We went for a walk in Beacon today. Decided to check out the market. It caters to a more upscale clientele and the prices reflect it. It's no Balducci's of the north, if you are familiar with the store that was on 6th and 9th in the Village. But, it does carry a wide variety of hard to find products and specialty ingredients. There aren't too many grocery stores in the village of Beacon. It has become gentrified and touristy in the last several years. read more

I brought in something to return and the gal at the register said she could only give me my money back on a credit card. I had paid with a debit card. I said that doesn't make any sense. So she said well I'm not really supposed to, but this time I will give you cash. kind of lame I thought. On 6/21 purchased food from this store and the products were exposed to cat urine which has now made me sick. I spoke to the manager Katlyn who perceived my complaint as a threat and was rude and unapologetic or concerned. Do NOT buy produce from here. I bought two bunches of organic kale from Beacon Natural Market and noticed the leaves had all these white spots. I thought they were just dirt, so I spent so much time trying to clean them off. Today, when I rinsed the second bunch, I realized that the white stuff was actually live aphids (that were still moving) and their larvae! There were hundreds of them. I was completely grossed out and will never go back for veggies. Also, I sent my BF to pick up veggies there twice last week. He went several days apart, but he saw the same bunches of spoiled collard greens there. It's funny he could identify that they were the same bunches from how bad they looked. He also told me the beetroots were soft (spoiled). Not to mention the avocados are almost always mushy and bruised. read more

I had such a bad experience at this market today. The employees were a bit stand off ish and me being me I didn't see a problem because I wasn't looking for one. The older lady with the short gray hair got short with me when one of my sons rearranged some of the bottles on the shelf, didn't break or take just moved them around and she came over with an attitude about fixing them. I apologized and even tried to help put them back in a straight line which was all she had to do. She even went on to tell me to watch my kids. I let it go and went to the register and the guy with the glasses turned his nose up at me knowing I was ready to check out and didn't wait on me. Sees me with twins in my hands and didn't offer any help and just acted like he didn't see me so I move on to the next register and that attendant didn't even hand me my purchases and the way she handed me the receipt was so demeaning. How can you treat people like this in this day in Age. This was so traumatizing and I was helpless being just me with my twins. I refuse to support a business that treats their customers like shit. How dare you guys treat people this way. read more

It's a nice stop for a quick break. You can get a hot beverage and prepared food behind the deli counter. There is a small seating area by the front of the store. Good selection of herbal/organic candies and cold drinks. The gluten-free dry pasta selection is pretty good. The staff is polite, not overly friendly but that's cool they get their job done. The owner or manager is helpful; she goes over the ingredients of any supplements I'm looking for. Encounters with other shoppers have been odd nearly every time I'm there. One feels mentally shoved out of their way when one crosses their path. Maybe they are worried about their food allergies, dunno. read more

Gave this store another shot and sad to say, nothing has changed. WAKE UP BEACON NATURAL MARKET. Nature's Pantry is right up the road and they're AWESOME- better prices and helpful staff. To the disgruntled ex-Beacon Natural Market shoppers, just go up the road a few minutes to Fishkill and prepare to be amazed by Nature's Pantry's selection, staff, and size! I work in Beacon, so I tend to go here for lunch a lot. The sandwiches are alright, but quite small. And expensive! It's about $5.50 for a child's sized sandwich with cheese. They always take FOREVER behind the deli counter. Once I waited 15 minutes just for them to make a tofurkey sandwich. The groceries are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. $5 for a box of Annie's crackers? $4 for a single cookie? Uh, no thank you. Some of the staff is friendly, but most workers are aloof. It's an alright market if you're looking for some vegan or vegetarian options (they have a lot-the vegan egg rolls are amazing.) But I wouldn't recommend going here on a regular basis. read more

