Honestly, if you didn't just visit surfside beach and built up an appetite, there is zero reason to go here. However, that was exactly what I was here for and I enjoyed the experience as we sat at the outdoor bar deck and enjoyed a meal, some beers, and boats sailing by. The food was fine, typical American affair without any special twists or faults. We ordered large beers, and asked about them multiple times " they are being made right now so sorry for the wait" ok well she said that about 13 times.. we ended up getting our food before we even had a sip of a beer. It was not good service. Also the crawfish was NOT good at all. You could tell was old.. and any time we asked her for something she essentially never brought it to us. Iv been in the industry my whole life, so I get it. But this was unacceptable. I think next time we come to town we're going to skip pier 30 because of this. Went for lunch with 3 coworkers. We ordered burgers. After an hour and a half of waiting for our burgers the food arrived cold and undercooked. Iced tea was soured and the Coke was flat. The ketchup in the table was soured as well. When we asked the server for fresh ketchup she literally took the bottle off of it table and placed it on the next table and gave us the bottle from the other table. Avoid this place. Didn't have a good experience last time, but gave them another chance a few weeks ago. The food was just average. A person in our party ordered a bowl of gumbo and was given a portion the size of a tea cup. I said we asked for a bowl and she insisted that was a bowl and if we were unhappy to take it up with the manager. Every time we go to Surfside, we drive by this place so saved their Facebook page for future visits. It's like an icehouse on a pier. Went in on Wednesday because of their advertised steak night and margarita specials. Walked in, not busy, did not see a hostess stand. Plenty of waitresses walking around and not one said hello. Stopped one and asked if we could sit anywhere. We sat ourselves outside. After a little wait, a young lady brought us a menu and finally our waitress came by to take our order. I ordered a blueberry margarita with salt. It came with no salt. Went to bar and got some salt from very nice, curly haired bartender. We ordered our steak dinners, learned that it came ribeyes, baked potatoes, broccoli, side salad and peach or blackberry cobblers for $19.99, also opted for the Surf & Turf, 6 shrimp for $6. We also decided on one peach and one blackberry cobbler. Asked for our salads ahead of meal and had to ask again. The food came and looked great. Were told at that time that there were out of peach cobbler. Cut into steak, I had ordered a medium cooked steak and it was more of a medium well. One of the 6 shrimp was not right, a little too mushy, had to spit it out and the broccoli seemed a little cold. Also had the watermelon margarita. Both margaritas were good, could had used a little more tequila but were still good. Our waitress was very sweet, brought our ticket out before we asked for it but after we had asked for to go boxes, so maybe she thought we were ready to go. Had to ask for our cobblers at that time. Waitress brought them to go. Lol Might give it another try since overall food was good and rest of the items on described on menu sound delicious. I was taking my real estate clients to lunch. They found the ad on the restaurants website offering crawfish for 4.99 a lbs. I agreed to it. Very happy. I had a gut feeling just before and called the restaurant but the employees told me I was wrong. They did not have a website. I left my name& number asking for management to call back but nothing happened. A few minutes the owner remove the ad that the employees said did not exist. A return call would have at least showed they wanted my business. Took my clients to Seahorse instead. This was the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. We were in town for a short trip so we stopped here on a Wednesday night. It wasn't busy at all, but we were here for over two hours. We had a party of 10 which is a lot, but it shouldn't be difficult on a Wednesday night. They had $3 margaritas on Wednesday so I had a wild berry one. It was pretty good. The blood orange one was good too. We ordered some appetizers and they came out fine. The calamari was alright. I've definitely had much better, but it wasn't bad. All the problems came when they delivered our meals. It took about 45 minutes to actually get the food, and once we did, we were missing a ton of things. Two people didn't even get their food. We assumed they forgot to grab it, but they never even made it. 30 minutes later, they came back saying that they were out of oysters. My friend said that shrimp was fine so then we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make the shrimp. By this time, everyone had finished their food for the most part. Once they brought the two missing meals, one of them found a hair in it. It wasn't worth the trouble to attempt to get new food. During the entire two hours, we were only checked on when they brought us food. Everyone needed refills on drinks and they only brought about 5 sets of silverware so everyone needed napkins, but we never had a chance to tell them. The one thing I really liked here was the sweet potato fries. They had sugar on the outside and were delicious. The shrimp with my meal was super plain and not crispy at all. One of the worst parts about it was that my friend threw her meal up in the bathroom before we even left. She got the chicken tenders and wasn't feeling good right after she started eating them. She wasn't drinking either so there must have been something wrong with the