Tucked into an unassuming strip mall next to the big Verizon store and behind the DD, the tinted windows subdue the brightly lit colorful interior. Being the only person in the shop at the time, I was enthusiastically greeted by a young lady who came from the back, where they make all their delicious gelatos. The shop was immaculate and even had cornhole right at the entrance, and self serve reach-in cases in the back, filled with other great flavors, Gelato sandwiches, and I even saw a gelato key lime pie! As a gelato enthusiast, I was happy to see that the gelato is stored in gelato pans because typically that presents a more authentic experience and taste. However, I would say this was more of a doughy ice cream consistency and taste, rather than a dense, silky and creamy gelato. Gelato is typically made with more milk, less cream and little to no eggs. Mattys appears to possibly use cream and eggs based off of the airy and doughy texture.
