The theatre is small and classic with a little concessions area and nice bathrooms. It's a single-level theatre but the seats are angled well enough that no one's going to block your view of the stage. Really, any seat is a good seat. I attended the inaugural Virginia Cat Festival (day 1) here, with Jackson Galaxy as the keynote speaker. I enjoyed my visit all around and the venue was clearly clean and well-kept. I'd attend another event there in the future.

There is a food truck who will bring you your orders which is good. Any dancing or moving to the live music has to happen on the fringes or behind the people having dinner. Nothing about this set up let's you enjoy a crowd, to dance, or to get close to some really good live music. Such a shame. such a waste. Then after the first set the house lights got turned on. I recommend the Mezzanine as you can see everyone and the entire set clearly. Wells Theatre has quite the talent! All the actors/cast performances were expressive, engaging, dynamic, powerful, and nuanced! While not overly dramatic, they were compelling and vibrant and lively without being nauseating. I loved the quick wit, and humor in A Sherlock Carol and the cast excellent! Some of the main characters in A SHerlock Carol are also in A Merry Christmas Carol as well. It's a small theatre that opened in 1913, and is a national historic landmark. It has ornate features inside and they sell light snacks and alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks at their concession stand.

Showed up early prior to doors opening to ensure we got a good spot which is a must especially if you'd like to be close to the stage. The staff was really friendly and set up barricades by the door which helped corral the line. I loved that they had a metal detector set up and a security check point. I felt very safe and comfortable the whole time. I will say be prepared to stand for an extended period especially if you show up early. There is little to no seating available and as show time nears it is practically standing room only. So wear comfy shoes! Overall it's a nice venue and I am glad we have it as an option here in Richmond!

As a member of the jury, we analysed witness testimonies, cross-examinations, and forensic evidence in a search for the truth. The case involves the accidental death of a pedestrian by an autonomous taxi vehicle and the subsequent man slaughter trail of the AI's developer. We the jurors voted using our phones along with QR codes concerning three key elements of the trail and finally to either convict or acquit. It was great fun however I wish the theater offered more comfortable seating!!!

When it is set up as standing room, as it is for most events, it is too crowded and "atmospheric" on the floor when everyone has been availing themselves of the bar's wares. When I was younger I would not have minded as much, but now standing for an hour or three is not my thing. BUT when they set the hall up with seating, as they did for Patton Oswalt's show last night, you have to deal with very cheap plastic folding chairs that put pressure in the wrong places and strain to hold folks of any above average size. I know, it's hard to please some people. Accoustically the hall is good. Bathrooms are cleanish. Ticketing was easy. Parking is a challenge.
