I really like the food here. I've gotten both take out and dine in. However, this has got to be one of the most frustrating places to do business with. On dine in, I agree with the other reviewers that service is slow and cold/unfriendly. For take out, 3 times in the span of 2 weeks I called to order ahead for lunch and each time the phone was a weird busy signal. I told them each time but they blame it on Comcast. I'm wondering if someone doesn't take it off the hook during peak lunch time. And lastly, I drove over today to get take out. It was 3:15 and their online hours say open til 4. This is a cute little place with a homey appeal. It's ideal for a quick breakfast or a light lunch before spending a day at the beach. I ordered some kind of mango green tea drink which was very refreshing and a black bean burger which was topped with red onion, lettuce, and what I refuse to believe is mayo... because I ate it. Served with a perfect portion of tortilla chips and homemade salsa, this is the perfect summertime lunch. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the food is pretty good. Despite this, I will not be returning. I came here with the intention of having a nice lunch with my parents. We were instead ignored by the nasty waitress who should have been helping us. First we waited 15 minutes for anyone to come near us so that we could ask for service. When we told the hostess/food runner the waitress overheard and nastily said "I've only been here 3 minutes" and walked away, rather than doing her job and attending to us. The hostess then took our order, by memory, and we finally got our food 45 minutes after arriving, after tables around us who arrived after had already eaten. My mom also got the wrong sandwich, but didn't want to wait any longer. The whole time we were there, the waitress never once paid us any attention. (However, I would like to note that even though my mom got the wrong meal, the girl who helped us was very nice and did her best to accommodate us). The waitress on the other hand should not be working there- she was rude and her attitude ensured that we will not be returning. (I should also mention I had a similar experience the previous time I was here as well). I am wondering where the manager/owner is because he/she did certainly not make herself/himself present. I suggest he retrain his staff or fire those not willing to provide even the most basic, courteous service. read more

As I looked around I could see other people not to happy. Someone needs to train the staff. Wow, this place was awful. My mother and I stopped in to get lunch on our way to a doctor's appointment. I ordered the "Fresh Mozz" with grilled chicken. Thinking about it is making me feel nauseous again. It was about an inch and a half of undrained fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomatoes, and a piece of grilled chicken. The undrained mozzarella juices proceeded to saturate the bread and the chips that were served with the dish with a refrigerator cold fermented milk water. It was the most horrendous thing I've come across. The bread fell apart. It chilled everything it came in contact with. The whole basket was filled with what should have been drained off. It was completely inedible. I tried to eat it with a fork and knife, but the bread was soggy and cold. I ate the chicken and tomatoes and left the wet mess behind. It was embarrassing and I left hungry. I'll never go back. read more

The Beanery is my favorite lunch spot! I don't get to go as often as I would like but always make a special trip to point for it. I always get the Santa Barbara on a croissant. It is amazing!!
