I went here years ago and was given a long list of crowns and dental work that supposedly needed to be done. Looking back now, I'm really grateful I got a second opinion before moving forward. It's been about 6 years and a lot of the major work I was told I needed never actually became necessary. Rita Patel-Miller seemed friendly enough, but the experience felt more money first than patient-first. To be fair, it's been a long time since I've been there and I genuinely hope things have changed. But I do think this is one of those situations people should be aware. The staff and dentist were very kind and very professional but beware, I went in for a consultation for a night guard in July 2024 and came out needing $2400.00 worth of work. The dentist, Rita Patel-Miller, told me that I had two cavities, one of which would have required taking off my crown and replacing it. I got a second opinion and discovered that I had no cavities. Beacon Hill used my full dental benefits for a cleaning but did not clean my teeth. They took multiple unnecessary x-rays and tried to sell me a night guard that was very expensive and not necessary. I waited this long because I did not want to write a review while I was angry. I have all the paperwork to prove what they wanted to do and will be turning them into my dental insurance and contacting the Indiana Attorney General to file a complaint. This business is the reason why we all pay so much for insurance, many families are struggling financially and Beacon Hill will lie, drill holes in your perfectly good teeth and charge you for it. It is a shame they have no conscience or care for their patients....how many others, including children, have they done this to? read more

Since my insurance changed, I was fortunate to return to Drs. Patel/Miller, and was not hesitant to do so. From the friendly staff, to the great service, I was very satisfied with my decision to return. Very professional and always welcoming. Great overall experience. My dental hygienist, Julie, was very personable and knowledgeable. I also got to meet Dr. Patel, who explained the treatments she recommended and referred me to get. I never felt rushed and both Julie and Dr. Patel answered all my questions/addressed any concerns I had. They even played informative videos for me to better understand the treatments that were recommended. The office is very clean and neat. I went to this dentist for cleaning. They never did the cleaning did a lot of X-rays and told me that I needed thousand of dollars in dental work. I was there for at least 3 hours and I hate to go to the dentist. I was so frustrated when I left and was very disappointed. I went to another dentist that did what I needed and the cost was 1/4 of what Beacon quoted, I did not need all the work that they had said I needed. I was enormously pleased with my experience at Beacon Hill Dental. I had Julie as my hygienist. She is great with cleaning teeth, taught me some things I had never known about cleaning my teeth, explained my x-rays, had great communication skills, and watched to make sure she was not doing anything that would bother my allergies. Dr. Miller was very good. He went over my x-rays and showed me places they are going to watch. Also, he said he would make sure that any compounds he might use were okay for my allergies. Never had anyone pay attention to all of my allergies like this. Very impressed with everyone I encountered there. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

I couldn't find a dentist back in Chicago due to the COVID epidemic. I was thoroughly impressed with this place and their hospitality and overall attention to detail. I have sensitive teeth and anxiety going to the dentist and they put my mind at ease and explained everything they were doing and were very gentle. I'll actually be driving here from Chicago for future dentist appointments as they are so friendly and knowledgeable and seem to have a lot of advanced technology. read more

I have never recommended a dentist to anyone but this is the exception to the rule... I will be sending people to this location for sure. I really appreciate the extra measures that they take at Beacon Hill to help my children feel comfortable. My son has special needs and they go above and beyond to accommodate him with the use of a weighted blanket and added attention to his sensory needs. I spent the last 34 years going to my Mom is a dentist in Cincinnati, so I am pretty partial. I relocated to the area recently and went in for what felt like and turned out to be a cavity. First off I was BLOWN AWAY by the amount of super modern equipment they had. Beacon Hill made my Mom's office look dated (sorry Mom!). I had an excellent hygienist named Julie she breezed through all of the check up and cleaning, (plus they had this awesome thing they place in your cheek that catches all the drool and you can relax your jaw, so you don't have to sit there with your mouth cranked open and end up sore... (Whatever it was it, it is one of the reasons I will go back in a heartbeat!) Also, with all the technology in the office it took no time and was super easy plus I got to watch ESPN on a TV over my chair, which made the time fly. It turned out I had a cavity so Julie had to give me a numbing shot.... I am a total needle-phobic person so I was freaking out. However, Beacon Hill has these amazing needles that I'm pretty sure are laser cut and so precise I didn't feel a thing! I was super relieved. Next thing I know Dr. Paul came in and worked on my cavity. He was very nice and was always checking back on me to make sure I was comfortable. He filled my cavity I watched TV while he was doing it and I was on my way home in no time. I am super happy because I can go here on a regular basis going forward and don't have to take a special trip to get my cavities filled or my routine cleanings. Six months ago, my husband had a scheduling conflict with our family dentist so since he wasn't having any issues and only needed a cleaning he decided to try and schedule with another local dentist. After calling around, Beacon Hill was able to get him right in. After his cleaning, an assistant presented him with a series of pictures of his teeth an presented a proposal for nearly $8,000.00 to replace many of his old fillings. She attempted to collect his signature agreeing to have the work done. When he declined, the dentist came into the room. She stated that the old fillings were likely to present problems such as tooth loss from cracking and a variety of other possible issues. When he again declined she became indignant. Well he just had his six month check up and cleaning at our dentist we have gone to over the past thirty years and he was informed that although he has many large older fillings, they were in great shape and no maintenance was needed . First visit to Beacon Hill as a new patient. Found the practice through Blue Cross Blue Shield as both dentists are preferred providers for my coverage. I had the normal bi-annual cleaning and exam visit. Julie was my tech and she was great. Gentle, friendly and inviting throughout my appointment. Dr. Paul Miller conducted my exam. Friendly guy, great "bed side" manor; the type of guy you can have a laugh and a beer with. The facility is clean and everything is brand new. One of my favorite things to see is digital x-rays, no more uncomfortable film things that other practices use. I would highly recommend Beacon Hill. read more

