What happened? We were ready for a BIG greasy vacation lunch after a 4 hour drive...maybe small expectation of leftovers for dinner. DID NOT HAPPEN. Every item in the menu was $15 and above. I got the grouper bites and my husband the chicken fingers. Mind you - my bites for $16 were supposed to come with "hush puppies" I literally got 4 fish fingers and 2- yes TWO hush puppies- no fries. My husband got FOUR chicken fingers in his "basket" with maybe a handful of frieS...maybe We literally thought we were served kids meals- like where is the rest for $15? Plus side nice people working but those prices and portions were an absolute ass raping- never again. read more

Had a really great time at this bar. I was in for 3 days straight. Awesome live music, and the manager was great. Literally the best bar manager I've seen. Very friendly and attentive. It was a little tainted the last night. I got in at 1am. The doorman was pocketing money that was supposed to go to door entry. The bartenders that night were rolling their eyes at everyone's orders. My experience at BTs was okay. The interior is your typical bar/tavern setup with an arcade room and an entertainment room with darts. They often have live music/ fun events like karaoke in the evenings. I went for lunch and ordered the peel and eat shrimp. My friend ordered the clam chowder with a grilled cheese. We waited around 30 minutes for our food and they weren't very crowded. My shrimp were so overcooked, I couldn't even peel some of them. However, my friend said it was the best clam chowder he'd ever had. The staff was very friendly and I would consider going back for one of the events. read more

Thisbuse to be a fun place!! Any time of the year. The service use to be fun!! Sammie and the other bartenders. Its a bar so fine dining isn't expected. But you used to be able to get a great cup of chowder!! And a cheeseburger. The food is sub par and the service sucks. This is a gambling establishment only!! Truly disappointed and we are not normal tourists. We have a place near here and children that live here. Not much social distancing enforced or masks. Even the employees did NOT wear masks. But the beer is cold and the food was very good food r bar food. We started with beers and the nacho appetizer. We had cheeseburgers, grouper, and a chef salad for supper. Lots of excitement as black balloons and cake moved into the party room. There is plenty of parking. A huge bar and a pool room. read more

This is in a small beach community and you can definitely tell they are more used to and would rather serve the locals than out of towners. The menu is rather small and not a whole lot to be desired. The food was decent. I've had better and I've had worse. I would visit here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Just terrible. Serving size is for an infant. Ordered chicken fingers for $15 and they were minuscule, almost smaller than chicken wings. Side was fries which was a handful at most. Wife got grouper bites and hush puppies. She literally got 2 hushpuppies and 4 little grouper bites. We were actually embarrassed at what they brought us, it was ridiculous. Walked in with my husband and sat at a table for 10 mins. NOTHING. Nobody greeted us, nobody came to the table, NOTHING. The place felt nasty, looked half finished and quite honestly I don't think anyone there was safe to drive home. It was a disgusting experience. We will never be back and we're locals. read more

Here on vacation, wanted to have a couple of drinks. We got to the bar around 8:15, had a round, ordered another. 8:45 comes and the bouncer for the evening approaches us and says we have to pay a $10 cover if we want to stay and drink more. This type of place isn't even in the realm of a bar that should charge a cover. It's a dive and I don't mean that as a criticism. The manager loudly stated the couple next to us wouldnt have to pay the cover - it seemed pretty selective which existing customers were getting chosen to pay a $10 cover. The manager was "kind" enough to let us finish our drinks we'd already paid for, but "if we're still sitting here at 9:15, that's $10 per person." Realistically would've spent another $50-$100 there, but the manager just had to get the $20 in cover charges even though we'd been sitting at the bar for an hour. Probably great for locals. If you're vacationing, I'd avoid. read more

