Finally. This place checks ALL the boxes. Feels like you're in an upscale spot in LA, Vegas or Washington, DC. And while not pretentious it's hip and relaxed while being a place you want to dress up to go to. Every one of your senses will be delighted. The view, the smells, the food, the service, the hotel costes vibe lounge music playing in the backdrop to perfectly pair in creating a contemporary ambiance complimenting the whole environment. Great job. In a few weeks I've been 3 times. I've tried the caviar cones that are a burst and mirage of flavors that left me wanting to order a dozen. Delicious. The guacamole experience at first glance I had written off, but friends decided to order and I'm so glad they did. Delicious!!! The Chicharron and Tostones were out of this world in flavor definitely worth it. The Fig drink is amazing. The sunset vodka drink with ginger OMG! The Mandavi red is amazing, the port is delicious for an after dinner cap off as is the espresso martini. I love all their glassware and tableware. They use the right glasses for the right things. Service is attentive, they're around, but they're not pushing you to be out the door -which I love. Definitely more of an Italy dining experience where they want you to sit back and relax and take your time. I love that. Especially because the place is so beautiful. You don't wanna leave and the chairs are so comfortable that you don't want to get up. Back to the food, got the special which was pork with a cherry glaze and goat cheese, drizzle. To die for perfectly accompanied with the artichoke. The ahi tuna dinner entree was cooked perfectly and a beautiful presentation. The steak was perfectly cooked. Wasn't a big fan of the Potatoes au gratin but it presented beautifully- I'm just more of a classic when it comes to that dish and they had a unique take on it. The crème brûlée was good. I feel like it's a staple that you can't really make any more exceptional than a good crème brûlée is. The surprise was the brownie, which I would not have ordered but friends wanted to so I tried it. it was amazing. I love the presentation of how they serve it and the taste was absolutely unique perfection! They made something taste exceptionally different, even though it seems like it would be your usual brownie à la mode. It's got a unique flavor that I have a hard time describing besides I recommend you try it because it's absolutely delicious. I've decided that I will have to try everything on the menu at least once. Because some of the things that I immediately wrote off with the things that I love the most. So now I'm curious to try all of their menu items. They do have a way of making dishes very unique and all their own based on how they serve it or the way they have prepare it. The lighting and ambience is like no other restaurant in Tucson. This place is an event. Breathtaking in every regard. Sat outside all 3 times. Twice at tables and once at the sofa overlooking the 18th hole. Arrived between 630-730 all 3 times and was totally comfortable. I love Tucson's weather and sunsets and wore my sunglasses for 30 minutes one of the evenings while watching the sun set. I was unbothered by the Tucson heat- but this is one of the things I love most about living here. The misters with fans above the tables do a nice job of keeping it cool without you getting damp. If you're concerned for the heat, that's a good outdoor spot to sit. I'll have to try sitting indoors at some point but honestly, I prefer outside and away from A/C. My boyfriend and I recently visited after the restaurant's remodel, and we were incredibly impressed with the whole experience. From the updated atmosphere to the excellent service, everything exceeded our expectations. Our waitress, Alexis, was especially wonderful. She is so friendly, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful throughout the evening. She helped with our wine selection and made sure every part of our experience was enjoyable. Her service truly stood out and made our night even better. The atmosphere was beautiful as well, with great lighting with a warm, inviting feel. We also had a brief conversation with Aidan, one of the busboys, and he was just as friendly and hardworking. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would absolutely recommend this restaurant. This recently renovated restaurant is at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. Beautiful views and very pleasant area especially if you enjoy your meal in their outdoor patio. Service was great. This is a fine dining restaurant so you will not be in and out of it quickly. Mango margarita is delicious and complemented my meal. I ordered salmon and also had an opportunity to try their short rib. Both dishes were spectacular. The salmon very juicy, I ordered it medium. The Flying V recently underwent a remodel and menu change which they launched this Spring. I've been back twice, once for my husbands birthday and another time with another couple. The interior remodel overall transformed the space. Despite the trees being fake, I like the vibes. One after though in my opinion is that some of the seating is on a sofa, which honestly is not comfortable for dinner. I think iif it were reserved for cocktail type groups it would be fine, but they attempted to seat us at table for two with sofa seating on our first visit facing west, which meant the sun was beating on our faces. We had to request to be moved. On our second visit we were seated at a table with four chairs, but again the sun was an issue. They do have shades and my recommendation is that their staff manages them better and waits to raise them until the sun is set. No one wants to be blasted by the sun. From a service standpoint we've had mostly good service but the bar has consistently been slow. The drinks for some reason take a really long time. Standout dishes on the menu are the guacamole. I loved the chicharrones, they are perfectly seasoned! The chips are on the oily side for my taste. The caviar cones are also a fun bite to try. And the beer tartar is quite good as well. I ordered the salmon for my entree on one visit. I enjoyed the dish, but it was on the salty side. And on another visit I shared the ribeye with my husband. It was plenty of food with the sides that we ordered. Overall, the menu is good. It's definitely on the expensive side to dine here, but I also found that the appetizers are very shareable if you're in a group of 4-6. read more