Pros - a very decent selection of everything. Staff is very friendly. Store is clean and neatly organized. We will be back since its a nice local place to shop for organic/whole foods. Very clean store, good selection. Like other health foods stores, a little pricy; in fact, my perception is that it is even pricier than other similar stores in the area. Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. I wouldn't have purchased anything that I couldn't wash before opening. IE... plastic milk containers, dish soap. I felt dirty buying fruits or veggies. The selection is small and dismal. The size of the store itself is small which doesn't bother me, but the dirtiness is too much. In NY this is illegal during a national emergency and they are attempting to get away with it. When people are really hurting they try and take advantage. She was rude and told me to wait until she had served 5 other customers to give me back my change she had forgotten to give me. We used to stop in to grab a few specialty items, but now Beacon Natural Market is our primary grocery. The selection is amazing, I am constantly discovering new and unique items. Local meats, cheeses and the best eggs are all delicious. Hard to find cuts like oxtails and short ribs (properly butchered) are stocked. Specialty items for every cuisine can be found on the shelves, and the prepared food section has everything you could have a craving for. Even the frozen breads (try the ciabatta) are quality. Of course, everything is natural, so you can trust what you are buying. Yes, it is more expensive than a big box store, but I prefer shopping local, especially when that means I get a hello and a smile. read more

I've been going to pick up cw hemp, Charlottes web, cb oil for humans as well as Paws for my dogs. They have the very best pricing for this product and always have it in stock. While there I have purchased fruits vegetables, natural hair dye and other products. I have never encountered a rude or unhelpful staff, just the opposite, they are ready to help and are Pleasant. I'm sorry about all the other reviewers experiences. I have never seen the place dirty. I drive over 30 minutes at least once a month to purchase the above products for about 2 years now. read more

Whenever I come to Mid NY for business, this is the sure go to spot. It was here that I was introduced to Juiced fruits and organic made food. I'm usually part of the wholefood, trader joes scene but since its 30+ miles away, this is a great alternative. The prices are somewhat the same as the healthy food stores that I just mentioned but what makes this place are the juices, and the food, like the Turkey Burger, Squash w/wild rice, Vegan egg rolls (very tastey), and etc. And seriously, I ate this food for 3 weeks straight and actually lost weight and had more energy, so I when I go back, I'll be doing the exact same thing. read more

Terrible quality, rarely fresh produce. Overpriced on most everything in stock (shopping elsewhere leads to 20-30% savings). An unfriendly and frequently put-out-attitude staff. A freezer section where everything is freezer burned. I've been in Beacon for over a year and I think this place is one of the unfriendliest in the town. The owner NEVER says hello. Never!!!! It's so rude and she knows who you are, as I was introduced to her personally. I never go there to do grocery shopping, only a couple if items here and there, a drink... Their produce is quite bad: I've seen numerous times tomatoes with black mold on them and what's up with bananas???? Have not shopped at BNM in a while and thought I had left a review. Not a good experience; the first time I shopped there the owner lied to me about ingredients in a supplement after I asked her to read it for since I did not have my glasses and was ill for a few days. What that about? Desperate for sales? A year of two later I started shopping there again thinking things change, right? Well, after I was charged the wrong price for an item, receiving my refund meant it took four people to handle it, and I received no apology for my being inconvenienced. A short time later, I was shopping in the store and various staff kept peeking in on me no matter what aisle I was in. And no one asked me if I wanted help! I live in Beacon and I use Mother Earth on Route 9. Most of these small retail stores need a lesson in customer relations. They must learn you are the customer not the enemy! read more

I go with my relatives to this market when I visit them. It's not run very well. Most of the workers in this small store are not around for questions and the rest aren't so friendly. They don't always have stock on needed items, prices are much MUCH higher than the excellent market I go to in Kingston, NY. Produce is so-so. The small deli counter leaves much to be desired in the way of service and offerings. Beacon needs a larger, customer friendly health food store with knowledgeable store personnel to meet the needs of the burgeoning upscale health conscious residents. read more
