We went here after a boat tour. I had the barbecue chicken wings six piece with ranch. They were really good served hot and fresh. I love the flavor of the barbecue. I cannot say enough about how much we absolutely love this place! My husband and I stopped in a few years ago and have been hooked since! We started with the hands down best guacamole, salsa & chips we've ever had, not to leave out the delicious chicken tacos I got or the cheese steak my husband had. Everything including the service was exceptional! I loved it so much we stopped back by on our way home to have some chips, guac and salsa for our 7 hour drive home! Now every visit since (and we usually come down 2-3 times a year) Lighthouses Sports Bar is on the top of our must-have list! We've had nothing but great service and even better food! Honestly the food is okay at best and the service is awful. We got in there and had never been, and the bartender just kinda looked at us. Finally she told us we pick our seats and when she was taking our orders she was so rude. If your not a local dont go here good god. We stumbled upon Lighthouse Sports Bar when we were visiting Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and were camping in the area. We had a long day of driving, and didn't feel like cooking. This is definitely a local spot because everyone seemed to know everyone coming in, which made for a really friendly environment. My girlfriend and I decided to split two of their taco plates: the steak and the mahi-mahi tacos. I knew we were close to the coast, so I thought the mahi mahi tacos would be the best, but the steak tacos were out of this world! They were really delicious, although I wish the tortilla hadn't been friend, and that there was a little more meat on the tacos compared to the amount of cilantro and onions. We also ordered a side of onion rings that went well (didn't really go with the meal, but we were craving them)! Definitely check this place out if you're in the area! read more

My husband and I walked in on a slow afternoon looking for some lunch. We were specifically looking for tacos and Lighthouse Sports Bar was the closest to our house in Hatteras Village. Place was very clean and definitely a comfortable sports bar with 3 pool tables. We both ordered the mahi mahi taco trio with mine having avocado added. His paired with a Corona and lime, mine with delicious rum and fruit beverage. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. Tho it was very quiet upon our arrival, we never felt neglected. When the tacos came out they looked spectacular. So good, I forgot to take a picture. Salsa and sour cream served on the side was great. These may have been the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. The shells were crispy, the fish cooked perfectly and the toppings on point. I am now surprised we didn't see more reviews for this spot. And while I enjoyed the quiet, they should definitely be receiving more appreciation. May be one of the few places we eat at twice before we leave. A definite high recommendation!! read more

Today was a hard day with the tropical storm. Most restaurants were closed. This one wasn't. It had all the screens out up with college football and the beer was good. Well we tried! Arrived early in the afternoon today to anxiously try the Lighthouse Sports Bar. Sat down at the bar--a number of open stools. Bartender walked by once, twice, three times then finally a fourth. What did he say: Hi welcome to The Lighthouse Bar--No. Hello can I get you something to drink--No. Hello I will be right with you--No. Hi, we are having issues but I will get to you soon--No. We waited for a while. Nothing! Then another bartender/server walked by once, twice, three times then a fourth. She looked directly at us each time with that unhappy, semi-angry look. Nothing! Well, since this was not a case of being short staffed, or end of season issues, we slowly (giving the confused and incompetent wait staff one last chance) pushed back on our creaky bar stools and left. Not very happy with this place. Came in for dinner and all they had left were tatertots French fries and wings. We ordered the wings and they weren't good at all. It was all chicken fat barely any chicken on them and there was barely any Buffalo sauce on them. Not to mention service was non existent. To top it all off because we were out of state they would not serve drinks to us which was stated by the server..I've been to many places in the outer banks and have never heard of that because we were served alcohol even if we were out of state. Overall it was not a great experience and won't be returning. Referring to the business owners comment below: I'm sure at 30 years old I wouldn't need to carry a fake ID. Maybe you should train your staff on how to properly read out of state IDs because clearly the photo is there and so is the birthdate. Lying to your customers that you don't sell alcohol to out of staters just because you have no knowledge of how to read an out of state ID is rude and disgusting. Also based on your reply you seem to not really care about the customers nor their business. Have a good one. read more

It's obviously a great place for the locals. But vacationers should avoid. Came for karaoke. If you are not a regular you will not be able to sing much. Locals take over rotations and the visitors are left to question weather they will ever get to sing or not. Food was good. Service was the worst. read more

