First, I really enjoy the vibe of this salon. They've embraced the old service station history and it works really well. It's a fun place to visit. Second, and most importantly, Amy did a phenomenal job on my hair!! I decided to stop coloring, several months ago. I've had the demarcation line with grey/silver 1/3 of the way down my hair and the rest a mix of ashy blonde, yellow, and darker brown. There was a lot going on. I was clear with Amy that I do NOT want to get back into a routine of having to color. As an avid scuba diver and outdoorswoman, I am definitely a wash and wear kind of girl. I am NOT going to take any time, so it's got to be easy for me. She knocked it out of the park. Put in I don't even know how many different toners - actually treated every section of my hair that had something different going on, individually. No more line. No more burnt out yellow - just a beautiful blend of my natural silver/salt & pepper, toned. It will take me a day or two to get used to the change but it's time to embrace the "sexy, older woman" vibe. I can say, within 15 minutes of leaving the salon, I had one stranger, and 4 friends give me amazing compliments. They all love it. I know I will too. I walked in to her a haircut. They were cool, but decided they had the time. All staff stood around and talked to each other and ignored me through the toughest and 2nd worst haircut I've ever had. I thought it was terrible, but another hairdresser got her hands into my hair and was mortified by how bad my hair was. I let it go until Yelp kept trying to push this salon on me. If you want an even blonding job, STAY AWAY. If you have a pixie cut or anything other than traditional long, women's hairstyles, STAY FAR FAR AWAY. This place butchered my hair, and it wasn't that complicated a style. I needed my pixie cut trimmed, reshaped, and blonded, and I've been in tears ever since I let these amateurs near my hair. The first woman didn't listen to a word I said, cut off all of my bangs, left me with a massive brass ring because she was extremely lazy and uncommunicative about the blonding process, and didn't even shape the hairstyle like a pixie. She gave me a men's supercut while talking nonstop. Maybe she should have focused on her job. I went back in and the manager tried to fix the mess of a haircut for free, which I appreciated, but now that I'm looking at it at home, the back isn't even the same length or the same color on either side. The color in the back is still abysmal. All I can do now is wait for it to grow out and find a stylist that understands short hair. I wish I could leave 0 stars and get my money back because these hacks shouldn't be allowed anywhere near short hair or bleach. Honestly, if it wasn't a small town, I sincerely doubt they'd be in business. Ladies, if don't know how to cut short hair, then don't book customers with short hair. If you're afraid to put bleach on short hair, don't say you will and then do a patchy job TWICE. There's no product on my neckline, which is also a mess, by the way. Someone needs to confiscate your clippers, because you are NOT QUALIFIED to use them. I would have gotten a better pixie cut from a barber shop. read more

Went in for a refreshing of an old cut. Atmosphere very fun and quirky. My attendee did not give a very good shampoo - only quickly washing the crown of my head really, on a very uncomfortable, painful sink (a towel under the neck please). And ladies, we know when we've had a great wash. Also don't feel as though quality shampoo and conditioner was used as hair came out very much more wiry than typical and no real product for the blow dry applied. Short story- I saw a stylist at Hair Station for a cut, bleach, and color. There were issues with the bleach, and I had to come back a second time to have it corrected. The second time didn't come out right either. Upset and frustrated I contacted the owner to see if there was anything I could do at this point, and to see if the owner would try to step in and fix my hair. Nope. Gave a runaround and made it clear she wasn't interested in helping. So over six hours in a chair and a few hundred dollars later my hair looks a hot mess and the owner is OK with that representing her business. Long story- I bleach my naturally dark hair (level 2) leaving ¼" to 1/2" of shadow root, and color it a gray/pastel purple. I had just moved to the Auburn area and my roots were super duper overgrown. While I am happy to color my hair at home using direct dyes, I know better then to mess with bleach myself so I made an appointment for a consultation at the Hair Station to have about 3" of my growth bleached (still leaving a slight shadow root). I came in, talked to a stylist, showed her pictures on my hair, told her what I wanted, and what I didn't want, she saw what my outgrowth looked like, and set up an appointment. When I came back for an appointment, I started getting a feeling something was wrong about halfway through. The stylist was applying bleach to my hair in foils, but leaving out huge amounts of hair with no product at all on them. When I asked her about it she said something about how that hair would lighten up when she did the following step in the shampoo bowl. Nervous, I trusted her and figured she knew what she was talking about. After a few more processes of toning, keratin treatments, etc, the stylist colored my hair using the Pravana color formula that I told her that I use at home. The color didn't come out exact, and it came out super super dark, but that's OK since the fashion colors fade so fast. After about a week of fading it became apparent that she didn't bleach all my hair, but rather just gave me highlights of bleach. I called up and talked to her, and it was clear there was some miscommunication so she said I could come in again and that she would apply more bleach all over (still leaving the shadow root). Worried about double processing the hair that she had already bleached, she tried her best to pick those parts out, and just bleach around them. About half way through applying color the second time the stylist ran out of one of the colors she needed for my formula, so she called a friend up and had her run to a beauty supply store to grab another tube. Again the color came out super duper dark, but the stylist assured me that now 95% of my hair was bleached. After fading for another week it became clear that the second round of bleaching was not allowed to process long enough. The hair she bleached the second time was not lifted to a full 9 or 10, but was only a 7. There's no way in hell a level 7 can hold a pastel or silver fashion color. So my options are to either color my hair much darker than I want every time, or walk around with dark brown roots, a middle section of dark blonde with gray/purple highlights, and ends of pure gray/pastel purple. At first I didn't have the heart to call back again, and I was dubious as to whether there is anything that could be done since there was so much bleach applied to my hair within a month so I just tried to live with it. After a few weeks of cringing every time I looked in the mirror I reached out to the owner on Facebook to see what she recommended doing at this point. After explaining the situation, and talking to her about the problem, she ended the conversation by saying "Unfortunately... we can no longer guarantee the out come of your color because it has been altered outside the salon." So because I touch up my color with Pravana colors at home, she won't acknowledge that the bleaching was done at all correctly. She tried to justify this by saying that the products I purchased could be counterfeit, which is ironic since I buy my color at the SAME beauty supply store that the stylist sent her friend when she ran out of color. And because of the way direct dyes act chemically there is NO WAY that these dyed could have made the bleached sections magically unbleached themselves a few levels. At this point I was shocked. In the 15+ years I've had my hair bleached and colored in countless cities and states I've never heard such backwards logic, or had an owner who was seemingly OK with an unhappy client walking around. Moral of the story- Don't go to Hair Station if you care about how you look, because the owner sure as heck doesn't. Disclaimer- the cut was great despite issues with color. read more

Starting with the theme of this place... It is soo cute! I love the the retro look. I went in today with a gift card from my sister none of us had been to hair station before but it looked like my style. I have had some bad experiences in the past going to a salon I had never been to before but this place was great. I arrived early for appointment and was immediately asked if I would like anything to drink while I waited which was nice... I went in thinking I would cut my hair off into a bob even though I have been growing my hair for months and taking biotin and doing hair treatments hoping to make it grow faster. I felt like giving up on my long hair dream. Luckily I walked into the hair station where Devin chatted with me about what I wanted and why, I explained I was giving up on my dream of long hair and immediately she stopped me and assured me that she could give me a great cut in the middle of the awkward stage of hair growth. She threw in perfect layers and trimmed my heavily damaged ends and I left with the most perfect hair I even went back after about 20 minutes to buy the products she used and booked my mom an appointment.
