With that said, Sanibel Siesta on the Beach is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay if you're visiting Captiva Island. The staff is great, and the condos and grounds are excellently taken care of. They have recently rebuilt and renovated some parts after the storm causing some damage. I would come back when I'm back in Florida, and stay here for a 3rd time if I can! I'm so sad the Starfish Grill closed down, that was such a good place to dine at, on site!

On the second day, we were informed that the elevator was broken and they didn't know when it would be fixed, which is an ADA violation. Then they told us it was fixed and safe to use, only to then reveal (after we and others had been using it) that it wasn't actually fixed and could "stop at any time". Our rooms were on the third floor and they didn't not offer us a room on the first floor until we brought up the fact that it is incredibly dangerous for me to be using stairs (and also an ADA violation), and when they did, it was only for me so I was separated from my family which is dangerous if I fell. My family had to help me down 3 flights of stairs, which was incredibly stressful. We received no empathy from staff. It is illegal to not provide safe exit routes for ALL tenants. The fact that we had to tell them that in order for them to begrudgingly offer us a room on the first floor is ridiculous and disappointing. The incompetent support team was very dismissive and disrespectful to my granddaughter. They even suggested that she sign a waiver saying that SHE would be personally responsible if anyone was trapped or injured in the elevator. That would not hold up in any court and is an absolutely despicable thing to suggest. They acted like I was an inconvenience. It put a huge damper on what should have been a lovely family vacation. Aside from the very illegal waiver they asked us to sign, undignified disrespect and general incompetence (their customer service is outsourced and does not communicate with hotel staff), they locked us out of our rooms before check-out time and didn't offer any kind of compensation for their carelessness. They also gave us a whole list of chores to complete before leaving which wasn't explained to us upon arrival. Their site should be more transparent about them expecting tenants to perform their own housekeeping. If you are elderly, disabled, or simply want to be treated kindly, please avoid this place. 0/100

The condos are fully furnished and equipped with all your needs. They even had beach chairs, beach towels and coolers available. The bathrooms were a bit grungy and outdated. But overall the condos are kept pretty clean. We had unit 3D3 and it was super spacious. Parking was right out front. There are several local markets in the area to stock up on food,albeit a bit pricey. I recommend you stop at publix before entering island. If ever in Sanibel again, I will definitely book my stay here.

The pools have plenty of staff taking drink orders and delivering hot food; I love being pampered. The staff at the edge of the beach are ready to set up lounge chairs and an umbrella and they even set up a flag that you raise if you needs a frozen cocktail or something to snack on. The staff at the valet station and the front desk were excellent. My only complaint is that my trip had to end and I can't wait until my return trip.

Tried to stay healthy the next day and SO glad I ordered the Acai Bowl - one of the best ever! Walked the stunning beach. Enjoyed relaxing poolside and even went to the fitness center both days! Plus, they have a fun in house restaurant and bar as well. The lobby area leads right into the bar area and they also have a little souvenir shop/snack shop as well. The rooms are spacious and the air conditioning works like a champ (not my experience at every hotel in Southwest Florida). My king room had a comfy chair, desk, kitchenette with dinette, and bathroom with plenty of counter space for all my toiletries. The overall feel of the hotel had much more character than similarly priced chain hotels. The service was wonderful for the majority of my stay. On my final morning, they wouldn't let my delivery driver up with my food (they called my room but my phone wasn't working right--and I didn't expect that since every other morning they had let up my delivery with no call or fuss). When I called down to see if someone from the hotel could deliver it as I wasn't yet dressed, they said no they didn't have the staff (fair). But, beyond that inconvenient blip--the rest of the trip was lovely. Get to it!

I needed a night away to decompress and wanted to do some serious shelling. Shortly after booking a…read moreroom thru some online discount website, thinking I had just got a decent rate on a hotel, a nice woman with West Wind called me and informed me that I had been grossly over charged. They could have easily just pocketed the money, but they didn't. It was a pain canceling and rebooking directly with them, but they did their best to help me and even called to update me of the process along the way, reassuring me that no matter what, they were holding my room. So the hotel is an older one, but still nice. Everything seemed clean, but I did bring Clorox wipes to wipe down high touch surfaces, mostly to help me feel more comfortable with choosing to "vacation" during Covid. Staff all wore masks, but reassured guests wearing masks that they didn't need to. We still wore ours when encountering others in close proximity. I was honestly shocked with how people crammed into the pool, bar, and restaurant...not a mask to be seen. We chose to only go swim and I grabbed a drink from the bar when it was empty. Social distancing is definitely not enforced so we just chose to do what we feel best to protect ourselves. Our room was simple, yet pleasant. The view from our screened in patio was amazing and what I enjoyed most. The bathroom is tiny, but nice with a spacious shower taking up half the space. The small fridge had to be turned up and took some time to be cold enough to hold the food and drinks we had brought in our cooler. The wall unit AC did a decent job keeping our room cool but is a tad noisy, especially when out on your balcony. It also kicks up some heat on the balcony, so we just turned it off when we wanted to enjoy a little time out there. The beds were comfy, as were the pillows, and I appreciated the extra blankets that were placed in the closet, along with extra pillows. I was pretty annoyed that there were no outlets around either bed to plug in phones and devices. Staff was all super friendly and accommodating. I checked out over the phone to help minimize personal contact, and 24 hours later, I still have not received the emailed receipt they promised. According to my account statement, I still have not been refunded the extra amount that I paid for the room. So I may have to call soon and get someone to settle that. I will definitely stay here again, but next time I will directly book thru them. Sanibel has amazing shelling opportunities, and that's what I was really after. It was so nice to wake and walk right out onto the beach. West Wind seemed to be the last in a string of many rental properties, hotels, and a decent way away from any public beach access. So there were not many people on the beach, especially if you walked north.

As returning guests who stay at this hotel at least four times a year as a couple, this visit was unfortunately disappointing. We had three rooms, and each one had very flat pillows that offered little support. The beds were also much less comfortable than we remembered from previous stays. In addition, both the sink faucet and shower appeared to have water-saving aerators that significantly reduced the water flow, making showers less enjoyable. Because we were traveling with family and it was only a short stay, we chose not to request room changes, as moving everyone would have been too much of a hassle. We're not sure what changed since our previous visits, but we hope these issues are addressed because we've always enjoyed staying here. On a positive note, Adrian at the front desk was very helpful in providing extra towels and other necessities whenever we needed them. Laura in the breakfast area did an excellent job keeping the breakfast items well stocked and the area running smoothly. We hope our next stay reflects the level of comfort and service we've come to expect from this hotel.
