This restaurant is suffering from a debilitating cheese shortage. Excellent crust and fresh toppings but all for nought because the cheese gods have forbidden their kitchen from using any more than a baby's handful of mozzarella per each pizza. $25 per 16" round should have been a red flag. Maybe the exorbitant price factors in some of their overhead, like the nice open indoor space and dozens of beers on tap. Maybe that's worth it to you. Service here is absolutely dog water. I ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and was told it would be brought to me at The Garden next door. I also gave my phone number to the cashier after I paid. After 40 minutes I went back to check just to find my order was sitting on the oven waiting. One of the employees had to find it because it didn't have a name and then lied and said it just got out of the oven. The pizza was stale because it had been sitting there and the cauliflower nachos were soggy. This place is a really fantastic casual hangout. They have 30 beer taps, which seemed to be rotating while I was sitting at my table. It was a great selection, that didn't skew too much one way or another (There weren't 14 IPAs or 22 stouts, etc.) The pizza that we ordered took about 20 minutes to hit the table when they weren't particularly busy. This is exactly the right amount of time (IMO) for you to know that it's been made and cooked with the proper care and effort. The crust of the pizza was fantastic, just firm enough on the outside, and not too dense on the inside. The sauce and cheese were both great! One thing that really sets this place apart from a lot of places I've been to in town, is that they have an entire area set up for families with younger children. There is an area in the corner with a variety of toys and children's books, and a segregated outdoor patio with a few tables and a playhouse. This is really great for everyone, because the families with kids have something to do to entertain the little ones, and the groups without can be far enough from them that they aren't disturbed. Overall, this is the kind of place that is destined to become one of my hangouts. This place is an A+ for sure. read more

I wasn't sure it would be good for them but they had 2 really cool areas for kiddos to play. 20+ beers on tap made it good for us adults. I had the Capri salad and it was delish. I ate at Bear Canyon Pizza on for the first time Thursday night. It was busy but the staff seemed on top of things. We got a cheese pizza, a side of meatballs for the kids, and some of their garlic knots. The garlic knots were quite tasty, although the looked more like biscuits than knots. The pizza was crisp in the right places and tender in the rest, although it was a little spicy. I ended up eating some of the kids meatballs to push back the burn a bit. We loved the play area for the kids, which kept them busy before and after we ate. I fully expect to come back. read more

Let me start by saying that I was born and raised in New York. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to pizza, and I have not been able to find a pizza place in Tucson that fills the hole in my heart. This place fills the hole in my heart for pizza, and they even have a selection of 30 beers on tap! Imet one of the owners a few weeks back and he told me about the concept of the place. I immediately told my husband about it, and we kept (not so) patiently for BCP to open. We'd drive by weekly and see the progress we were making. When my mother in law came up to excitedly tell me that we had to try a new pizza place in town we were so excited!! We tried the pizza fries and a ham and cheese calzone. Both were absolutely amazing! Their selection of beer is wonderful, and the wait staff was very attentive to what we needed, but not overbearing. The calzone was so good we went back 2 days later and tried the pizza, which did not disappoint! The slices are huge, and the crust is absolutely delicious. Our second visit was just as wonderful. The walls have local artist's work, that are all listed for sale. They're really into supporting local business, which I really appreciate. The east side of Tucson has been in desperate need of a great pizza place, and I truly hope this place stays around. Whenever you come off Mt Lemmon after hiking or climbing or just driving up there, make sure to stop here! I've been here a few times now, and this has officially become my pizza joint in Tucson. My reasoning is simple: huge tap beer selection and the slices are huge and delicious. The quality of their slices are of a higher quality than other joints in the area. The pricing varies depending on whether or not you get specialty toppings. I noticed they have like three arcade machines there. I have yet to play them, but these will be nice after chowing down a slice sipping on some beer. One of my favorite part about this place during the cooler months when they open up the big doors to the outdoors in the seating area. Great place to catch a soccer game as well. Very clean and modern setting with cool paintings of the Tucson area. They have lots of beers on tap--lots of local beers--but since we were there at an odd time--about 2:30--we passed. We did a 14 inch build your own pizza with pepperoni, pineapple, and green chile. It was delicious--they are generous with the cheese and toppings and the crust is perfectly crunchy. We were sunset viewing at Windy Point Vista and needed a good dinner. Right at the base of the mountain, we spotted Bear Canyon Pizza. As soon as we walked through the door, we were warmly greeted by all the staff and a couple gave us suggestions on the menu. I ordered the sausage and pepperoni pizza and it was one of the most delicious pizzas I've ever had! I wish I could give more stars than just 5!!! read more

