back for my next event! Flash forward to now. I made another airbrush appointment but unfortunately Annie was not working the day I needed and the store manager (who I will not name) applied my airbrush tan. I purchased the same tan... shower in an hour, toner, moisture lock. When the manager came in to tan me, she started with the color right away. I had asked to confirm that I was getting the toner I paid for and she assured me "it was mixed in". She did not change the color/canister once and my mind was starting to think something was up. The entire process was less than 10 minutes and rushed but I thought I was happy with the color. I went home and instantly noticed the color was blotchy and wearing off in places. I called not one... but two.. other Long Island locations and asked the process of an airbrush tan. They assured me it was to go on in three separate coats and would not be mixed together, just as my first tan experience had gone. I went back to the salon and spoke with the store manager(who sprayed me) and she assured me that the add ons are "additives" when using shower in an hour and everything I paid for was all mixed in at once, despite the other two salons AND my previous experience stating otherwise. Flash forward to 24 hours later... the color is orange and already blotchy. I called and spoke with the assistant manager, Cameron. She also assured me that the add ons should NEVER be mixed and the tan should always be applied as three separate canisters and the solutions are three different colors. After explaining the situation, she was extremely helpful and was able to fix the situation I was in. I am extremely appreciative of Cameron. She sounded professional and knowledgeable and I would definitely give her a chance as an airbrush artist. My tan from the store manager is already fading and EXTREMELY blotchy and patchy not even 48 hours later despite following all post care instructions which just confirms even more that I did not receive the items I paid for, even when the tan was being administered by the store manager. All in all, I would visit the salon again because Annie and Cameron were wonderful and Cameron was able to fix the problem at hand. Annie was an absolutely amazing airbrush artist and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She truly is amazing at what she does! However I would absolutely NOT recommend the store manager as your airbrush artist. Thank you again to Cameron for fixing this situation for me! It was so appreciated. read more

Very clean modern updated decor location .. my favorite place to tan for over 10 years highly recommend !!! Staff is like family always a smile and friendly service every time and I love all the products they sell it's a one stop shop for all my favorite beachy sun sand surf needs ... I consistently shop their Jewelery pure vida is a high end brand for surf styles and I own almost every pair of haviannas flip flops in every color and style can't leave with out getting them ... they are the only brand I wear for summer ... the store manager Megan and team always provide excellent service . read more

Disappointed in this location. I've been airbrushed using Beach Bum probably about a dozen times now and this was by far my worst experience yet. While the staff was friendly, my airbrush artist seemed to be in quite the rush and I was in and out in under 8 minutes. When I woke up the next morning, after adhering to all the directions, I had clear lines on my arms where she stopped and started. She also had sprayed excess on my chest that she had to wipe off which I've never had happen before. Additionally, the airbrush room was set up very poorly. There was no where to put my jewelry so I had to find a corner of a decorative shelf to put it on. There was also no drying fan so I waited a minute before putting my outfit back on at the end. Love their beds! Always clean and lots of different options! I wish the expiration dates on packages was a little bit longer, but when I recently had a problem, Cassandra was so helpful at helping me find that I had another package on hold! I probably was going to a new salon, but thanks to Cassandra I will continue going back!!! read more

Got my first air brush tan there today and so far it looks awesome! Super clean environment and an extremely friendly staff! The girls here are very nice. they seem under staffed at times which can create a wait which can be inconvenient . My only complaint would be that they don't allow you to go bottomless for the spray tans which the beach bums in queens always allowed. I bought the pass without knowing that and now I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the tan lines in my bathing suits. read more

Beach Bum is probably one of the most expensive tanning facilities in the area. The only reason I come here is because they're close, somewhat affordable with a student discount ($40 a month), and have low level stand up equipment (unlike Island Glow/ Galaxy/ and Sunset Beach). The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any and all questions I have. They are Smart Tan certified, and know the difference between UVA and UVB rays, and how high pressure tanning (purple square bulbs vs the fluorescent) can be beneficial once you have a base tan. They really know their stuff. While they always seem adequately staffed, often times I wait 5-10 minutes to "check-in", which only has to take about 30 seconds. They constantly try and upsell with lotion packets, the only time this is worth it is on Sunday when buying a packet ($6~) gets you an upgrade to the next level bed. Also, kudos to them for providing eyewear at no additional cost, other places charge which is ridiculous. Their beds are very hit or miss, and it sucks because the full time in one bed can burn me, while another bed would give me absolutely no color (albeit the same level). All in all, only come here if you're very close to this location. Their lackluster prices/ service is only worth it if A- You live close and B- Buy a monthly package. An infrequent tanner would most likely prefer a place such as those listed above, that have daily/ weekly deals on single sessions. read more

Rude employee in here. Get over your days of fake tanning to snob your customers. People are scared of cancer. Your not cool because you work in a tanning salon. You had every opportunity to sell a package and you lost it because of your bad customer service. Maybe you should be more careful about who approaches your counter. read more

I always go here for an airbrush tan but If I don't get one specific girl my spray comes out horrible. I ask for a dark finish and it looks like I didn't even get touched. I understand they were running behind but my session was rushed for people who had no appointment. I wasn't asked to check my color and was sprayed with a top coat before I was told she was doing so and then it was too late to ask for another layer. My darker color is documented in the system so I am confused why it was no where near the color I am normally sprayed. This was the one weekend I really needed my spray tan to be good and I was disappointed with the result. read more

So after my initial review I was contacted by beach bum and told my charges were reversed and my membership was absolutely canceled. Now here we are ANOTHER month that I am being charged! What incompetent people! How hard is it to cancel a membership and for them to get it right?! I've called corporates live chat where apparently no one is alive because this is now the third day in a row that I have had to leave a message. I just moved from Chicago and LaTan is the place to go in the Midwest. I'm a very picky person. The staff is great and the place is super clean and the monthly unlimited at$29 a month is a steal in New York! Free eye where also. That's great also. I look forward to my new memberships. read more

I have been going to the beach bum in Patchogue for the past 5 years and absolutely love it here. The beds are always cleaned well and the tanning is excellent. Last month I decided not to buy a package due to the rude and snotty behavior of one of the staff members (Karissa). I really want to come back but I can't deal with the impolite behaviors. I hope there is something that management can do about this. read more
