Seems like a neat place, we must have just come at the wrong time of year. Sunny outside, but air was chilly and a bit windy. Our greeting when we came in was not the most friendly, woman behind the bar didn't even smile and mumbled something that I assume was our greeting. Our server, though nice, seemed very new and inexperienced. But she seemed to be nervously trying to do a good jobl My drink order never was what I ordered. I think there was confusion with the server and woman behind the bar. Our server didn't seem old enough to serve it to me, it was broght over by bar tender. It was pricey for not ever really getting what I requested. The day we were there, they had one of the garage doors open and the front door as well. It was so cold in there, we almost left to go elsewhere as I suspected the food would be cold before it got to the table to be eaten. After our 2nd request, they finally closed the one garage door,, but was still a bit chilly. Then they told us they just put the heater on. (the heater helped but have entry door open to bring food in from food trailer) We didn't realize the food was made in an outside trailer and walked inside. I got the crawfish tail ? Ettofee baked potato ? Ettofee sp?. Although The potato was well baked, and the sauce was Very good, there was only 4 or 5 very small crawfish tails on it. I ended up taking it home with me as it just wouldn't stay warm enough for me to eat more of it. I wish they would of had some type of thermal box, or cover to bring the food in from the outside trailer to the table... My husband had a mushroom swiss burger which was good, and some really delicious flat shaped fries, but again, keeping our food warm enough to eat it was not the best situation. There were some really good looking things on the menu, but it was just too cold in there that day. During nice weather, I'm sure our experience would have been much better, as it seems like a really nice place with a very nice patio with great view. read more

Had a little staycation in Galveston for NYE. We took the south route home and wanted some lunch. Belly's popped up on the map and it had great reviews so we stopped in SO WORTH IT! Their patio and views were amazing and so relaxing. The cutest restaurant indoor/outdoor. We also had our dog which they accommodated with some water. She also made friends with the sweet manager Erin (i think! Hopefully we got it right). Food was good and vibes were better. Will definitely be stopping by next time we are going to or coming from Galveston. read more

Wow! Hidden gem here! The staff were super nice, the food came out fast, and the bathroom was FREEZING (in a good way). They had walking tacos for the kids, the loaded fries disappeared into our bellies, and the crawfish potato was insane! Like a pound of potato, cheese, green chilies, and crawfish. If you are able to, this is a must stop! I decided to detour to stop for some lunch on my way to Surfside Beach one Friday midday. When I'm heading to the beach, I crave some fresh gulf shrimp and discovered Belly's on the Brazos and this may have to be my new pre-beach stop! When I arrived, there was plenty of parking in the lot near the restaurant and already a decent crowd for the lunch rush considering it was around 11AM or so. I went to the bar to rest a bit and place my to go order. I was almost immediately enticed by the frozen cocktail machines at the bar, so decided to order the frozen sangria - it was flavorful with strong raspberry and lemon flavors. While looking at the menu, the staff and I started talking and we had so much fun! It was one of those experiences were you meet someone for the first time, but feel like you've known them for years - it felt like that with about 2-3 of the staff members! I stayed much longer than I planned because of how much fun we were having. When I let them know I wanted to eat my food on the beach, they packed extra napkins and wet wipes for me. Food is delicious... we ordered boudin balls cheese for appetizer with tartar sauce very tasty Shrimp Basket ( 8 big shrimp ) with coleslaw with 2 hush puppies with french fries - my friend and aunt loves it I ordered hot honey chicken -- its a sandwich with french fires ... i love the crisps of the chicken the flavor with honey -- delicious .... The restroom is clean ... only i did not like is the walls on the cubicles is very high its like when you sit on the toilet people can see you from outside.... Awesome place to hang out! I tried the boudin balls followed by a lobster roll and hamburger Rockefeller. The boudin balls are more of a delicious cheesy snack than a boudin ball. The gooey cheesy inside stole the show and a boudin purist would scoff, but these were an excellent appetizer. The lobster roll was a straightforward deliverance of buttery, creamy lobster on a salad-style bed packed into a Texas toast roll. Be sure to grab extra napkins before you embark on the journey! (A lobster roll that ain't messy ain't a lobster roll worth investing in!) Finally the hamburger Rockefeller is described on the menu as "IYKYK". I can break that down for you like this: WYKYK! We got there on a night when there was a party going on. It was loud. But, it was also FUN! The waitress seated us enough "out of the way so that we could actually converse over the Karaoke. The "vibe" was very good. The food though was AWESOME. Although the ambiance clearly said "Bar Food" the meal was exquisite. The staff was attentive (without being unnecessarily obsequious. The outside seating was good, had live music, and was on the river. Food came quick, had a happy hour. I will say the food was cooked in a food truck next to the restaurant. The staff was not dressed very professionally and you would have not known they were the staff or not. The salad was fantastic. My friend got the hot honey chicken and said it was okay, but very juicy and a little too much to eat and enjoy. My other friend got the fried shrimp and really enjoyed it, along with the fries she got. We also got the crab rangoon cheese stick appetizer which was good. Don't let the dirt parking lot fool you, this place is super nice and the view of the river is amazing! (Would be nice to have that parking lot updated or covered in some way though). We sat out on the patio with our pug and even though it was a hot day, under the shade of the trees and right next to one of the open doors, we were comfortable. We were only there for a quick bite and cocktails, but service was great! Ordered the Blueberry Paloma, the Mai Tai and a dozen oysters. That paloma was so refreshing and delicious! A must-try! The Mai Tai was decent enough, but could've used some dark rum to really make it better. Oysters were big and plump. Served with plenty of horse radish, lemon and cocktail sauce. If youre looking for a 5/5 ambience with friendly staff, this will hit. But the food is a 3/5 being underseasoned for me. Their exception is their french fries, they're thinly sliced and taste great. I was in the area teaching and one of the students mentioned this place. He said it belonged to his family, so at this point I am obligated to try it. I headed that way. You drive through a refinery and an Industrial area. I was sorta sketched out on the final turn, but at the end of the road there is a large parking lot and a nice looking restaurant right on the water. I was seated immediately outside in the deck. What a wonderful spot. The drinks were local, unique, and tasty. I ordered a chicken dinner which was grilled breast covered in mushrooms over a bed of some sort of Cajun type rice. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich with dill slaw, and my taste buds were doing back flips. Super delicious and finger-licking good messy. Be sure to ask for extra napkins! My husband ordered the Crawfish Étouffée stuffed Baked Potato-oh my! It was HUGE. We needed a to go cover for the plate to take part home, and my husband has no issue putting a whole baked potato away anytime. My son-in-law ordered the French Onion Burger and said it was very tasty. We all agreed the fresh cut on the Fries that came with the sandwiches and burgers was new spin on fries and definitely delicious. The manage came by and visited us, and we found her to be very friendly and accommodating. Service was anticipating and on spot for all our needs. The air in Freeport is not the best but it's worth a drive down here from Galveston to have belly seafood. We had the grouper with crispy fries and broccoli. It was enough to split. a sunny Sunday afternoon and you can't beat it. Hannah kept us well supplied., and then the live music by a first class cover singer started.