chicken. She threw up several times after we left the restaurant too. The bill situation was really confusing. Some things just "disappeared" from the bill, but it wasn't even the things we had problems with. One of the people that had to wait two hours for the food still had to pay for it, but another couple didn't have to pay for anything. The calamari wasn't on my bill either. It was really unorganized and the waitress had no clue what was going on. She only had 4 bills and was basically just handing them out to whoever would take one. I ordered one pound of snow crab, which was 2 clusters. They were good size and peeled easily. The Greek salad was big enough for two and the dressing was good. Hands down some of the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. We arrived at 4:30 and sat outside. After 30 minutes, we still haven't seen a waitress and we asked a waitress walking by for help. She quickly told us that we weren't her table and moved on. Finally, my husband had to walk into the restaurant and flag down a waitress to serve us. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (chips and salsa) and waited another 20 minutes. When she finally arrived with the drinks, the waitress dropped her tray all over my 2 year olds chair and never offered to bring a towel to clean it up. It took another 10 minutes to get replacement drinks and she brought them without ice. We asked her 3 more times for a cup of ice before it finally arrived. After we got our drink, we waited and waited for food. At this point, we had been at the restaurant 1.5 hours and only received our drinks and chips and salsa. At this point, 2 tables that arrived after us had already gotten their food and finished eating it. I finally had to walk into the restaurant and ask the waitress about our food and she told me the kitchen hadn't even started to make it yet! Finally, we just asked for her to box the food to go and bring it out because my 2 year old and 1 year old were no longer able to sit in the restaurant and were getting antsy. By the time we finally got to our and got to our car, we had been there 2 hours! We drive the hour home and at this point are starving. We open up our food and once again were disappointed. My husband ordered fish and shrimp and paid $2 extra for onion rings. He received 6 total onion rings for $2! I ordered the fried fish basket with extra tarter sauce. We hit up several places for lunch and dinner during our Spring Break week in Surfside and every day we somehow ended up here. Our first stop in was with kids during dinner and we got the last 5lbs of crawfish. Man we're they good. A tad spicy, so the kids tapped out. Next time we will order mild. My youngest got burger and fries off the kids menu. It was good and I still can't believe the $2.50 price. Talk about a win! Another favorite at the table was the fried mushrooms. This place was slam packed for a Sunday and the servers were overloaded. Kim the manager on duty jumped in as our server. Talk about team work. She was great! The kids got to mingle with several locals that brought their dogs, which kept them busy as we waited for the food to come. Our second trip in was just the hubby and I. And man the drinks were strong. I had the Kraken Rita at $7 and by the third one I was sideways. Not very often you get a good buzz for $20. Our bartender that night was Casey and she was great. Good conversation and food recommendations. We had a dozen oysters, boiled shrimp, mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms. Needless to say we were late night drunk eating. Our third trip in was another late night at the bar for more Kraken Rita's with bartenders Brandy and Gwen. Let me tell you these girls were a hoot. My husband and I like to play the name game with the help of the bartenders and try to guess the name, occupation and such of the other patrons at the bar. We were having so much fun two other couples at the bar joined in. Again food and drinks were top notch. I wish I Brandy and Gwen worked the local spot back home, they were awesome. Our final trip in last night for dinner was after another local spot was so bad we walked out after the first bite and immediately headed back to Pier 30. This time Christine was our server, we tried calamari, more boiled shrimp and hot wings. Both were delish! I also tried another Brazilian something drink that was good, but then went back to the Kraken Rita. If you are in the Surfside area don't waste your time anywhere else. The. Worst. The oysters were so bad. The service was terrible. My ranch water was tequila and tonic instead of typical ranch water. I asked for lime to go with and it took 15 minutes. We got the oysters. They came without crackers or horseradish. Took 15 minutes to get what we asked for. Took one bite and they were OFF! The definition of a dive, but I was impressed with the food. The cholo burger was a good blend of meat and the oyster shooters were really well done. Probably the best way I have ever been served oysters. In a shot glass layered with the sauce and horseradish, genius! Service wasn't bad, we waited for a while to see a waitress, but our eventual server was friendly and enthusiastic. She wasn't very professional, and didn't know anything about the beer or drinks, but she was willing to get us what we wanted. Quite a beer selection for a hole in the wall in Surfside. I tried the Heineken on their Brewlock system, however I was disappointed. Didn't taste very fresh, oh well. The facilities were awful and really need some work. They said they couldn't refund until the next day because they didn't know how. We had paid over $60 and they told us try to get our money back tomorrow.