Why is it that you can go to a restaurant with amazing food and the service sucks so bad you give 2 stars and then you come here where the food is above average but the service is so good you give them 5 stars? There are restaurants that have bars and there are bars that serve food. This is the latter. Not sure but I think smoking is allowed? For what it is...its GREAT. Had some chicken tenders n fries, liked both. If you get real food (beef tips and rice, etc) and not the junk food like I did you may say this is great food ‍ Decent beers on tap (8), and theres free pool with lunch? As some reviewers say, this place may have seen its better days. The service was nice, but with only one person over the whole bar and "dining room," it was easily overrun and bogged down. The beer selections are ok (and varied), and there's a pretty big menu. The chicken tenders, onion rings, and chili fries were all good and hot. Prices are ridiculous for the portion and quality that is served. Grouper basket came with three very small fillets (not sure if it was even grouper). Batter fell right off of them and couldnt even eat it properly. Waitress messed up orders even after saying and pointing to the items on the menu directly. All meals we're definitely kid size portions and all appeared to be just frozen items that were quickly fried or heated. Over all ambiance of the place was disappointing as well. Clutter all about, empty boxes and random room doors open full of junk. The odor of old spilled alcohol consumes your nostrils upon entry. The place needs to drop the prices, drop the menu that appears to be fancy or good food, and call it what it is, a bar that sells appetizers. Stopped by BT's for some takeout after a day at the beach and had a beer at the bar while I waited for my order. Seemed to be a good place if you wanted to get a beer and watch some sports or play some pool or pinball, had a few other games as well. The NE clam chowder was delicious, the wings not so good , Rueben sandwich was so-so and the loaded nachos mediocre. read more

2 additional stars due to Covid disruption. With that said, we should have paid more attention to the reviews and the fact that it's a bar first and food is clearly an after thought. Ordered grouper basket and it was very gross. Soggy and meat had clearly spoiled. Looked like they took the leftover pieces from someone else's meal and tossed it in the takeout box. Hush puppies under cooked and consistency of catfish bait. Also ordered the New England clam chowder. No clams , food service frozen potatoes in a watery broth with no taste. Thankful for the saltines. Service was good but can't make up for really bad food Save your money ($19) and go to McDonald's for a fillet of fish or try your luck at one of the other many restaurants to choose from. read more

It was our first time at BT's. We had a party of 7 and everything is trying to get back to normal after the pandemic, so we were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. It took about an hour and a half to get our meal to us in which our waitress disappeared for the entire time. The place was not terribly busy, and after flagging down and asking how much longer it will take to get our food; miraculously it showed up. Our order was not anything complicated, a handful of burgers and an order of nachos. The nachos came out cold and soggy, the person (not our waitress) who brought our food our, states that the whole order was just sitting in the back for an hour or so. Unfortunately, we come down to Emerald island quite a bit each year and this will be the last time we eat here read more

Steamed shrimp is good, service at the bar is good. New owners are apparently allowing vaping indoors. Or at least no one is stopping it. I love breathing burnt perfume exhales....had to leave early, may or may not return. I'm a local, not a tourist, but also only a monthly customer so not a real regular. Been coming here for about 10 years. This is the first time I actually felt like I owed it to the next guy to give a warning. This place has been on a downward slide for years. Food is hit or miss, if it's a miss, the wait staff will argue with you about why it's not as bad as you think ("yes the nachos should be hot, you waited 40 minutes for them but they're cold not because they've been sitting, but because there was a big take out order"....[wha?] ... ) The old rule was: never order the wings again (40 minute wait, come out raw), only get a burger or the nachos. Today... nachos come out cold, they were "just made" but kitchen was busy. So... down to only order a burger? Our better yet... go somewhere else. read more

The Beach Tavern is probably one of the best most classic places to dine at. They have an amazing selection of foods. My favorite would be the stuffed potatoes they make them just right. This place filled me up and I was dry impressed that the pinball machine had a couple of plays still in it from the last person. This is a great place to go for some good grub. read more

After being told to seat ourselves when we walked in, we saw that all the open tables were still dirty so we simply walked back up to the front to wait for one to be cleaned. The bartender asked what we were waiting for and we politely said we were just waiting for a table to be cleaned and she had the worst attitude and said "why can't you just sit at the bar" as she turned her back to us to walk away. Pitiful that they allow their employees to speak to people is such a nasty way. We immediately turned around to leave don't know how the food is. read more