We all know that family life is hectic and scheduling is difficult. The available hours with this dentist are very restrictive so from time to time we tried to squeeze in an appointment and it simply did not work with the family schedule. My family had been going to this dentist for over a year when they decided to stop taking our appointments because we missed a couple . I warn any families considering this dentist to find another based on the anti-family scheduling practices I experienced. I would imagine that the lack of empathy stems from the immature nature of the doctors practice and the lack of there own family experience. In addition, please beware that this office will try to get you to pay for procedures in advance if they think you can not pay your bills. BEWARE OF THIS DENTIST!!! BEWARE OF THE NEW PATIENT SPECIAL!!! 8 months I had lost my dental insurance moved to North West Indiana from South Bend and needed to get a new filling as the one I had fell out one month ago. I am over 50 years old, all my life took good care of my teeth with electric brush thoroughly, water pick& flosser after almost every meal plus routine check and clean twice a year. I looked on line and found this Beacon Hill Dentistry, Crown Point, Indiana advertised a "New Patient Special" plus good reviews. I called and made an appointment They spent almost an hour on the exam and x-rays and were very nice and professional. After the dentist came in and spent 2 minutes checking me and said he can fill my cavity on my upper tooth then suggested I buy a dental guard. I told him don't want to buy a dental guard. He immediately left Here is where I begin my complaint: The girl came in and told me I have 6 bottom teeth that require deep cleaning. I responded please just arrange regular cleaning (Note: my old dentist in south Bend never told me I required a deep cleaning in the last 4 years.) the response from the girl shocked me: her words::she would not do the regular cleaning covered by the advertised special unless I agreed to do the deep cleaning which most insurances rarely approve which I will talk more about later. She then took me out to the office for a quote. In the office the manager showed me the x ray and explained to me how important the deep cleaning was. I explained to her I don't have insurance and not much money and wanted to put off this deep cleaning and get a filling replaced as soon as possible. The manager then said she won't do filling and regular cleaning if I won't do deep cleaning. I ASKED HER IF THE DEEP CLEANING WAS NEEDED IN ORDER TO FILL MY FILLING . ( THE DEEP CLEANING WAS ON THE BOTTOM TEETH AND MY FILLING WAS ON THE UPPER TOOTH). SHE ADMITTED "NO" THE DEEP CLEANING WAS NOT REQUIRED TO FIX THE CAVITY AND PUT IN A NEW FILLING! AT THIS POINT I ASKED HER NICELY AGAIN SINCE THE DEEP CLEANING DOES NOT EFFECT THE MORE URGENT CAVITY AND FILLING, WHAT WON"T THEY PERFORM THIS URGENT NEED,WHY DO THEY PUT THE CAVITY FILLING UNDER A CERTAIN CONDITION OF NON REQUIRED DEEP CLEANING AND NOT PUT ASIDE THE DEEP CLEANING FOR ANOTHER TIME. THE MANAGER THEN TO COVER HER SELF SAID FINALLY SHE WOULD HAVE TO ASK THE DENTIST! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? I am Asian, Because I speak with a little broken English she thinks I am stupid? I lost trust to this dental office then decided if they do this or try to make me spend an huge amount of money on expensive procedure and ignore the more important procedure to get money!!! How many other patients have they done this to ? I would like to hear from other patients from this dentist as I and my husband are really outraged. I looked online and the prices for a deep cleaning is nothing more than a money maker and think they can push this on unsuspecting patients. I paid them for the x-ray,exam and left . I will hopefully get other patients to respond and take action as I believe this was wrong to do and unnecessary I am out almost 75.00 and got nothing for my 2 hours time spent at this dental rip off . read more

I've been so impressed by Beacon Hill! After a very unpleasant visit with one dentist after moving to the area I asked around for a new one. Beacon Hill was highly recommended and I understand why! My 3 year old had her first appointment there a few weeks ago and they were amazing with children. She was very afraid but left smiling and at ease. I was then seen a few weeks ago. I am not someone that enjoys the dentist, but I found everything as enjoyable as possible and the staff extremely friendly and professional. We're thrilled to have found the place! read more

I went to this facility because my wife and kids had already been before and liked them very much. The service was actually great. My only problem is that once I was seen and determined work to be done, they then sat down to discuss the payments and notified me not 5 minutes after getting out of the chair that my insurance was no longer being covered there and all work would be out of pocket. The difference of out of network and in network was several thousand dollars and when I told the young lady I could not do that she was not very nice about it and told me basically you get what you pay for. So out of all this I had to go to yet another dentist in network and start all over again and still had to pay them above my co-pay for a visit that did nothing for me. read more
