We always try to stop by Dead Man's Isle when we are coming through Astoria because we enjoy it so much. Always fun drinks and good food. This time we got to try the new Japanese whiskey bar located upstairs. There are 4 stools to sit at the bar and a small area to stand. As with the Tiki Bar downstairs, it is always good to make reservations, especially on the weekend. Our bartender was awesome. He explained the different Japanese cocktails and whiskey. There are many different ones to try depending on your likes. You can also order a Tiki drink from downstairs as well as food. My husband got a refreshing highball and a whiskey neat to try. He enjoyed both. I got the Mutant Skull cocktail. It was delicious and served in one of their locally made mugs. As for food I got the pork fried rice, which seemed to be a never ending bowl of deliciousness. I also appreciated the fun hot sauce and chili condiments up in the Japanese bar to try. My husband got the Loco Moco. It comes with a savory curry gravy which kicks it up a notch from just the standard brown gravy. I would order both again. Don't forget to check out the locally made tiki mugs for sale in the case and the tiki mug vending machine in the back.

Classy and cozy spot at the beach!…read more They have a great selection of small plates, flatbreads, and a salad. Also have a nice selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. I had the arugula salad with duck carnitas. It was fantastic. Super tasty and high quality. Folks around me were all raving about how great their meals were. Space is cozy and rustic. They have a few tables inside as well as outside both in front and in back. Service was super friendly. Looking forward to coming back!

We were the first ones there so we chose an outside table. Nice space with the fire table. It's a little off the street so everyone isn't in your business The drinks from the bar were not very good. Also the server was not very knowledgeable of the food or the drinks. We got some duck tacos on special. They were amazing. Ok. Things are looking up. Then the showstopper was the meat and cheese board. So beautiful and well explained and lots of handmade wares on. One of the best, if not the best, board I've had. Top notch. So why the bad reviews. We got to chat with the proprietor and we definitely caught them at a bad time. They are having some transitions in staff so if you're willing to be patient, it's worth a shot

We went for halibut fish & chips but got the lunch special: two halibut fish tacos for $22.00 -- an amazing bargain. The halibut was fresh, the beer batter perfect, and the tacos came on large flour shells with melted cheese on the bottom. I also tried the crab mac & cheese (couldn't resist) -- huge portions, packed with crab (including claw meat) and so delicious that we boxed the leftovers for dinner. Ended the haul with a slice of carrot cake to enjoy later. Island-themed decor, great happy hour, friendly service. We were finishing out 24 hours in the quaint, quirky town of Astoria, after enjoying some amazing…read morerestaurants and all I wanted was a salad. We had managed to eat seafood at every meal and when I saw that T Paul's Supper Club had a Louie salad on the menu (I'm a sucker for a good Louie) we were in! I'm not totally sure of the vibe they're going for and, to be fair I've only been inside one supper club and it was in Las Vegas, so maybe not a fair comparison. We accidentally walked into the bar section, which seemed like a tiki bar. We were sat in the restaurant, which was decorated with an amateurish mish mosh of seemingly random items. I didn't see a stage, but maybe there was a place for a performer. We were there for lunch. The many is extensive, but also don't seem special. Lots of tiki type drinks and many menu items you'd expect. We ordered the calamari to share, on the recommendation of the server. It was pretty good. We also ordered the Louie Louie to share, which actually isn't on the lunch menu but they kindly agreed to make it for us. I should have been alerted when the server asked what kind of dressing we wanted. She listed several, not including thousand island. I responded, "I think a Louie traditionally has thousand island, do you have that?" She did. The salad had many of the elements, most importantly a good sized amount of lump crab meat. That part was good! The other elements were meh. I would have liked avocado. And I think if you're doing a $30 Louie, you need a special dressing. There were maybe 8 bacon bits. Just not a flavorful Louie. Maybe they do other things well, but I won't be back.
