I ordered the Stevo Burger, which comes with a sunny-side-up egg, applewood smoked bacon, and cheddar. It also comes with mayo and red onion, but I asked them to leave those off. The burger was excellent, though it was cooked a bit beyond what I requested. Also, all sides are extra, but portions aren't small. The burgers themselves would benefit from a bit of seasoning. Prices seem steep for this area. We have definitely had better burgers for less in major cities. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Service good. We went for Sunday brunch, and I ordered an omelets with Chorizo, poblano peppers and cheddar cheese - choosing ingredients from the menu for a make-your-own. Quite disappointed. The ingredients chosen were barely warm inside the omelet. Very sparse on the cheese which wasn't melted. Chorizo was also barely room temperature. But the worst were the poblanos which were raw and unheated. I have never seen any recipe or dish which did not use ROASTED poblanos. I have also cooked with poblanos for over 30 years, ALWAYS roasting the poblanos. To me, this indicates a critical lack of cooking knowledge in the kitchen. read more

I found this gem of a place when looking for a lunch spot not too far off the interstate. We stopped on a Monday for lunch. My family of four ordered different burgers. Between us we tried tater tots, sweet potato fries and regular fries. We eat burgers frequently and these were some of the best I've had. honestly, it was cooked perfectly, was juicy, the toppings were generous and yummy. I can't think of anything that would have made it better! These are also 8 oz burgers so very filling. All the sides were great as well. Beamer's has a great atmosphere with a modern look and feel. My wife and I visited in on a Sunday night when there were very few people in the restaurant. Service was a bit slow, even for a slow night but every one was very polite and overall very good. We had the soprano and reuben burger. They were both very good, but we ordered them cooked medium but came well done. They have a great craft beer selection if you are looking for that. If you want to try a different beer, try the Framboise. It is a lambic beer, meaning it will be more sour/tart. It is a very sweet and sour beer and delicious. read more

A really cool place just outside of the Downtown Roanoke area. It was a nice evening so we took a seat on their dog-friendly patio (yes, I got to meet a couple dogs). Across the street was this random music venue that was "entertaining" to say the least. My friend ordered a burger that he said was spectacular. I had the wings and decided on the Asian glazed and lime jalapeno flavors. I asked for all flats and they ended up serving me a few drumsticks. The wings were hearty in size but the flavors were okay at best. Not a big deal on not receiving all flats but a little attention to detail would have been nice. Service was a little spotty and our waiter said his manager let some people go early so they were a little overwhelmed. It took a while for my friend to get his beer. When I went inside to wash my hands I noticed a few of the employees (including my server) playing around their phones. I wanted to cut them some slack but I could see why there were a couple errors. The shining point was when I told our server that I would bug him for refills so he brought out my drink in a pitcher. I was certainly appreciative of this. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. If the weather is nice, definitely make it a point to sit outside. One separate highlight of our meal was watching a guy ride down the street on his horse. After visiting the VA Transportation Museum stopped by here on a Rainy Sunday afternoon. Plenty of beers on tap plus a large whiskey selection. Though the food is nothing too special, this place has great service. The servers are friendly and are attentive. The tater tots are tasty and my boyfriend loves their wings. The Chili Moco Loco consisted of - Beamer's chili over fried new potatoes topped with a 7oz burger and two sunny side eggs (for $9.50). Both dishes were okay. The crab cake and the Challah rolls were overcooked and dry, but the sunny-side eggs were cooked perfectly. The fried new potatoes were good but just wish there were more with the order. The Chili Moco Loco was very heavy for a brunch item, with the potatoes, chili, and burger. Wish there were different ingredients in it, aside from meat and carbs, as it was a bit salty too. There were other menu items I would be willing to try but don't plan on ordering these two items again. Service/Experience: 4 stars Good service, as the waitress was very nice and frequently check-up on our table. There's plenty of seating inside with TVs bordering the interior, which makes it a nice spot for Sunday brunch during the NFL season. Sadly the brunch is only offered on Sundays, otherwise I would go more often as I live right across the street. My husband and I came here on Mother's Day just before visiting a local winery. We loved the atmosphere and have a deep appreciation for the reclaiming of old buildings. I asked for regular ranch because the spicy was a little too spicy for my taste. My husband had the wings, which he loved each and every bite. They were large, very meaty, and he approved of the sauce/rub. Our server was attentive and pleasant and we had a very very nice time there. We are a family in town for a softball tournament. This is our second visit to this area. The last time we tried this place the kitchen had to close suddenly for repairs. Today we opted to try this again. We had our choice of brunch or lunch. We chose lunch. We started with the pretzel sticks served with mustard and pimento cheese. The pretzels were a bit salty, but good. We also had fried avocado slices. This treat although unique was actually tasty. I had the Sicilian pizza; my wife the Greek and my daughter the Italian sandwich. Both pizzas were outstanding and my daughter said the sandwich was good too. Their homemade chips are delightful. I approached this restaurant with skepticism, reading these reviews about best burger in town. I told myself that this was going to disappoint me like the Avengers Movie. However, I was impressed...as opposed to my experience with the Avengers movie. I've had the fried bologna burger and the cheesesteak burger. The bologna burger was excellent. When is fried bologna ever a bad thing? The cheesesteak burger was not as good. It was basically steak-ums and cheese whiz on a burger. Not impressed at all. And I gotta love a place that serves tater tots...you can get your fries if you want, but I'm tater tot guy. The beer selection is great and their wall of bourbon is quite impressive. If you've skipped down to see where my incessant rambling is going, then screw you. Just kidding. This place has a really good gourmet burger if you are looking for a sit down place to get a burger and a beer. If you want a quick burger with the family at a more casual place, then go to Burger in the Square. Last night (Saturday August 11) was my 3rd time here. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, this restaurant has a sleek and contemporary look to it on the inside. The first 2 times I was here, I had the Steve-O burger, which the topping is a fried egg. Even though they have a pretty large selection of unique burgers to choose from, this is the only one I was really interested in. Last night, I tried the Shroom burger ($9.25) and my wife had the Baltimore sandwich (crab cake) ($13.95). We also split a small order of tater tots ($3) and a side Caesar ($2.50), which are better choices than the fries. I believe the crab cake is overpriced for just an ok sandwich. This is also one of only 2 places I know in Roanoke that serves Bell's Oberon (Wasena City Grill is the other place). Any others? Since I live a few blocks away, we'll continue coming back. You absolutely can't go wrong with their huge onion rings as an appetizer, and the burgers and fries are spot on as well. Truthfully, I haven't eaten anything there other than onion rings, burgers, fries, and tater tots here... but everything I've seen looks tasty! They have a fairly good selection of beer. To start 2020, they took off some menu items that were favorites of my girlfriend and I. Menus change occasionally, so I understand that and wouldnt leave a bad review due to the change. However, the food quality stayed the same, yet everything on the menu is now AT LEAST $2 more expensive than it was before they revamped the menu. How do you justify charging more for the same exact food? That's just poor management.
