Dogs, and cats, are welcome at the Beach Front Motel! In fact, all the shores of Flagler Beach, north of Gamble Rogers State Park, are very pup-friendly. And most of the restaurants we found had outdoor seating for dining with our four-legged friend. For our anniversary this year, hubs & I wanted a leisurely beach weekend on Florida's east coast with Gilligan (our 6 year-old chiweenie). And since driving down A1A a couple of years ago, Flagler Beach has been on my radar as a cute beach town with an old-Florida vibe. Our stay at Beach Front Motel perfectly fit that image, and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. I'd reserved a few days in advance; rental rates were great for the first weekend of December 2023, and the pet fee for one dog was incredibly reasonable at $30 for our entire stay. Driving across the state from Tampa on a Friday afternoon, I'd noted on my reservation that we were not sure of our arrival time. Day of, I received contactless check-in details via text. Super easy! As we entered our room, I found our invoice/receipt inside awaiting my signature, with a note to drop it off at the office in the morning. Room #8 wasn't huge, but was a good size with a good layout, and I loved the bright artsy decor & antique-esque furniture. I also liked being on the ground floor with Gilligan, with #CRVyLuna parked directly across the narrow patio for quick & easy unloading and packing up again on Sunday. Two Adirondack--style resin chairs sat right outside our door, with a peek-a-boo view of the ocean, and several tables were a few steps away. Inside, we had a mini fridge, coffee maker & microwave, plus the TV had Spectrum cable so I didn't have to *learn* a new remote for two days since it was exactly the same as my remote at home (don't ask how many times I pressed the "List" button trying to access my DVR). We also found dog treats & a beach towel bundled on the ottoman, along with an extra blanket. The window-style A/C was super loud but it was less bothersome at night after setting the thermostat a little lower so it would stay on longer (for constant white noise). And then that extra blanket came in handy! Our queen-size bed was comfy but we didn't have enough pillows. So when I dropped off my signed invoice/receipt the next morning, I asked for more pillows, and two were brought to our room within a few minutes. The bathroom had plenty of towels, but my favorite thing ever was the bag of rags! Our zip bag had two or three well-used washcloths with a note stating that they were indeed clean in spite of the stains, and ideal for things like make-up removal or extra dirty dog feet. What a great way to re-purpose! Hubs made coffee in our room the first morning & I thought it was fine. That said, the next morning, he went to the office for a Keurig coffee & the variety of flavored creamers offered. I passed on coffee that day; hubs said the coffee he made in-room was better but he loved the creamer choices in the office. Please note that almost all lodging on this stretch of Flagler Beach is on the other side of A1A, from just north of Gamble Rogers State Park to where A1A cuts west a bit south of Palm Coast. So "beach front" means unobstructed views & ample beach access, though you do need to cross A1A on foot to put your toes in the sand & into the Atlantic Ocean. But the beach is narrow (not a lot of sand), and nearly non-existent during high tides, so the walk from our room was still shorter than at many of my local beaches in Pinellas County. Also, A1A is just a two-lane road here, and not very busy, so crossing is easy. In fact, cars stopped for us on several crossings, which we appreciated! I'll add that we found plentiful parking (parallel-style) on the ocean (east) side of the road all along A1A in this area, with many many pedestrian access points to the sand. All of the staff we encountered at Beach Front Motel were friendly & helpful. I'll add that the building is older, but that only adds to the charm in my opinion. Try to give this place a chance and after taking a shower and noticing hair in the drain, (I'm bald) And mold on the floor and shower curtain we decided that we wanted our money back which we only got partial payment back. What a wonderful place to getaway. It is definitely a motel. No frills. Except that you are literally steps away from one of the most magnificent beaches. The rooms are clean, it has an ocean view, direct access to an almost deserted beach, and its walking distance to delicious restaurants. We had a great night away from our kids. You can't beat the location,, truly. Directly across the street from the ocean. Nice neighborhood. Aside from the location, the staff is the next best thing about this place. It is on a busy highway(A1A), so that adds to the noise during peak times of the day and it can be difficult to cross. I've stayed here multiple times, and it is OK. It isn't modern, sparkling, or new. But it is a safe place to stay and the accommodations could be worse. The decor is dated and dingy. The walls were a little dirty. We struggled with the AC--it was either too hot or too cold. In the room we were in (toward the back half), the WiFi was terribly inconsistent. Usually that's not a big deal, but the cell signal was abysmal too, which meant I pretty much never had 5G...I was lucky if I had LTE. That wouldn't be terrible, but we needed to stream if we wanted to watch TV. I saw a bug within the first couple hours we got there, but I know this is an ongoing battle with the beach and Florida in general. The beds were old and saggy. The bedding seemed clean, though. I know they offer long-term rentals, and it seemed like there were some residents there during our stay. The parking lot is sand and it can be tough to navigate if your walking is impaired or unsteady on your feet. The water warmed up for my morning shower as I was putting conditioner on my hair. The walls are VERY thin. Overall, it is a decent hotel if your expectations aren't spectacularly high. There's a great little pizza place next door that has a fantastic flourless chocolate cake. :) otherwise, you'll have to drive every where you go. read more

