    Super happy tourist!!!

This micro zoo was SO fun for me as a solo adult traveling in Victoria!! It came highly recommended by the tattoo artist I traveled here for from Michigan, US for the second time. She loves bugs and so I thought she was a little biased on the place but NOPE! The place is GREAT!!! I spent about an hour and a half in there watching the bugs, googling them, they have a cool audio tour but there were two guides speaking to the interested kids and so there was no need I could overhear plenty of crazy cool facts about the bugs! I have a new appreciation for these little creatures

WOW! Caylin was our bug specialist sharing non-stop knowledge of the ants, spiders and creatures they house. I like the more curious and secretive facts of knowledge that was shared. I remembered a lot of info. In fact, I left feeling like I always misunderstood tarantulas. Of course, I won't pick one up in the wild! This is more of a display of glass enclosures for the multiple creatures they take care of. Fun to try to find the creatures. I laugh when they are right in front of my face! The highlight was having a tarantula touch my hand. So sweet!

This is a small but cute zoo located in the city center of Victoria. There is plenty of street and garage parking nearby. The collection at this zoo is rather limited, but they do have some rather strange and cool bugs. Plan for about 30-60 minutes at this place.

We had a wonderful time at this venue. We were there on a Friday afternoon and it was not crowded, so we almost had a personal tour. Jaymie - our biologist - was amazing. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. They will actually let you hold many of the bugs, which is super cool. This was right in downtown Victoria, a close walk from the wharf. There are basically two rooms with aquariums filled with all kinds of interesting insects and a super large ant farm covering three walls. I honestly don't know if it would have been as enjoyable if there were more than eight or so people there. We had about a dozen when we first got there, but they trickled out until only four (adults) were left and we could ask questions and see everything and had Jaymie's undivided attention.

Very disappointing. Sad little spot with very few interesting insects hiding in dirty cases. Save your money!

Way overpriced, for a very small display. The front gift shop is as big as the display area for viewing.

Located less than an hour outside of downtown, it is home to 140 different animal species featured throughout its meandering 120 acres. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge and a visit typically takes 2-3 hours. While your little ones will probably enjoy roaming the grounds on foot, you can also rent a Safari Cycle or Critter Cruiser and unlike every zoo that I've ever visited, you are also welcome to use your bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, skateboard, or wagon while exploring their nearly 2 miles of paved walkways. These are some of the largest animal enclosures that I've ever seen at a zoo and they provide you closer access to the animals than you might expect. If you anticipate that your little ones will be WAY into this adventure, and ask you animal related questions above the standard parental pay grade, well then you're in luck because guided walking and mini-bus tours are available. In addition, if the herd you are traveling with is in need of a short break from all of these animal encounters you can enjoy the picnic area, playground, and restaurant. Expect that by the time you make your way to the exit you'll likely see smiling faces asking how long until you can return. And that's...Henry's Take. #greatervancouverzoo

The zoo also has a train that takes you around the entire zoo, however, it is very hard to spot animals while in the train. We paid $8/pp for the train. I would saying best way to spot the animals is walking. Since we went on a hot day, it got very tiring to walk the entire zoo and gave us half way. I wish they had water fountains in the zoo because it is so big and there is only one water fountain by the entrance which makes it hard to come back all the time to fill it up. They did have porta potties around the zoo though. They also had a light bites and souvenirs at the entrance. Would probably visit again during a colder day so that I'm able to go around better. :)

We didn't get lucky with everything--the lion was taking a nap and completely out of sight--but honestly, that's part of the experience. The kids still had a great time seeing the giraffes and exploring the other exhibits. What really made our visit stand out was a small moment that turned into something special. We stopped by the VR area near the carousel and met Catherine, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. She asked what we wanted to watch, and my daughter ended up chatting with her and mentioned her birthday was coming up. Out of nowhere, Catherine surprised us with a couple of carousel passes and a little birthday clip. It completely made my daughter's day--you could see how excited she was, and that kind of genuine kindness sticks with you. We come here pretty often during the summer since we're members, and experiences like this are exactly why we keep coming back. The staff really goes the extra mile. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to add more hand sanitizer stations, especially around the food areas and restrooms. It would just make things a bit more convenient for families. Overall, we love this place and appreciate the effort they put into both the animals and the guest experience. Looking forward to many more visits.

It's so neat to be able to touch animals that few people see, let alone pet. I have a picture of her as a small child, almost lying on top of a wallaby in the sun. So, when a friend from Seattle asked that I meet her halfway from my north end location, this was the outing I chose for the day. The tour wasn't as long as I remembered it being, and the marsupials weren't quite as snuggly. However, the variety was amazing. There were tiny baby lemurs on display, a mama wallaby with a baby in her pouch, burros, kissing alpacas, emus you could pet... it's a pretty unique experience. I only removed one star because I felt rushed through. In the past I don't recall feeling like I was being held to a tight time limit, and that was a little disappointing.
