I recently brought in a custom made roof rack form toyota tacoma to be powder coated with satin black 30% gloss. i gave 3 stars for a couple reasons. 1. I talked to some guy thats name with an "A", but i forget his name, anyways, he told me it would take 3-4 days, so i dropped it off off to him on a Thursday morning around 8am when they open, he was very informative about the process and what the color i wanted looked like. he gave me his personal phone number i (believe) so if i had any questions i could contact him. after the weekend, i texted him on Monday to check on the progress, he gave me a short answer of "It will be done in a couple days". So by wednesday i hadn't heard back from him, nor the shop about the progress on my roof rack, so i texted him once again Wednesday afternoon", he said "It will be done by the end of the week". By this point i was furious, it had been almost a week. ON FRIDAY he texted me saying it was done, so i picked it up. A 3-4 day job, took 8 days. 2. When i got to my friends house to install it, i unwrapped it from the wrap they put it in, and it looked BITCHIN. UNTIL i noticed the holes where my screws were supposed to go into. They were all mangled and not powder coated all the way through. I also noticed in some areas that i could see what would've been a little difficult area to get into, but i had confidence they could do it, was the primer showing, not powder coated at all. At this point i just wanted to put it on my truck so i could go on my vacation already. while i was on vacation, i noticed that inside that hard to reach area where there was just primer, WAS RUSTING. Meaning, the primer didn't get inside the area well enough to seal it from the weather, which was the whole purpose of getting it powder coated. 3. I paid $300 to get this professionally powder coated. I AM NOT HAPPY. read more

I recently went to Beach Cities Powder Coating to have four alloy wheels coated matte black. I had been shopping around for a while and gotten some pretty astronomical prices for the job, especially if there was required labor for removing the wheels from the car. I decided on removing the wheels myself and got quoted a very fair price from Beach Cities for powder coating the wheels, removing and rebalancing the tires and spray painting my wheel caps. The job was great and the wheels look awesome but I was more impressed with the turn around time. Most places claimed 3 - 5 days and I believe some said potentially more, but Aldo at Beach Cities told me 3 days and had them finished early quickly. When I went to pick the wheels up the staff there was very friendly. Two of the wheel caps had been slightly smudged while drying, barely noticeable, but they offered to quickly fix them and get them back to me for no charge. I was confused on the price and thought it was supposed to be 40 dollars less than the invoice, so the staff on hand called his boss and they gave it to me for what I thought it was supposed to be. It turns out I was wrong! When I spoke with them on the phone the next day and offered to pay the additional money I owed they would not accept it and said not to worry about it. Aldo also did a great job of communicating with me throughout the whole process and his estimates for completion were spot on. I had a great experience, paid a fair price and the wheels came out perfect. With so many different options when it comes to powder coating I would recommend Beach Cities because of their excellent customer service and the way they make you feel like your job is important to them. I brought "RB" a set of five classic rims from my classic car to have them powder coated in black. Side note; Anyone who has a classic car wants the absolute best quality paint throughout the building process. Well, when I picked my rims up from RB's shop, they were perfect. The rims did not have any imperfections and were absolutely flawless. RB and his staff were courteous and professional. The prices were GREAT for the high quality job they did. One of the employees helped me load the rims into my truck bed for transportation. They gave me cardboard so that they wouldn't get scratched or damaged. the worst place in the southbay!!! i show up the with a box of mc parts to get a price.the guy working there didnt know prices he has to take pictures n send them to his boss i waited n waited to get a price finally after 1o mins of waiting the rude guy comes back with an outrageous quote!!!..so i ask to speak with someone who can answer my questions n concerns because the guy at counter was useless...sorry but true! so i speak with owner who i thought would be reasonable from reading the reviews....wrong!!!! so he tells me that they do quality work therefor prices are higher than the other powder coating shops..he went down on the price which was a little better...so im thinking of what hes saying....quality work??....sounded goodi got my parts back all wrapped up in plastic....i get home excited to put my harley back together and i start seeing all the mistakes..needless to say i was furious!!..but i wanted to ride my baby so i just put it back together....2 days later the powder starts flaking off on some areas!!!...never again!!! read more

I have had a lot of powder coating done by these guys. Prices are higher than most. The work is pretty good though. I was quoted $75 per wheel for bare metal(no prep work) 16 inch wheels. Other local places were $40-60. I will be trying a new shop for my future business. read more

Update, the owner is full of it, as you can see on his reply, what was the benefit I received? Did he respond to the fact that I did let him fix the problem and he didn't touch my item while they told me it was completed? This is over 2 weeks after I first walked in, the owner told me he wasn't the owner then he admitted he was. He told me I would rip him off because I paid with a credit card, and he gave me a check. I always give an honest review; I don't get anything for doing them. I gave Napa auto parts a 5, and I don't get a discount, I would have given this family business more business but why... I'm sure he makes a good living but he definitely did a 1 star job for me. If you try he might do a good job for you, but just like airlines, there are other options. Finally, if the owner would have been cool, like I thought he was going to be, he would have followed through, and not accused me of ripping him off, I paid in advance!!!!!!!!
