Not impressed a bit. Raised eyebrows across the board from our whole group on the unoriginal menu; Many elements seem to be "borrowed" from other area long established leading restaurants. For such an extravagant aesthetic, you'd think they'd have taken the time to bring in a new chef to the area to help create an original menu that set it apart from everywhere else rather than settle as a copycat. Our family came down for a quick vacation and stumbled upon this place after playing at the beach all day. It's family friendly, the service was excellent, and the food was incredible. The chipotle flounder is second to none! I couldn't recommend it more. But everything we got was delicious. We tried the calamari, pecan mahi , seafood enchiladas, and fried fish. And I am normally disappointed with chocolate desserts at restaurants, but their chocolate eruption cake was the perfect ending to a great meal. It's heavenly! read more

SO impressed with the turnaround here! I visited this place about a year ago during a bachelorette party. We ordered drinks and half our drinks came out wrong and had to be sent back. Then we waiting a long time to be able to order food, to be fair it was busy. The food to an incredibly long time to come out. Which, initially wasn't a big deal because we were enjoying the view and hanging out together. Then the mosquitoes came. They just swarmed the place. At the time, it wasn't enclosed so there was a nice breeze but the mosquitoes were awful. They had bug spray available to put on, but it wasn't helping at all. When our food finally came we immediately got to-go boxes and left to eat our food back in our room. I wasn't expecting much different this time, but since we're camping next door at the RV Park, this was just a convenient place to grab some dinner after a long afternoon of setting up camp. We walked in and the entire place has been enclosed! The AC was blowing nice and cold and we were greeted immediately by our waitress. It was moderately busy, but not packed. We ordered drinks and shortly after ordered food. Our food came out quickly and it was hot and delicious! I had the seafood enchiladas which were amazing and my boyfriend had the shrimp po-boy. Terrible service! If I could give this place -7 stars I would. The website says they stay open until 2am. I downloaded and created a Yelp account specifically to leave this review. We show up at 8:58 and the waitress says they may be closing at 9. She then goes and consults the kitchen staff, then comes back and seats us. The waitress was talking with another table, so the bartender takes our order. Right off the bat he says "I need your order because the kitchen staff is ready to close." We order 3 plates and an appetizer. The waiter/bartender goes to enter the order at the kiosk, but not before THROWING the menus on the front desk!!!!!!! I ordered the Diabla Shrimp and ceviche appetizer, which was less than mediocre. My son ordered the seafood tacos with shrimp and the corn tortillas weren't even warm. This place is not a worth the price. We paid $75. for three plates and an appetizer! The deck overlooking the beach is the most appealing attribute. However, the deck was completely dark and uninviting. We will not be returning. read more

Short on staff on a Sunday afternoon with a beach full of people: dirty dishes left on tables, no barman at the bar, had to chase waiters for sliver ware and napkins while our food was getting cold. Asked for fish and shrimp tacos with no added salt. Waiter said not to worry, they do not put salt in those anyway. When the food came, it was so salty I had to leave it in the plate. My husband and I have tried this restaurant 3 times now, ordering different items each time. The food is always excellent and the menu is awesome. Outstanding cook. The waiter remembers our drink order and brings it right to the table. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive. Great recommendations on the food to try. And the view, Wow ... honestly, you can travel all over the world and rarely find a restaurant right on the beach, much less get a table overlooking the beach. Do yourself a favor and try it out, you will not be disappointed. We have found a great place to bring our friends and family. See you there. read more

We attended on a Tuesday evening. The place seems pretty new and very nice and clean. Prompt service. Big big sign on the wall and another on the menu stating plainly that they are not a fast service place. They want you to sit back and relax. Even with that, we got chips and salsa and when it was done our food was ready. Husband got the burger and I got the fish tacos. Oh my!!!!EXCELLENT fried fish tacos!!! The slaw and sauce was great! Burger had no complaints either. Our only complaint is the salsa: but we are kind of salsa snobs. It seemed too tomato tasting, like tomato paste was used. But was better after I mixed in the jalapeños from my pico. It definitely needs more jalapeño and cilantro. read more

Lunch during the week day. Six adults and 4 yr olds we're seated immediately because it wasn't too busy. The waitress was very good and the food was served in a decent time. Each of us ordered something different and each was very tasty. Good prices for good food. Would definitely recommend this place to any out of towner in the area. We are Surfside homeowners for over 10 years and have eaten here a couple times but won't be back. Service was incredibly slow and forgetful. They were definitely understaffed and multiple tables were getting tired of the service. The nail in the coffin to top off our experience was a long hair in my wife's burger--thanks for the floss but we'll pass from now on. read more

Came here with the family, we were a large table and I told the waitress ahead of time we would be splitting checks so she could get things in order. Unfortunately our food came out and mine was missing. I had to track down the waitress after waiting for about 10 minutes thinking she'd come to see how everyone's food was, which she didn't. No apologies about my food and like I said, it was mediocre when I did finally get it. I didn't get anything comped or discounted even though I had to finish eating after everyone was done. She came to see how MY food was much later and then didn't even check if anyone else needed anything. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for her to come back, and THEN she decided to get the split checks in order, she had to come back about two times to get straight and that took about another 30 minutes. We seriously had to wait about an hour after our meal was done to just even pay. Poor service. Alright food, but not worth any of the headache. read more

