Great job by the city to raise the bar on vacations. Another reason to come and spend your summer in va beach.

For the first concert, I had to stand way in the back and unfortunately i wasn't able to see much. The dome doesn't have any screens of the stage so if you don't have a good view of the stage, you're kinda screwed. Thankfully the other two shows i was up fairly close so the view was great but any further back it's kinda blah. Sound system is great but i really wish they had screens of the stage on the sides like most bigger venues do. At the second show, one of my friends got pizza and it was terribleeee it was so low effort, yet expensive. The drinks are also fairly high, but i do expect that in Virginia Beach. The seats were also extremely tight, it was a task trying not to bump those next to me or even have enough arm room. There is a parking garage attached to the dome, which most times you can pay for along with your ticket(s), however, I wouldn't park there unless you plan on leaving the show before the let out. There are other nearby parking lots that are a block or two away that are more convenient.

I didn't frequent Peabody's since I have never been a person who loves dancing or DJs. Also, I was outside of Peabody's target demographic of 18-24 year-olds. This was during my "bitter chick rock" phase that still rears its head now and then, and one of my favorite bitter chick bands was L7! I saw their show at Peabody's on April 15, 1997. It was a great venue for this raw, bitter, loud band with a house packed and standing room only of fans trying their best to make a mosh pit. I guess Hole was my second favorite bitter chick band. Back to the L7 show. Classified as grunge, punk, and metal, I think L7 is more chick punk. Their guitarist was unavailable this night, and they replaced her with a local Va Beach chick guitarist who did a great job. The locals recognized her, I didn't. Smoking was allowed inside, and this audience was pretty aggressive for the times, with a lot of college aged guys wearing backwards baseball caps. That's fine, until the guys use their ballcaps as weapons to poke me in the forehead and face to try to keep me out of their mosh pit making range. The goal of the audience was to get to stage front. The audience even resorted to using cigarette lighters to burn each others clothes. Who does this? This show was during "The Beauty Process" tour and the setlist was great with songs from previous CDs including "L7" and other previous music. Par for the course, during "Cat-O-Nine Tails," a guy in leather bondage was brought on stage and then whipped with a whip by Donita, the lead singer. I'm confident this was just a show, and the poor guy wasn't hurt. "The Masses are Asses" is another L7 tune I like. Why no fifth star? The bouncers were interesting. They waited for patrons to make their way to the stage and for the most part, escorted the patron to the door - kicking nearly each one out. The crowd was "elbow to elbow" making it clear it was difficult to just take an overly rowdy and rough patron from the center of the crowd to kick them out. Still, the bouncers were sophomoric, and should have managed the crowd better. I'm happy to have seen L7, I'm happy my party were hurt, and I'm happy Peabody's provided a sizeable venue for an alternative show in the late 90s!

It's basically the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben of the Oceanfront; towering, iconic, and perfect for photos. I got an amazing pic there with my little brother that I'll always treasure. The park itself is a chill, grassy space right off the boardwalk, often buzzing with live music and people just soaking up the vibe. It's the perfect spot to relax after a stroll or while waiting for the next show to start, there's also beach access not too far from the park if you want to feel the sand in-between your toes, soak up the sun, or hop in the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounding the park is a whole world of things to do; plenty of places to eat, drink, and shop within walking distance. Whether you're in the mood for seafood, a cocktail, or something sweet, it's all right there. Great views, good energy, and that unforgettable Neptune statue this spot is a Coastal Virgina staple for tourists and locals alike.

There are not many places where you can hear hardcore rap on the oceanfront. In fact, I would say Hammerheads is the only place. So if you want to hear Nikki Ménage, Lil Wayne and Lil Wayne & Nikki Ménage non-stop, then this is the place to be. Aside from those two distinguishing features, Hammerheads is like any other bar on The Block: tiny and crowded. There's nothing spectacular here, just a place to go and get drinks. Still a locals favorite (mostly frequented during the winter when the parking is free and so is the cover), Hammerheads attracts a huge summer crowd of just turned 21s and other rowdy drunk folk. My highest regards to the bartenders and waitresses who manage the huge crowds needs with lightning speed.

My experience with this place was over even before I got in. Me and a couple of friends wanted to check this place out as we were out of town. I went to have my ID checked by one of the bouncer, who examined it for nearly a minute. The bouncer asked that I confirm the address on my ID two times. After I gave him that, he asked for ANOTHER ID (ridiculous at this point). After giving him another ID for ANOTHER MINUTE, he asked for my address again. After I gave him the address again, he told me that he could not let me in, and insisted on keeping my original ID (which was my license). I had to get a police officer to come over and get my ID from the bouncer, so he can give it back to me. Even the police officer said that the picture on the ID looks like me. Absolutely appalling the things I had to go through with this bouncer. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. It's obvious that this place discriminates on the patrons that try to get in. This was definitely one of the downfalls of my trip to Virginia.

It appears very unassuming from the outside. At night, there are some really nice lights that come on. There also seemed to be an outdoor stage setup. The concert I saw was amazing and everything sounded great. My only complaint: most of the patrons were so loud and obnoxious and more interested in their own drunken banter, which made it difficult to hear the music even though I was front row. If you're going to a concert (or doing anything else for that matter) and feel the need to get drunk or high in order to enjoy it, then that's a problem of your own that needs to be addressed and dealt with properly, not by subjecting others to it and robbing them of their own natural ability to live life. Other than that, it was a great evening. Nice place and I wouldn't mind returning to see another show. I just hope that the crowd there will want to see a show too and not take away from who we actually pay to see.

It got unusually dark very fast and there was torrential rain downpour 30 minutes before 7pm start but swift decision was made for the show to have delayed start until further notice. Thank goodness for not cancelling the concert altogether! The concert finally started at 9pm but was well worth it. The amphitheater itself accommodated a lot of people, was told full house at 20k people! The acoustics was great but what's even better is the strategic location of jumbo screens where regardless of where you are on the lawn section, you get clear view of the screen. Concession stands provided a wide variety of food and beverage options: $2 hotdogs, Mac & cheese which you can add chili and barbecue sauce toppings. There are chicken tenders, 2 for $10. Recommend that they offer hot drinks like coffee, tea or hot chocolate for non-alcoholic drinkers. The guest services staff were efficient in giving out free beverage tickets for designated drivers: you handful show license ID and your companion whom you're driving home. They were also very strict in enforcing clear bags or small dimensioned bags. I had to check mind in, given a ticket for it and claiming my bag at the end of the show was organized and quick.