If you're looking for the Hilton, this isn't it. If you're looking for a retro feel, this is it! The owners are very nice and very accommodating. The room was an adequate size, very clean and cutely decorated. The bathroom is pretty small and soap is provided but not shampoo. Not a problem for my family because we bring our own. There is an area that has a microwave, small fridge and coffee pot. The motel is directly across the street from the beach. And there are restaurants within walking range. We wouldn't have a problem staying here again if we're ever in the area. read more

This is an updated review. Over the years we have taken our vacations here. We always stay at least a week each stay and usually twice a year. We love it! The staff is amazing. They are so friendly and are always there to help if you need anything. We have been to other motels including some of the big name motels but nothing compares to here for wonderful vacations. This motel may be older but it is so charming. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable and the beds are sooo very comfy. We also have some family and friends who also take their vacations with us even if it's only a weekend for them. There is nothing like having vacations with family and friends every year. That tells you just how nice this older charming motel is. It's children and pet friendly. The beach is across the road and restaurants are nearby. read more

Let me start by saying we booked this hotel the day of. Our original 4th of July plan was to go to the beach during the day until the fireworks and leave. We ended up booking here in the early hours of the 4th because my niece and nephew were joining youngest being 3months so the beach all day would have been brutal and that way we would have somewhere to cool off and put the kids down for a nap. Beach front views is the most that this place can offer. Great location. Not so great place to stay. Furniture is old, TVs are old and the place is run down. There are window units many of which are all rusted out on the outside and one was leaking so badly they had a bucket underneath. We are in Florida for one so window units are already a terrible form of cooling anything down in this summer heat let alone older ones. Our room was warmish-cool at best even after closing blinds and being out majority of the day. Towels and sheets were old, the faucet in the tub was broken and dangling. The bathroom was the size of a matchbox (not saying I need a huge space) but if you are claustrophobic have 911 on speed dial. There was also lots of construction going on so you could only make a right out of property and the exit to the parking lot was closed so it made it hard to come and go. Positives - The room did have a little mini fridge and microwave. Our room was a king bed and had two chairs to sit and a table and a chair. Ocean front views - could see fireworks at the pier Beach is across the street Negatives - Run down property Construction all around - could only go in one direction from the hotel One entrance into/out of parking lot so it was tight Old Window units = warm room Old furniture and appliances Broken faucet Small bathroom Ended up paying $180 for the night. Stayed here for my birthday. I knew it was an older place but didn't think it would be bad since I have a appreciation for older places, well I was wrong. Upon arrival of the room the strong smell of cleaner gave me a headache. The bind on the window was zip tied and no curtain what so ever. I found trash under one of the beds. We were supposed to stay 6/9/24-6/13/24 but had to leave because we were scared we would get stuck in the storm that was headed in. I emailed about the policy of early departure several times with no answer. So I basically ate $120 for checking out a day early. Good riddens though. I will not be back. The bed was horrible and I couldn't sleep because of the blinds not covering the entire window!!! read more

