A slightly demon-possessed goat (not really, she was playing me)
    Megan L.

This was a cute little place. Expensive, perhaps, but they are "suggested donations", so you could get away with less than the stated price if your budget is tight. Our kids loved the goat stampede in the morning, loved petting the goats, especially the baby (which was, admittedly, adorable), and one kid was fascinated by the peacocks. Those suckers are LOUD. Aside from the goats and two miniature donkeys, no other animal was interested in being petted when we were there. It was a nice little visit all the same.

I want to go here every time I go to Victoria now. This place is amazing.. There are ducks, pigs, chickens, alpacas, mini donkeys, guinea pigs, birds, doves, goats, and I may be missing more. Every little exhibit is so cute, but I love the petting zoo!!!! There are so many goats to choose from and they also provide brushes so you can brush the goats too. I could stay here and pet goats for hours.. very therapeutic lol. We also came for the 5:10pm (when they close) goat stampede and it was one of the cutest things ever lol. Staff were really great at poo duty in the petting zoo. Didn't know goats poo little pellets. Great and cheap activity to do at Beacon Hill Park!

Disclaimer: did not enter the farm and did not pay their "suggested donation" prices. viewed for free from outside. We spent 40-50 minutes of our time watching the chickens pecking around, the peacocks cawing and fighting with each other, and the people petting the goats. You can literally see everything in the farm from outside it's gates. If you are lucky, we even saw some chickens and peacocks jump out of the gates. Did my child enjoy it? She was dissapointed she could not pet the cute goats, but otherwise she had fun. Is it worth the 20-30 minute walk from the cruise port? If you have 3yo-10yo children in tow, yes. The farm is located in Beacon hills which has plenty of sights to see and do, including a playground and clean public restrooms. It's a well decorated hill. We didn't feel like we missed out on buschart garden at all. Note: We took the residential route vs the scenic route to have wind cover. Might be a shorter walk if you take scenic route.

Probably the best family friendly activity for young toddlers that Victoria has to offer. Entrance is just by any voluntary donation amount you choose. They also give a peacock feather upon entry which amused my toddler for quite some time. There are a variety of farm animals to see ranging from chickens, donkeys, alpacas, pigs, goats, ducks and more. The best activity is a large petting/brushing area for the goats. They're pretty docile and calm so little ones can interact easily with them. The farm also has convenient hand wash stations too. Overall it was donation money well spent for a fun experience and I highly recommend this for families.

I just loved going here!! I was super surprised to find out there's a free petting zoo in Beacon Hill Park! They do ask for donations if possible but it is free to go in. There are pot belly pigs, donkeys, chickens (23 hens and one handsome rooster), ducks, alpacas, birds, bunnies, and many more! The most popular attraction is the goat petting zoo! There's a ton of Pygmy goats from young kids to expecting mothers! You can pet and brush them. They're all super nice but still need to be careful when petting them! The petting zoo is pretty clean as the staff is constantly cleaning up after the goats.

If you're visiting Victoria, this is a great place to stop by on a sunny afternoon. There is no admission fee for this petting farm and is by donation only. In this farm, you'll find lots of animals like alpacas, pigs, peacocks, goats, and more! There's a fenced area where you can pet, brush, and play with goats. They also have lots of baby goats. It was so much fun goofing around with the animals and I'd recommend this to any animal lovers out there. p.s. The animals get REALLY friendly sometimes; they are not afraid of humans at all. One even jumped on my girlfriend's back, hung out there for several minutes, and started biting her hair + sunglasses! (see photo)

While in Victoria we visited Beacon Hill Children's Farm located in the beautiful and rather large Beacon Hill Park. This visit was a highlight of our trip and definitely one of the most fun experiences we had in Victoria. Admission is free with suggested donation. Guests may take a self guided tour through the farm and are able to enter an enclosed petting area with bunnies, goats, etc . There are plenty of wash stations for dirty hands. We arrived just before closing and most of the animals were already put away, missed seeing the chickens :(. We did see pigs, sheep, goats, peacocks roaming freely, llamas, but our favorite animals were the Jacob's Sheep...hilarious animals! They communicate with one another in a repetitive fashion and we found them quite humorous to watch. Fun Fact: Goat races take place when they open and close the farm. The goats race from one side of the farm to the other to get their food and they allow guests to line up and video the one minute race. Parking is just outside the Children's Farm inside of the park, but we biked there.

    Too young!