The service was fast and friendly, prices were fair, the view was amazing, and the place was very clean. We will definitely be back! I hate to be a critic about this one. There is just a few things about the place that bugged me - may not bug everyone though. I have gone here twice in the last month. The first time was in the evening, the wind was absolutely terrible and they didn't have the window shields spread out across the entire deck so basically you had to hold everything on your table and make sure your hair was put up so you didn't eat it. They don't serve any glass bottles (it's the beach) - which makes sense, but when I asked for a corona dressed, I expected something else. They also have buckets on each table leading you to think that they would serve buckets of beer, but they don't, you have to buy each one individually. The service both times hasn't been great, the first time the girl didn't know anything about the menu but they were fairly new so I gave her a pass. The second time I went, the girl was as slow as molasses. Waited about 10 minutes for a strawberry margarita that ended up being mostly melted, asked for another shot for it because it didn't have much alcohol and ended up not even getting it because the drink was 3/4 of the way done before the waitress even walked back by. When it was time for the check the waitress was nowhere to be found and had to walk up to the bar to wait on her to come by. This was on a Saturday at 11 AM, so it wasn't like they were busy. The waitresses are all half dressed, some of their shorts barely cover what's necessary. Food is overpriced, but i've heard the oysters are pretty good. I can eat a full plate of food there, so the servings aren't very large and they average about $13 for a "basket". Oysters are more expensive. Anyway, I guess it highly depends on your preference. I wouldn't go thinking it's a sophisticated oyster bar and I wouldn't expect great service. If you can live with that while looking at the beach, have at it! read more

If zero stars were possible, that's what I'd give this place. My party showed up at 9 AM on a Saturday, and there was no one else present at the restaurant. Granted, there were 14 of us, but no one else there. The waitress took our drink order at 9:15. Drinks didn't show up until 9:30. (Again, the ONLY PARTY THERE.) She took our order for food a few minutes later... it didn't arrive until almost 10:55. Not only was the biscuits and gravy I ordered obviously pillsbury with a store bought gravy mix, the whole damn thing was stone cold. I get it. You want to serve everything your party orders at the same time. But when you have a 14-top, that's not a possibility! But, hey... let's put everything under a heat-lamp, and hope no one notices... I did, and so did my family. It's easy to say "oh, they're on beach-time" and dismiss the shitty service, but I can't choke that Shit down. The food sucked. The service sucked. Giant chairs aside, I'll never give these people my money again. Negative stars. Crap food. Crap service. Avoid at all costs. read more

There is no rating low enough to satisfy my distaste for my experience at this 'establishment'. From top to bottom, the entire staff was borderline incompetent and decidedly uncaring, save one great waitress (who received the only tip of the night), who was not responsible for us, but helped anyway. We ordered our food along with our drinks and appetizers in an attempt to save us from a long wait as it was a crowded night and we were hungry. We received half of our appetizers, (chips and queso) cold and received no further attention or help from our waitress for over an hour. We started asking about the food every fifteen minutes or so, at which we were repeatedly told that 'the kitchen was on it'. After we had waited an hour and forty five minuets, we began to request to speak with a manager, but no such luck. No one but these two goofy dudes, who had been drinking from the bar all night, came but offered zero help whatsoever. Several other tables around us were experiencing similar and in some cases, worse service than us. Many tables simply walked out at various points in the evening. When the food finally came, a 'manager' spoke and in a surprising move, accepted and recognized the terrible service that had been administered at the Beach Front Deck Bar & Grill. He apologized and offered a discount on the meal, as we had just hit hour two of waiting after the order. We ate quickly, as it was 10 pm, and requested the check, so we could finally get out of there. Bob Petty, the owner, presented us with our check, with the $30.00 discount (18.75%) but also decided to add that back in for gratuity, as if that were still even on the table. We curtly told Bob that we would not be accepting this check as it stood, and certainly would not be adding ANY gratuity. After some arguing and debating about just how long we had been there (with the owner, mind you), he finally begrudgingly accepted the kitchen ticket with time stamp proving that we had arrived when we said we had. We asked him to remove the gratuity and cut the bill in half, at which he eventually and rudely agreed to. He then sent his poor manager to deal with the signing of the check. Do not waste your time and money here. The staff and management does not care for their customers. read more

I thought this would be a nice place to eat after being at the beach, the view was great and it wasn't busy so it was enjoyable. Now as for the food, the menu had nothing on it, maybe one small list of actual meals. We get chips and salsa first, the chips were room temperature and very stale. We both got catfish baskets for 13$, which was not worth the money. The catfish was soggy, the hush puppies were tiny and hard, and there was barely any fries. Definitely won't be going here again. The view is amazing however the drinks are awful, watered down, taste was extremely off and the waitress we had didn't know what was in them so any question we had about them she had to run to the bar to ask, took about 35-40 min to get them. The food is decent but it took over an hour to get it, nothing special, especially not for the ridiculous price I mean $3 for a kids sprite, $10 for a chicken basket, that's just too much. First things first, for everyone complaining about no tap water and the price of a water bottle... this is the ocean front, there's not exactly any room for a water purification plant between the beach and the deck you drink that water on. You mean to tell me you drink the water from surfside beach tap? That explains it all... anyhow. We went for breakfast this morning, the service was a bit slow but the food was good. Decided to go back for dinner and the service was perfect and fast. The catfish basket was done right and the beer was cold. Some people don't understand, take a look around your environment. That nice deck, beach front property, and the other amenities aren't payed for by the magic mortgage fairy. And I assure u a $2 bottle of water ain't paying the bills either. And the owner walked down the the beach one night when we were out walking and introduced himself, also sat next to us with his family for breakfast.
