BeachSports was a no show!! They scheduled a skateboard camp, a ton of kids showed up, and BeachSports didn't! A lot of very sad kids and frustrated parents. Nobody from BeachSports, no coaches, nobody picking up the phone at every phone number that I tried for Manhattan, Hermosa, or Redondo. No way to actually get a hold of them if you need to. My girls are so thrilled to be back at BeachSports again this summer for surf camp. They do a great job at making drop off and pick up quick and easy. My kids have both grown a love for surfing through their camps and they absolutely love their camp counselors. My son, 7, loves Skateboard camp at the Octogon in Redondo Beach. We do it once a week in the summer, and then during Thanksgiving, winter or spring break. This was our second summer doing Beach Camp in Redondo. He had a great time and really bonded with all the kids in the group, regardless of age differences. We will for sure do it again next year! The staff at both places-and in the offfice- has ALWAYS been kind, helpful and they are all truly "kid people" - it never feels to me, as a parent, that they are doing this because it's a "job." We have been to 8 skateboard camp sessions and 2 weeks of surf camp sessions and Aiden has so much fun every single time. The ratio of counselors to kids is spot on and safety seems to take priority and we have not had an injury. Chris and the other skateboard counselors are fantastic and so good with the kids. Coco the surf coach really built Aiden's confidence and skill. Thanks for such a fun and active camp option! 9/13/19 - just finished another summer at Beach Sports! Aiden and his friends love the opportunity to have so much fun at the beach - good balance of activities at the surf camp with attention to safety. Aiden seems to love the group paddle outs and his confidence grows. I would love to see the extended camp until 6 as pick up by 5 is a logistical nightmare and keeps up from enjoying Beach Sports for the whole summer. read more

This is our 3rd year with PCH Skate and beach sports. I highly recommend their skate camp!! My son has improved his riding skills tremendously. The quality of coaches and level of fun keeps him fully engaged for the entire 5 hour session. The camps director, Cam Skelton, is a true asset to the program. Not only is he one hell of a skater he is personable, attentive, and connects easily with the kids all the while remaining organized. He is always available and willing to listen which is crucial to a parent. No doubt we will return soon. read more

Due to Covid, my husband and I didn't permit our kids to attend any in-person camps last summer. I was hesitant to send them to camp this summer, but when my daughter expressed interest in going, I agreed that I would find something outdoors, safe, and close to home. A Google search lead me to Beach Sports beach volleyball camp. I snagged the last open spot for the week she wanted to attend. My daughter was nervous her first day. She didn't want to get out of the car, but when I picked her up she raved about the great time she had. The counselors were great and attentive. Her sand shoes came off her feet in the water and began to float away. One of the counselors took note and quickly retrieved them! Her fellow campers were great as well. She looks forward to returning next year. I only wish I had searched for it sooner. read more

What an amazing staff the Redondo Beach Camp has. Jen has really brought in some amazing Staff and counselors to be true Role models for both the Girls and Boys of all ages. We have two boys in BeachSports. Our older 9-year-old is in his third (or fourth?) year of camp. He started with Beach camp and then last summer he started alternating each week between Beach and Surf. Our younger 6-year-old is in his second year of BeachSports and enjoys Beach camp. We LOVE this camp! The staff is always helpful and responsive and we've found the counselors to be very attentive on an individual basis. Our younger one is not as independent as our older one and we'd get frequent check-in phone calls from his counselor to let us know how things were going, which was a nice touch. With the Covid pandemic now upon us with a lot of strict rules, we have been very pleased with BeachSports and their plan to both open the camps and keep our kids safe. So. Much. Fun! We sent our 6 year old to BeachSports "beach camp" Manhattan Beach for 2 weeks this summer. She absolutely loved it. The "coaches" were terrific, very friendly and sweet to our daughter. They seemed organized and keep the kids safe in/out of the water. Our daughter was exhausted and happy every day. We will definitely sign up for their surf camp and volleyball camp next summer when our daughter is a little older. Love the flexibility they offer as well... you can sign up & pay ahead of time and then pick your days/weeks later as needed. This camp also offers an after care option until 5pm, which was a deal-maker for us as we are working parents. Highly recommend! read more

This company is simply AWESOME! I set up a private skateboarding pod at a local park w my kiddo and his 3 buddies. The boys are having the most amazing time! Not only are so they happy to SEE each other as we come out of the pandemic; they having found a great friend in Coach Cameron! He's wonderfully encouraging to all skill levels, patient and an all around great human. The only downside, according to the kids, is waiting a week for the next class. For us grown ups, it's really nice to have scheduled outdoor time to chat and watch. Beach Sports is following all CoVid protocols and STILL bringing all the fun and skills! I walk the Esplanade in Resondo bch and have seen this group between ave G and ave E for wks. I can't believe that no parents haven't watched what they do on the bch with their kids??? The groups on the bch for kids, not this group seem very Professional in their uniform and actions. but there are a couple of young women with Beachsports that wear the THONG BIKINIS that leave alot to be desired!!!!! For a mother and grandmother I would never want my children in that kind of atmosphere! They even stand in front of these children while the children are sittinng down behind them. They also play games with them and alow the children to see them up close? They also never wear a teashirt like the other coaches to at least be covered?? They oviously know they are being watched, because on the sidewalk above there are men at times taking pictures or using Binoculars? These women even keep turning around and looking up? I just don't understand why this company doesn't ever check what their groups are doing or not doing??? I even have pictures if the company is interested. read more