My boyfriend, his brother's friend, and I came in for lunch today soon after the restaurant opened super hungry and excited because we have heard great things about lighthouse. My boyfriend was very excited to order a beer because his 21st was a few days ago. He has already used his ID at multiple locations on Hatteras Island and in Buxton and has not had any issues. When my boyfriend went to give the waitress his ID he put down multiple forms of ID as he just turned 21. When the waitress was sketched out about his ID initially, he asked her to run it in a scanner (we are from PA- many places scan ID's there) and she told him he was 21 and had no idea what he was talking about very rudely. He has a completely valid PA driver's license. She talked to another employee (who we heard say it seemed like a legit license) and came back and said she would not be serving him any alcohol today. We are very disappointed with the attitude of the waitress during our visit as well as the fact that he had a completely valid out of state license that has been fine at any other bar in the area. We had heard great things about lighthouse and were upset with our experience today. read more

Some friends and I came to the Outerbanks the first week of March, and most of the restaurants were still closed. We were looking all over for an open restaurant and came across this sports bar and we're very thankful it was one of the few places open in the off season! This is your classic sports bar, and seems to be very popular. Located right near the lighthouse itself, the location is great. I got the Buxton Burger and loved it, my wife got wings and enjoyed them as well. Got a pound of shrimp to split and they were very good and fresh. First off, I don't understand some of the negative reviews. It's Covid and they are making do in a crappy situation with regulations they have to deal with. Things change, and will continue to change. The food here was pretty good. The burgers were cooked to perfection and the requested temp. The meat in the burgers actually had flavor and didn't rely on condiments or add-ons to make the burger better. I only wish I could have had Cole slaw on my burger. The wings were really good with classic eastern NC bbq sauce. The drinks were priced fairly and my service was fine considering it was opening night of football season in one of the few dine in establishments in the OBX. Yes I recommend this place, highly. After only one visit, I'm a fan of this place. It's little more than a hole-in-the-wall with a few pool tables, a dart board, some TVs tuned to sports, and battle-scars on the bar and floor from when people were allowed to smoke indoors. They offer beer and those weird, fruity concoctions that are now sold in bottles. The owner told me that he tries to keep at least one "beer geek" beer on tap at all times so you don't have to settle for something with "light" in the name. What really makes this place are two things: the people and the dogs. The people who work there are genuinely friendly and open even with strange, asshole tourists like me. Even the customers are that way. You're a friend unless you prove otherwise. Their bar dogs, Oliver and Emma, are sweet, gentle, funny, and a real treat to meet. If you're down on Hatteras Island, you could do a hell of a lot worse than spending a few hours on their porch scratching an old dog and watching the twilight move in. read more

We stopped by the Lighthouse sports bar for some NFL football on a Sunday afternoon and boy, this is definitely one of the more unique bars I've been to. With the well-worn couches, countless sports memorabilia, and old-school pool tables and darts, you kind of feel like you're stepping into grandpa's basement in the absolute best way possible. I was expecting to see a bunch of Panther fans but nope, there were customers wearing jerseys from every NFL team (go Skins!). After reading numerous Yelp reviews about the shrimp and grits, we had to get an order and it is super tasty. Very rich, comforting, and you can't beat fresh Carolina shrimp. I recommend splitting this because it is so decadent and rich. The Lighthouse is a great place to grab a beer and mingle with the local crowd. Zero stars...I had to pick one because Yelp wants you to. Take the one star as -1 star. I ordered a $13.00 club sandwich and it was not as described on the menu. The turkey and ham was the thin sliced deli meat from the cheapest prepackaged processed meat you could buy. The American cheese was Velveeta, and they tried to fancy it up with a weak slice of Swiss. One half of the sandwich had a half of a tomato slice, the other had a third of a slice of bacon. I am thankful I did not spend $2.50 on avocado, that would have been a waste. I ordered fries as a side and they were raw. If an establishment cannot come up with a club sandwich, steer clear. Every great sports bar has an awesome club sandwich. Skip this place. There are way better options. I would add a picture, but I am not retrieving the sandwich from the trash can. read more