Stellar budget accommodations! You're not going to find a place this sweet for $150/ night right across from the ocean. Booked a VERY impromptu 2 night stay & we are already talking about when we can come back next. EXCELLENT air conditioning, comfortable beds, and strong water pressure in the shower. Nothing fancy but who needs fancy when staying for a night. Love the small local owner feel of the motel. LOVE the ocean being right across the street and having access to it within in yards. There is currently an ocean access being built in front of motel. Checkin was smooth and Carl was amazing. Was able to give recommendations for dinner and breakfast. Noon checkout is amazing and not heard of often especially with locally owned motels. 2 stories, quite with no issues. Nancy was amazing and got us a small space heater as the room had a small chill and brought us extra blankets. Not a place you want to stay in the summer. They have a super small Wall AC until that is useless. Got it on 64' but shows the room is 84'. The motel said that it's because it's so hot out!!! Really, try upgrading the unit to a commercial AC unit. We are going to check out tomorrow if we can sleep tonight. We have 2 fans in our room trying to blow whatever cool air from the AC. At $200 a night, this is the biggest BS I've ever experienced. They could fit a larger unit but they're too damn cheap! Don't stay here!!!!! read more

I was pleasantly surprised that a motel directly across from the beach would be so nice, clean, comfortable bed, with a fridge and microwave, and decorated with the cute theme! There are also plenty of great restaurants well within walking distance! No, it's not the Hilton or the Marriott, but it's much closer to the beach than they are! Instead of an Airbnb we decided to stay here at the motel. When we first got there we looked at the bedding and there were stains and hair all over the pillows. When we asked for our money back the employee said no and then they changed the bedding. There weren't any other options so we ended up staying the rest of our trip. The room smelled clean but a little too clean. When we turned on the shower the water was brown when it first came out. Later on during our three night stay, it was loud around the motel and our room smelled of weed. If this is your vibe then you should definitely stay here but if you're looking for something more I would think twice. read more

A 5 star "Motel"? Not by looking, but it depends on what you are looking for. I was on a solo trip last fall and crisscrossing the state...my first stop was Flagler, I stopped by a Best Western near I-95 everybody was Masked Up like Zombies, "No Thanks, this is Florida, not freaking DC or NYC"...so I drove inland, it was late afternoon and I spied this little place, I figured "What the Heck, it would do for a night"...I ended up spending 3 nights. Old 1950s Florida, nothing fancy, but the folks were great, as were my "neighbors"...if you are looking for something upscale, this won't be your cup of tea...if you want something reasonable, and close to that pier and other attractions, and of course the Beach, this might be for you...I'll be back this coming fall, God Willing and Gas doesn't hit $10 bucks a gallon. read more

If you want a very desirable room, facing the ocean and not expensive, choose either #1 or the one above it. They face the ocean. So this place is a steal as far as locations go. Directly across from the beach with access. It Is super affordable and they accept dogs- now for the bad parts- this is a true old motel- the air conditioners struggle in the summer but it is more than that. They are rusted. This seems To be the case with a lot of things In the room. Towel rack, lighting fixtures- that kind of stuff. The walls are in need of a good scrubbing and painting but again- it is an old Motel. The sheets are in less than ideal shape. I kept thinking sand was in the bed but upon further inspection they are pilling bad. Now for what really burned my biscuits- it advertises daily house keeping- to me that means someone comes and sweeps the floor, replaces the towels and possibly sheets if requested. We were here four nights. On day two I requested some more Towels and the lady I assume to be housekeeping Said is there anything else you need and I Told her no. She responded great, I will mark you off for service. It is the last day and we have yet to see anyone else or get whatever servicing this is. We are at the beach so I get sand is going to get in The room but I finally broke down and just bought a broom to sweep- now the lady who manages this yelp account is going to say- well you should have called for servicing- no it doesn't say on the website call if you want servicing- it says daily servicing. Now would I stay here again- maybe but I understand what a old motel Looks like- but then again A1A ocean club is a half a mile down the road for 50-75 more a night and they also accept dogs. read more

