The girls at the front desk tend to talk down to you, and if you decline one of their upsells they become noticeably rude or short. I always try to be polite, and I worked at a tanning salon before so I'm familiar with how things work, but I've been spoken to here like I have no idea what I'm doing. Going tanning should feel like a little self-care moment, but here it feels like you're inconveniencing them. I've never had these issues at the Scarborough location. If you can, go there instead or to Glow in South Portland!

I've been an on again off again Sun Tan City member for many years. A few months back I went to…read morereceive a spray tan at the Portland location and had an absolutely frustrating experience that led me back to the Biddeford location. In Portland I had purchased a sunless product bundle that included 2 spray tans and was so put off by my experience. The spray booth smelled like urine and it did not last as long as they usually do. I've spray tanned for many years and ensure I maintain it so that was not due to user error. About a month or two after that experience I went to the Biddeford location because in the past I had always had good experiences there. I was under the impression I still had a spray tan from my bundle and was informed by the manager at this location that they have an expiration date when purchased as a product bundle. I was upset because the girl who sold it to me initially did not inform me of that at all! The manager understood and could clearly see my frustration so she made the effort to call customer service and get a courtesy tan for me! She went above and beyond for me and ensured that I felt welcome in her salon. I was so satisfied I signed up for a membership and have had nothing but wonderful experiences every time I am there! The manager and her staff...especially Briaunna...are all fabulous and make sure I know about the current specials and any new products that they think would work for me. I can tell these women work so hard to keep their salon in top shape and despite how difficult it can be to find good consistent help I think the management here works over time to make sure her clients have a positive and welcoming experience! I always make sure to go to Sun Tan City because they offer a variety of beds and their prices are decent for what you get. I always love the fastest bed, which is comfortable and has a specific feature that tans your face evenly. This location has always been a go-to, however, from my recent visits, it seems as though the service has gone downhill. When I went to go sign up for my month's worth of tanning with my husband and a friend, there was only one person working, and apparently signing up is a long process. Due to one person working and one person trying to sign us all up, there ended up being a very large line of people just waiting to get signed in to tan behind us. Being an already anxious person, the heavy breathing and eye rolling that ensued from the customers behind us made the experience stressful. On top of that, the one person working felt like she needed to explain to me and everyone in the building that she was the only one working and that someone else was supposed to be working at that time but that they hadn't arrived yet. It was clear that she was stressed and everyone else was stressed because of it. Finally, the other worker came in, and even though she saw the line of waiting people, she took her time taking her jacket off and then she tried to start having a conversation with the worker that had been there by herself. Being that there was a substantial line, I would have thought that she would have been more prompt in helping sign people in... Also, I'm weary of the cleaning procedures at this location. Prior to my recent visits, I was always comfortable in knowing that my tanning bed would be clean, however, there have been a couple times when I have gone to tan and a worker needed to clean a bed. Each time this has happened, they go out back for LITERALLY 20 seconds and they are miraculously back to tell me that my bed is ready. Now I make sure to wipe down the bed myself with a towel. This location definitely has some things to work out as far as their workers and customer service.

I have just joined this gym as my office has temporarily moved to the neighborhood…read more My gym routine for the past six months (at my previous gym in SoPo) has been: 1) Go into a changing room and get dressed 2) Hop on an arc trainer 3) Put a magazine on the machine to help the time go by This gym does not have changing rooms or a single arc trainer. Also all the machines have the same design that does not allow for a book or magazine to be held up. There is not even space for your phone. The locker room has one teeny stall I changed in (barely), and showers but with no curtains for privacy? It is just odd. I have no other options for the next six months. Lord beer me strength