If you go to Beacon Hill Park you have to stop here, kid or not. Husbo and I LOVED it and we didn't even pet a thing. Photographer's dream! The piglets were soooo tiny and funny! I wanted to pop one in my pocket and take it home. There were goats and kids, llamas, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits and a huge flock of loud, obnoxious, beautiful peacocks. We heard the peacocks when in the park and couldn't figure out what the sound was. Thought it was a cat that had killed something and brought it home to mommy and was screaming about it into a megaphone. Crazy! They were everywhere in the farm. In the trees above, on the fence by your elbow, trying to nest in the llama's hay. They were definitely the stars of the farm!

such a cute place!! they are so kind and fun, and have a ton of cute animals. their goats are the best! so friendly and fun to pet and play with

Soooooo cuuuuuuute! We were lucky enough to get to the Farm at about 10am, which apparently is just in time to line up and see "The running of the goats." What is that, you say? Well, all the goats at this zoo/petting farm start off in one area of the farm, and then at the designated time, the gates are opened and they literally run to the other area of the farm where they will be all day for the public to see/pet them. So, visitors line the "running path" that the goats follow, and clap their hands and "navigate" the herd to their final destination. Trust me, it's soooo cuuute! And as luck would have, there was one little kid/goat who decided to be a free spirit and break from the pack (his name was Spice, which was emblazoned on his collar) right where I was, so I ended up trying to catch him and usher him into the pen with his brethren. He was a stubborn little guy, and was running all over the place, but once I had some help from fellow path-liners, we managed to wrangle the little guy. Anyway, if anyone from down here in the USofA gets a chance to wander around Victoria, and finds themselves in Beacon Hill Park, you MUST visit this little gem. Oh, and don't be cheap and NOT make a donation for entry; it's one of those 'free entry but we'd love a donation" places, so please be generous. Those cute little animals ain't gonna feed themselves!

This is an area within Beacon Hill Park that has a variety of interesting animals and an area where you can pet and interact with baby goats. The goats were adorable and friendly. They had brushes for people to brush them but I suspect they've been brushed plenty as some ran away when they saw the brush. They had a stone structure like steps and the goats would jump up on them. If a chid sat down on them, they would sometimes jump up next to them and snuggle. There is information about the animals posted next to their enclosure. There were cute bunnies, interesting looking chickens, Llamas, ponies, pigs and more. There is no specific charge but they have suggested donation amounts when you enter but it is worth giving a donation and kids will especially enjoy it.

Located less than an hour outside of downtown, it is home to 140 different animal species featured throughout its meandering 120 acres. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge and a visit typically takes 2-3 hours. While your little ones will probably enjoy roaming the grounds on foot, you can also rent a Safari Cycle or Critter Cruiser and unlike every zoo that I've ever visited, you are also welcome to use your bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, skateboard, or wagon while exploring their nearly 2 miles of paved walkways. These are some of the largest animal enclosures that I've ever seen at a zoo and they provide you closer access to the animals than you might expect. If you anticipate that your little ones will be WAY into this adventure, and ask you animal related questions above the standard parental pay grade, well then you're in luck because guided walking and mini-bus tours are available. In addition, if the herd you are traveling with is in need of a short break from all of these animal encounters you can enjoy the picnic area, playground, and restaurant. Expect that by the time you make your way to the exit you'll likely see smiling faces asking how long until you can return. And that's...Henry's Take. #greatervancouverzoo

I wish they had water fountains in the zoo because it is so big and there is only one water fountain by the entrance which makes it hard to come back all the time to fill it up. They did have porta potties around the zoo though. They also had a light bites and souvenirs at the entrance. Would probably visit again during a colder day so that I'm able to go around better. :)

A short drive from my boyfriend's Aunt's house we got here when it opened which gave us ample time to check out the zoo before we flew out that day. One of the wonderful characteristics of this zoo that we loved was how easy it was to walk through the different areas. We certainly used the maps, the directional posts, and checked out our surroundings when we felt like we might be a little lost but it is certainly a lovely walkable zoo. Each pathway takes you though different exhibits and areas. We happened to be here on a field trip day so there were a bunch of groups out and about and several mom groups it seemed like as well. Some of the bigger exhibits had Zoo docents or staff near by to answer questions and help us to get closer to see some of the beautiful animals. We happened to get lucky on this visit because we got to see the Tiger, which apparently, doesn't come out much and we got to see baby lion cubs too! It got pretty loud in the area to see the cub but luckily one of the zoo staff kept the area from being too rowdy. Another great thing about this zoo was how sustainable and eco-friendly it is. We stepped into the cafeteria/concession area and we saw that there were no plastic bottles in sight. All drinks were in a can, even water! Love that!! We managed to make it through the whole zoo and left feeling as though it was one of the most integrative and interactive zoos we had been too. We loved walking through the different aviary exhibits where you're enclosed in it and walking through different birds. The Over head tunnels for the Tree Kangaroo and the red panda nearby. It was fun to walk through and be surrounded by part of the animal's exhibit rather than the exhibit be just a square space. Before we left we stopped at the giftshop to get something I could remember this visit by and I settled on the orange red panda tee. Ended up being the exact same shirt my sister got herself from this zoo several years ago!! Definitely check this zoo out when you're in Seattle! It's a gem!
