We were looking for a place to grab some food and drinks and came in here because our 1st choice was full. Willah (spelling?) was at the bar and we asked her for a food recommendation. She gave us a few options nearby, once of which was the Mexican place across the street. We ended up going there and had the best time, so we wanted to come back to say thanks and have a drink. We ended up staying here the rest of the night. It was the perfect, clean, dive bar. We talked to some locals, laughed, had fun and felt like we were one of the neighbours. The atmosphere was friendly and light. It wasn't overly loud, so you could actually have a conversation. I only wish this place was in where I live now as I'd come here all of the time.

#THANKYOUTHURSDAY On…read morethe way home from our Cannon Beach overnight trip last weekend, we decided to swing through the Seaside Outlets. I mean, what kind of Washingtonian are you if you don't stop at at least ONE outlet mall? No tax, people... We mainly came to the outlets for Nike, Bath & Body Works, and Carter's. Being wine & beer lovers though, the name of this spot intrigued us. We were pleased to not find anybody else in the store except for the older gentleman working. The store is laid out nicely and is spacious. They've definitely got more wine than they do beer, but they've got a lot of both. The wine selection is phenomenal. So much! They've got wines from Oregon, California, and Washington. So many different kinds. I had a blast looking over all the different bottles and making my selections. My husband was also really happy with the beer offerings here. If you want to enjoy something in the store, you're able to do so. They have both wine & beer on tap available for consumption in the store. I didn't get the gentleman's name who was working, but he was so sweet and so helpful. I was having troubles picking between a few certain wines, and he helped make my decision and it was clear he was super passionate and knowledgeable about the products. Going further on that, he noticed my husband's beer selections and suggested a handful of other beers for him based off of the flavors he seemed to like - aka, we bought more beer than my husband intended ;) Even after grabbing two bottles of wine, and quiiite a bit of beer, after discount we only spent $60! There was a discount for a certain amount of cans (15% off for 8 I believe) and on the wines I snagged apparently too, which saved us $12. Highly recommend stopping by The Wine & Beer Haus if wine and beer is your jam. Outside of the wine & beer we got, the service was spectacular and I can only hope all the employees who work here are like the older gentleman who helped us out the day we were in. Located on the second…read morelevel of Dead Man's Isle, they share a food menu but have a completely different drink menu focused on Japanese spirits like sake, whiskey, and gin. My partner and I had the best time sipping and chatting with Quinn, the bartender. He was knowledgeable, conversational, and made a great drink! The space is small, with four seats at the bar, two floating seats, and two standing only spots. It's an intimate space with lots of Japanese figurines and memorabilia. Behind the bar sits a small TV where the bartender plays physical media (can you believe it!?) -- DVDs and Blue Rays of Japanese films. This is probably our favorite thing we've done in Astoria! Can't recommended enough! A total hidden gem.