Had never stayed at Beachfront Motel before this past weekend! When I called the motel Nancy was very helpful with my check in. Our room faced the beach very large room for myself and my corgi Sheldon! Upon checking in Kelly gave me information about the area and took a pic of Sheldon before we left! Everyone that worked there were very friendly! The beach cafe next door had some great food also! What more could someone ask for beachfront view, ocean just across the street and food next door! We lasted 20 minutes at this motel. Room was cold with a teeny portable heater as the suggested option. WiFi did not work. Room in need of a makeover, particularly considering the room rate. Beach Front Motel is one of the best places to stay. Every year our family takes one or 2 weeklong vacations. We have stayed at several motels between St. Augustine and Ormand Beach. This one beats them all which is why we keep coming back for our vacations. It is family and pet friendly. The women who run it make sure that you have everything you need and that your stay is very comfortable. They are very kind, friendly, and helpful. We stayed there In October and everything was perfect. The motel is very clean and comfortable which are the most important things to me. Where do I begin..... Ok, so I loaded up the family in St. Pete and decided we would go stay in the beach in Flagler as a surprise. I had the little woman ( I call her that because she is VERY pregnant ) as I was saying the little woman and her 16 year old son and I started driving to Flagler beach. We called one of the online places that searches and books for you. I told them I wanted a King bed with a separate room and or a pull out for our boy with a full OCEAN view and balcony. I know what I wanted and they said they found it. We gave our billing info and were very excited. As we are driving we get about 10 minutes from this place and are called and told they don't have the room we just drove hours to get too. I was shocked !!! Dora then tells me it's ok she has two double beds no balcony and not a full Ocean view... wtf... I can stay home and sleep in a king bed with no ocean view so why in the world would I pay to sleep in someone else's smaller bed and drive HOURS to do it ? She continues to tell me it would be fine while I continued to tell her it would not !!! I was told all I wanted to do was argue when all I wanted to do was tell her that I paid booked scheduled and paid online for a room and then drive to it only to be told nope your out of luck. I also had the online service we used on a separate phone and they apologized for Dora and said she was not what they expect from someone they send people too. Long story short the online service refunded my money and gave me a $200 Credit for another time. We ended up just going home.... This place should never be used with service like that. Dora sold our room to someone else and continued to tell me it was my fault for booking a few hours prior to arriving. Shame on you read more

Was extremely comfy! Super cheap, large space, clean (we saw the owner cleaning the mattresses and everything). Right on the beach, unbeatable location. Highly recommend this place and the cafe next door ("by the sea"). Oh to turn on the shower pull the end of the spigot. read more

Per friendly on the ocean- old old old- great price BUT there are a few permanent residents who are drinking from noon on and got very rowdy with music last night. I think there are a few alcholics living there in various rooms. The wi-fi DID NOT work at all in my room and I am typing this from the office- a big inconvience.Another guest had the same complaint. The manager Bill is a joy & so helpful.... Price was good but towels linens are BEAT as well as my mattress. You get what you pay for. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. The lady, Deborah maybe?, is a straight psycho and Carl sounds nice but is an idiot. I made reservations over the phone because its a dive but dirt cheap. It was going to rain so I cancelled. Carl sounded bum but said okay. Next weekend I called on Friday and asked Carl if I could come next week due to the weather and he said fine. Saturday comes and this lady with short blonde curly haur who calls me baby and sounds real nice says you dont have a reservation but come. I said I already paid over phone. She says no, no we dont do that and is annoyed. Red flag but I said I will show you I paid when I get there. I come, sign in and go to the room. Red flag number two - every person is blasting music and getting drunk at five pm. Kids running all over and a big dog barking. She calls me back to pay. I said I told you I did and show her on my phone I paid. " I dont know what con you and Carl got but you didnt pay!" What a pitty! Such a beautiful location with owners that obviously don't give a rat's behind about keeping business. I CANNOT imagine they get repeat customers. My husband booked us a room on line for my birthday. The first room we were in (and we checked in late so there was no-one in the office to complain to) everything was in horrible disrepair. We immediately checked for bed bugs because it just gave that feeling. Thankfully we didn't find any. The floor was dirty, the sink only had very hot water so my kids had to wash their hands in the tub and the tub drained so slowly three was still standing water in it the next morning. Also, if you laid to close to the edge of the bed, you'd roll right off. My son almost did and he's only 50lbs. The next room we were in, everything worked however there were these black spots all over the wall. Upon closer review. They were dead mosquito and fly carcasses all over. I stayed because I didn't want to ruin the surprise my husband tried to give me but we were both absolutely disgusted the whole time.