We did Beach Sports and Beach Sport's Surf Camp this Summer for our two daughters. This camp was the favorite of all the camps they did this Summer! The instructors were fantastic! Quick to learn the kids names and filled the days with lots of games and activities. My 7 year old was standing up on a surf board her very first day! My daughter had a FANTASTIC experience at PCH Skate Winter Camp! The coaches were super friendly, encouraging, and helpful. They had so much ENERGY for FIRST time skater! They kept my daughter motivated. They encouraged skaters to not give up on the skill and to keep practicing. She gained confidence in a new sport that she had never tried. I send my 4 kids here every summer. We get our 10 day passes (x4) and use it throughout the summer. We've been to Manhattan beach and Redondo beach location for beach and surf camps. Drop off and pick up cannot get any easier than this. I can schedule it ahead of time to secure a spot to ease my mind, or just drop them off too. I end up adding more days to the camp days because my kids just love going there. The staffs are always smiling, respectful, safety first and want the kids to have fun. Sometimes I run on the strand and I see them playing or gathered together for lunch. It's a very fun, safe and cute scene. My young kids 5 and 6 years old are not afraid of the water waves, how to stay safe and think sunscreen is a cool thing. They enjoy all the beach games and loves boogie boarding. My older kids 9 and 11 years old loves surfing and enjoys catching the waves. The camp provides the surf boards so you don't need to buy and carry the surf boards. My younger kids take their boogie boards to use during water play because they want to. And they give each camper rash guards to identify which camp they are in. It's very organized and they are all very happy people to interact with. And their response to email or phone question is very quick. They treat all customers with top priority. My son absolutely loves the skate camp and after they go play at the beach for the second part. They also have early drop off options and all day options which make it great for parents who work! 2011 was my son's second year at Beach Sports in Manhattan Beach (15th St.). He loved it so much the first time he wanted to just go there and forget about other camps. He did the surf camp for a few weeks and then switched to the much cheaper Junior Guard program. Although it was not as intense as the LA Co program, it still got him moving and enthusiastic about working out. I loved that most of the counselors are "older" and teachers from some of the local private school. Of course they also had some nice Costa kids as counselors. He loved the trip to San Onofre, a trip which had me concerned. But when he told me how the counselors where hovering like helicopters and made them stay together away from all the SO locals, I was so happy that I let him go! Also, we had friends visit from the East Coast and their 9 yr old daughter took a semi private lesson with our son and it was the highlight of her trip. (forget Disneyland!) We did try another surf camp that met at El Porto in 2010, but one of the 15 yr old "counselors in training" hit my son with a shovel to get him out of the way. I can't say enough good about this camp. It has made my son even more eager for summer! read more

My two boys aged 4 years and 7 years LOVED Beach Sports Summer Camp this year! They begged to go week after week and came home happy, tired and sandy. This camp is great! I really can't say enough about it. It's so well organized and lots of the instructors are teachers during the year so they really know how to handle the kids, and there are so many instructors I feel safe with my kids going in the water. My kids are 5 and 7 and they have had so much fun! They go 3 days a week and both told me they want to go 5 days. The best part for me is i don't have to deal with parking. You drive down this line and the instructors help get your kids out of the car and then put them back in at pick up, it's pretty amazing! I would recommend this camp to anyone that wants there kids to be able to enjoy our beautiful beach all summer while knowing they are safe. read more

BEWARE!!!Please don't send your children here. I made the mistake of sending my five year old...I decided to spend the first day observing from afar; right away I could see there would be problems. For starters they are understaffed, and all of the kids working there are literally just that--kids. They ranged from age 15-21. The camp is totally unstructured, so the kids end up getting bored, wondering around, and getting into trouble. The ages are all clumped together and my son ended up getting bullied by a 13 year old who body slammed him four times before sitting on him and smashing his head into the sand. I saw if this happening well before the camp counselor and ran (literally) to his aid and promptly pulled him out of the camp. The counselor just looked at me helplessly as I packed his things. I called their corporate offices to report the incident, and my disappoinent in the fact that they are holding unstructured camps by teenagers which result in all-around chaos (not to mention young campers could easily drown since the ratio was over twenty to three) but of course they never returned my call. I cannot believe this company is still in business. At some point, someone will get hurt (or worse) at this camp as they are totally irresponsible and should not be allowed near other people's children. read more

We love Beach Sports. This is my sons favorite camp of the summer! The only disappointment from him was that we weren't in town for him to enjoy more days of this camp. He said all of the coaches were amazing and the highlights for him were: water time with the coaches, "berrier ball", dodgeball, "happy happy fun ball", Friday pizza day, making new friends and cooking contest on Friday. He loved the rash guard and skull candy backpack he received on the first day of camp. We will definitely do this again with all of our friends next year. read more

DO NOT go to this Surf Camp, Go to PERFECT DAY SURF, you wont regret it, but you will regret going to BEACHSPORTS ORG, it was horrible, My kids only played in the sand and boogie board all day, instructors surfed all day by them selves, they tell you not to come to the beach because they don't want you to see they don't have enough surf boards per kid and see your kids playing volleyball instead of surfing. read more
