The farmhouse was originally a different, much older house that unfortunately burnt down a few years ago, but was rebuilt with a stunning modern farmhouse style. The main house is rumored to be haunted, with many staff members, including myself, experiencing it. All the spirits seem to be friendly... so far. Marriott Ranch no longer provides horseback riding since the pandemic, but they are in search of horses and someone to lead the guides. If you're interested, give them a call! Keep in mind that this is a rustic getaway, not a place to sit in your room and watch TV. Go out and explore the gorgeous 4,000+ acres, with rivers to explore, cows to say hi to, and an amazing staff willing to give Jeep tours. I couldn't recommend Marriott Ranch more. I have a huge love and respect for the property and its history.

We went here on an early November Saturday afternoon to pick apples! As you drive down the gravel…read moreroad towards the orchard you pass by a sign that reads "these trees of righteousness are watched over by angels" followed by a cross. So, at first we were a bit hesitant about what we were getting ourselves into. Turns out, the couple that owns the orchard are extremely nice. They took the time to explain what all the different kinds of apples were and also gave us apple picking sticks so that we could get the apples way up top. Even though we came to the orchard kind of late in the season, we were still able to pick 2 full bushels of apples. You can't really beat $13/bushel! Each bushel must have weighed about 40 pounds. When we went back to the house to return the tools, the couple also offered us apple butter and homemade apple cider! So far at home, I've been able to make apple crisp, apple pie, and apple muffins with still tons of apples left over. Hope they don't go bad! Tip: The entrance to the orchard where you pick up the boxes/tools is on the left. You basically drive right up the owner's driveway to their house. Don't be afraid to knock. They're very nice! Also, I don't believe they have call waiting, so if you try calling, you might get a busy signal.

The gentleman has his hands full, but takes the time to give you the lay of the land, educate you on the multiple variations of golden and red delicious, and encourage you to explore the property including a little pond perfect for picnics. After handing you apple pickers and a LARGE box for you to fill, he ushers you off with encouragement to sample anything and everything. Organic, natural, farm fresh means not looking grocery store shinny and clean. We were informed, but had no idea that it really is just dirt and dust washed off. Regret that as it cost us having more of our favorites! Once washed at home, they were more beautiful and the flavor was 10x that of store bought. They were the best apples we have had in years! Top anything from the local farmers markets. Make a day of it! Take friends, family, and the kids. Pack a picnic. Bring some soapy water and paper towels for immediate enjoyment! Who needs dessert with apples like these? Did I neglect to say that the price can't be compared to any other source be it other larger farms, farmers market or stores. Bring cash! Pick your own Strawberries!…read more As we rolled down 211 towards the Shenandoah region we couldn't help but see this sign and pull over to pick some fresh strawberries. The strawberries were very small, but you just can't beat $1.50/lb for fresh strawberries to munch on while you are on the road. They smelled so good and were very sweet. The patch was pretty big, however I think we were a bit late in the season to get the big ones. They also had some other country goodies in the store like homemade sauces and honey and other fresh produce. if we weren't in a hurry to get back on the road i could have easily stocked up on some local Virginia honey.

Had to write my review after because that area has no phone connection. The farm seems to be…read moredivided into two parts. The first part is the main store and their house is right behind it. When you arrive for picking you go in and sign your name and put down the make and tag of your car. After that the person at the front desk will give you milk jugs or a cardboard box to hold the fruit you picked. The price is per pound, for example blueberries are $3.99 a pound and black rasberries are $5.99 a pound. The availability of the different fruits/vegtables is dependant on the season so make sure you call ahead. Depending on what you decide to pick you will either be able to pick right outside of the store or you will need to go on the main road and take the first right where you will find the second part of the farm. There they have rows and rows of different fruits and vegtables for you to pick. Once you've picked your fill you head back to the store and pay. The store also offers a variety of homemade dressings, pre-picked vegtables and honey for sale. Very important to note: They only take cash or check, not card. The restrooms are also located in the back left of the store. Theres no mens and womens restrooms just one. Definitely bring hats as there is not shade when picking. Overall, its a fun way to spend time with friends and family. I would definitely recommend this place.

The staff members are true wine experts and treat you like royalty. The wine itself was fantastic.
