I enjoy my tiki drinks so I made sure to make my way here. I adore the whimsical and specially painted tiki drink vessels. I almost wanted to have everyone order a different tiki drink so I could see how they all look like. Friendly service. Food/snacks available.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute Tiki bar I had no idea existed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I visit Astoria at least a couple times a year and have blindly walked by this cute bar on several occasions. This day we walked by and stopped in our tracks and peeked in the door. The sweet servers behind the counter greeted us and lured us in. I had trouble deciding what drink to order. I usually don't care for time drinks because 9 out of 10 times they taste over done and poorly executed. It was suggested I try Mutant Skull plus it comes in a cool mug. I loved the cocktail Mutant Skull $14 Coconut, pineapple, banana, and guava sing behind a powerful punch of rum. I also ordered Pork Sliders $12 Korean braised pork, pickled onion, fried cabbage, spicy mayo, Hawaiian sweet roll. These sliders were so soft, moist and delicious. Great pairing with the Mutant Scull Cocktail. All in all a great visit I really enjoyed the friendly staff who gave me tips on new places to go.

We were so lucky to stop by for our first ever trip to Oregon and met Audrey who worked her magic behind the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was nice, tiki statues one of a kind tiles and amazingly delicious drinks served in tiki mugs as they should.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We didn't taste the food this trip but after the wonderful time there I hope we make back again. Thank you Audrey

This was a fun addition to our long-anticipated trip to Astoria, OR. Any child of the 80s knows what I mean. Adore how this fab tiki spot lovingly leans into the Goonies like Liverpool does the Beatles (if you know, you know). The decor was fun and very detailed including jade tiles handmade by the owner. While the drinks were spot on and made with great care by our bartender - may I call out how she offered almost any tail on menu (specials included) in an NA version - the food was a surprising treat. A satisfyingly warm and flavorful chicken fried rice, the meat being new to the menu. Pro tip: make sure to check out the new Japanese whiskey speakeasy upstairs - seating for 4 + standing for 2 more.

What a fun spot! Great vibes, great drinks, and great staff! The Dead Man's Grog and Mai Thai '85 were both delicious. The rum made me forgetful, so edited to add: we went on a Thursday and reservations were definitely not needed, but it wasn't empty! I wouldn't be surprised if they fill up on a Friday night.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place! Authentic tiki bar, using premium ingredient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly and knowledgeable

Was looking for some fun drinks while in the area and yelped this location. The awesome cups that brought me in. Unfortunately, when I got my drink, it wasn't in a fun cup, and I was very disappointed as that is the whole reason I went to the location. A regular next to me told me that you have to ask for a special cup, which is silly, so I ended up having to ask her to pour my drink into one of the fun cups. All in all, it's a good drink, just annoyed. You have to ask for a fun cup, and don't just automatically get one. I did learn, though, that there aren't all multiples of cups due to some of the mugs being from the owners own collection.

Hale Pele is hands down my favorite tiki bar in Portland…read more Sure, the space is small and intimate - so there can be a long wait on a weekend night, but it's absolutely worth the experience! As a heads up tho, I wouldn't come here if I had a party more than 4 if you want to seated quickly, less in your party is better! The moment you step inside, it feels like you've been transported somewhere tropical! If it is daytime outside, you wouldn't be able to tell inside of Hale Pele. Between the thunderstorm effects, flickering lights, bamboo accents, and cocktails literally arriving on fire, the whole experience feels immersive! I've been coming here for the last 10 years and it's the spot to recommend for birthdays! The drinks are fire (literally), the food is so good. I recommend the sliders and the Hawaiin bread that comes with the fruit jelly!!! if you feel like escaping Portland for a few hours and spending the evening in Hawaii or the Caribbean, you gotta come here!

Thankfully, the timing worked out where when our friends arrived we were able to be seated fairly quickly so we lucked out. They will not seat you until your entire party is there which I appreciate. The decor is what you would expect it to be with tiki style furnishings all around and a soundtrack to accompany the vibes. Once you walk in and shut the door behind you, it's almost a given that you'll forget the time of day because the entire place is windowless. Another cool feature if you ask me. I have to say when looking around I kept contemplating the fact that someone walked in here and said "yeah, this will make a great tiki lounge". Regardless, they were right! The food was actually delicious. I had the cuban sandwich and the hawaiian bread.

This time around, while visiting Portland Oregon, my wife and I discovered Da' Hui Hawaiian Bar & Grill nestled on Foster Road, it offers quite an array of known and some less known island cookery. Some of their offerings include supposedly Portland's Best Kalua Pork, the likes of Hawaiian Style Chicken, Lemon Chicken and many, many other dishes ready to entice you. A few of us stopped in for a bite and I must say, none of us were thoroughly impressed! One of my fave dishes - Loco Moco in all its simplicity, I thought lacking. I had their Loco Moco consisting of grilled and lightly seasoned (somewhat bland) beef burger patty served over rice, topped with 2 sunny side up eggs (which can't be made wrong), with grilled/sauteed onions and totally smothered with a less than respectable brown gravy, then served with an okay macaroni salad! Although everything we tried was just okay, I found it nothing to write home about. Not bad, but not great either. It's just a place to get your adequate Hawaiian on!
