I recently visited the office for the removal and replacement of a broken permanent retainer that I had previously done by an orthodontist out-of-state. The new patient consultation process was smooth and efficient. I appreciated how courteous and professional Dr. Sinclair and the staff were while explaining my treatment options. The office appeared modern and well-equipped, which gave me initial confidence in the quality of care. The treatment itself seems to have been effective, and so far, I'm satisfied with the result. However, the experience during the procedure left me with some concerns. I wasn't entirely confident in the technician's experience level, especially after overhearing a conversation about using the wrong grinding tool, followed by some joking and laughter. That moment detracted from the overall professionalism I was expecting. During the procedure, the technician also seemed inattentive with suction and irrigation, which made the experience less comfortable than it should have been. Hearing "sorry" that many times doesn't leave a confident feeling. The intraoral camera was used a bit aggressively, and it felt rushed. Toward the end, the technician told a colleague that she preferred not to continue working on me and swapped out mid-appointment. That kind of handoff didn't feel particularly respectful or reassuring. When Dr. Brothers stepped in, the procedure was very smooth. On the administrative side, while most staff members were friendly, one front desk interaction stood out as a bit tense. When I asked a couple of clarifying questions about billing, I felt like I was met with mild irritation rather than helpfulness. It wasn't a huge issue, but enough to notice. Overall, this office is a fine option, considering their volume of satisfied patients, updated equipment, and streamlined onboarding process. That said, carefully consider your options if you're doing something uncommon, or if you prefer a better orthodontist to tech ratio. My dentist recommended this location and unfortunately, this is gonna be my first time reviewing a business where I gave less than a perfect review. My first impression was great my insurance covered a portion of my care and I signed a payment agreement to take care of the rest. My treatment went longer than the initial estimate, which is understandable, but when I noticed that I had continued to be billed much longer than my agreed-upon amount, I called the office and after numerous attempts for them to locate my original agreement, it was stated to me that my insurance did not pay what was agreed-upon and so that it was added to my payment plan. I was never informed of this upfront, and I had to track it down myself. When I questioned it again on my last visit because I was asked to make another payment I told them I thought it was odd that a business of the size would not have informed me of a change in my payment plan which I have in my own records. The receptionist told me warmly that they probably called me and that I must've missed the call. I think most of us in a professional setting understand that if an agreement has changed, it should be clearly understood and not assumed. The client should never be the one tracking down the business to ask them why they're being charged more than what they originally agreed on. I'll leave out my Dentist's review of the work itself and keep it to what I believe is at the very least unprofessional billing practices. Had I been informed upfront that my payment plan was changing I would feel differently and quite frankly I think if the insurance didn't pay what they had agreed on then they are who should've been gone after not me the client who paid much more. If there is an error in billing at my occupation or I'm sure many others we don't pass it onto the client with such disregard. The amount isn't the issue it's the principle of how I or anyone would expect to be treated when problems arise that's when you really see the integrity of a business. read more

If I could give Beach Cities 10 stars I would especially if you get Dr. Sinclair to direct treatment. They gotta make money but Sinclair is a nice and compassionate guy who will stick to treating your child with orthodontics no matter how long it takes under a fixed fee in my family's experience. There are no cookie cutter reflex decisions to use braces - two of my kids got braces and one a retainer only. I have no experience with Dr. Brothers but I suspect that if Dr. Sinclair chose to work with her as a partner or ultimately a transition, things should be great for at least the next 5 years. read more

I would like to share my son's orthodontic experience. My son needed orthodontic treatment because there wasn't enough space for his permanent teeth to come in. We completed the first phase of treatment and decided to proceed with the second phase after his permanent teeth came in. Dr. Sinclair had promised a credit for the first phase if we did the second phase, so we chose Beach Cities Orthodontics. After the first phase was completed, we went in for a consultation for the second phase, and they provided us with an estimate of about $6,000. We mentioned that Dr. Sinclair had offered a credit for the first phase, but they only offered $500. We also knew they had a $750 promotion for first-time patients, but they gave us a lower amount. We found a recording of Dr. Sinclair stating that he would give us credit for the first phase, so we returned to discuss the second phase. However, they quoted us $6,000 to $6,750, which was the same as the original estimate, and offered a $500 discount. When I played the recording for them, they said they could offer a discount of up to $1,000. They also said they couldn't give us credit for the portion covered by insurance. They didn't even check how much we had paid originally or how much insurance had covered. Instead, they simply quoted us $1,000 and even provided a higher estimate than the first consultation. At that point, I realized I couldn't trust them anymore, and because they were so unprofessional with the billing, I decided not to proceed with treatment there. I've decided to look for another orthodontist, even if it costs more, where I can trust the service. ============================== No one informed us that the ownership had changed. Even though the ownership has changed, you took over the patients from the previous owner. Don't you have an obligation to honor the promises made to those patients by the previous owner? I don't understand your reasoning. I am satisfied with the results of the treatment, but that treatment was done by the previous owner, not by you. I believe it is only right to honor the original promises, regardless of whether it was made by the previous owner or the current one. I want other customers to be aware of this situation. Adult Orthodontics for Busy Executives! Dr. Sinclair did orthodontics for both of my daughters now ages 16 and 19 the investment was worth it, their smiles are beautiful. I decided to ask about options for my bottom teeth and he quickly assessed that I needed a retainer worn only at night to re-align my teeth 35 years after having braces as a teen. A mold was taken and today received my retainer a week later, he made sure it fit comfortably and now the process begins. I will return every six weeks or so for next 6-9 months. It's really hard to get an appointment when you need urgent fix. You have to wait 2-3 weeks and it will delay your treatment. Especially 40 min appointment is impossible to get.