Food: Pizza here was amazing! This place is a must try. We got the Big Bear BBQ and The Baja pizza and they let us know it would be about 20 minutes for our pizza to be completed. It was worth the wait. Fresh ingredients and refreshing new combinations. The Baja with green chili and Chorizo has really good flavor but was Hot so beware to those who can't handle spice. If you like spice, you gotta try this. Big Bear was also really good! Looking forward to going back to try more. They did have salads and other dishes but we didn't get to try them this time around. Atmosphere: Very contemporary and modern feel, it's nice how part of it opens to the patio. The atmosphere here is very family friendly with a little spot in the corner and outside for the kids to play. However it is also upscale so the parents can feel like they are on a date. Service: The service here was spot on. People were ready to take our orders, everyone was friendly and down to earth. They came back to ensure what we had all we needed. On one half of our pizza we had asked for no olives when it came out of the kitchen they had accidentally put olives on it. They were very apologetic and made us a new pizza very quickly! Couldn't have asked for better service to reconcile the situation. We ate one half of the pizza while waiting for other to come out. Bar: Rotating and unique taps! Loved the beer selection, they even carry some we had not seen before. We found out for one beer in particular they were one of the few places to get this keg. They also have sour beer which I like. Amazing pizza, fast service on busy nights, and a wide drink menu earn this Eastside establishment five stars. If it were possible to give bonus points for the gorgeous local artwork on the walls, I would, because it shouldn't be missed. I've been to Bear Canyon Pizza three times so far and each time, I felt it was worth 5 stars. One of my visits was in the midst of the dinner rush on Friday, when I expected it to be busy and slow. It wasn't. My party found a table right away because despite being nearly full, they bring out the food so fast that they don't seem to get behind. At first glance, the prices seemed high -- especially for the slice -- and on my first visit, I thought that was going to cost them a star. But what they call a "slice" of pizza is easily enough for two people (or two meals) and brings the price down out of the stratosphere and into a range which is actually pretty good for this part of town. If there's anything I would consider a flaw here, it's that the restaurant is fast-casual (order at the counter, seat yourself, food comes to you). I prefer staff-guided seating in a busy restaurant, and generally prefer table service. But because this didn't actually keep me from finding a table during the busiest meal of the week, and because of the really amazing artwork on the walls, I feel comfortable with a solid five stars. read more

Bear Canyon has only been here for about a month. The newness of it is apparent, but they kindly put up a sign asking for patience since their staff is all new. The location is great. They have an area for kids to play, tvs to watch the game. And their individual slices are MONSTROUS. And this is all before I received my food. The wait is a bit long for pizza, but that may have been a result of a climbing competition next door. Pizza is pretty good, a bit greasy, but tasty nonetheless. We picked the 14" because it was cheaper for 3 people than 3 individual slices. Garlic knots were awesome: light, fluffy, and not at all crunchy. Those went fast. In general, this place is pretty decent. I think that once their staff figures everything out and experience comes in, they'll be a pretty good facility. It's a little too far away from my normal spot of town, but it'll be a pretty sweet spot to stop by after a trip to Mt. Lemmon. read more

Good place, pizza is pretty good, nice inside, lots of TV's, definitely recommend, but service is borderline. Seems like a good family place... good vibe... good for groups. Lots of people with kids, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. I had a slice of their Bear Canyon Combo pizza. It's a huge slice - more like a 1/4 of a pizza, so large that I couldn't finish it. The staff is mostly teenagers that seemingly could not care less about the customers. The person who took my order was very good - she answered a couple questions, was helpful, outgoing, friendly. The guy who delivered my pizza was literally TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE as he dropped off my pizza. I said "thanks," and he just nodded at me. Too funny! No one ever checked up with me, not that I needed anything. I'm not expecting much service at a pizza place where you order from a counter, but this was classic "I don't give a $h1t" that was really remarkable. Would have made a great "how not be be customer focused" video. Maybe he's prep'ing for a career at the US Post office. Oh, well.