I recently returned to Flying V after not having been there for some time, and the improvement in the food was remarkable. The difference from my last visit was night and day. Every dish was well prepared. Based on this meal, I would put Flying V among the best restaurants in Tucson and one of the stronger dining experiences in Arizona. The atmosphere matched the quality of the food. It was warm, comfortable, and upscale without feeling overly formal. The pricing also felt justified given the quality of the ingredients and preparation. The only area that fell short was the wine list. With food this good, I expected a broader and more carefully selected range of wines, particularly reserve and premium options. The right wine can bring out the acidity, richness, and subtle flavors of a dish, whether it is a light seafood course or a steak. A stronger wine list would allow guests to create a more personal dining experience and bring the beverage program up to the same level as the kitchen. Even with that one criticism, Flying V has become a restaurant I would gladly recommend and return to. read more

the restaurant music is loud for a fine dining restaurant and not relaxing (think Vegas boom, boom, boom). the outdoor patio faces west with no sun shades so unless you want to fry, plan on outdoor seating after 8:00 pm. The indoor atmosphere is dark and cold. The staff are trained to be non personable (don't want to offend anyone by being yourself!?). They act like walking robots. The recent remodel is stunning inside and out, and the setting alone makes the experience special. We started with the beef tartare, which was delicious and served with light, delicious brioche. The Caesar salad was crisp and perfectly dressed. The jumbo asparagus was honestly the best I've ever had, grilled and topped with a light and airy chiltepin aerated butter that added amazing flavor and texture. The homemade cornbread arrived with three delicious accompaniments and was hard to stop eating. For my entrée I ordered the ahi, which was perfectly seared and excellent. One friend had the short ribs and raved about how tender and flavorful they were, while another ordered the sea bass special and was equally impressed. By the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and didn't think we had room for dessert. However, we were celebrating an 80th birthday, so dessert was non-negotiable. Entrees were the special: short rib stuffed chile relleno and mushroom tamales. The chile relleno was good, short rib was seasoned well. The tamales were fried so it made them really heavy and the sauce felt heavy too. Got creme brulee for dessert, which was decent. Granted I had lower expectations because we don't normally have a great experience at a resort restaurant as they become very dependent on resort traffic and struggle with the highs and lows. The Flying V recently went through a remodel in early 2026 while also changing their menu. The remodel turned out nice but the menu is very poor. If you love steak they have a ton of it but at prices similar to Flemings. If I am going to pay those prices I am going to Flemings. Besides steak they have little else to get excited over. As a result, I tried the smash burger off the grill menu but only ate part of it. It was dry and generally not good. A smash burger is ok for a fast food restaurant but not an upscale restaurant. The big misses are the removal of table side qaucamole and the ribs. Everyone we know loved the ambiance of the table side gaucamole and the ribs were a staple. I don't know why another reviewer is complaining that they took the tableside guacamole off the menu because it's still there and I watched them prepare it for another table. We did have the cavatelli pasta which was outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised as a lot of times the non-steak dishes are an afterthought. My husband liked it just as much as his NY Strip. We had dinner with a friend visiting from out of town. Food was just okay. Honestly, as I am sitting here writing this I don't recall what I had for dinner as it was just so-so. We had the same experience at another high end resort here in Tucson. Honestly, if you want memorable food I recommend you stay away from the hotel restaurants all together and research for the hot buzz places in town. Tucson is known for its UNESCO rating as the city of gastronomy. This is not that. The menu I remember was very limited and had a difficult time selected something. Service was good. Drinks good. But you can't mess up a glass of wine. I retired and moved here two years ago. I am slowly checking off those places I thought I could add to my favorite places to dine and take visiting friends. read more

Everyone was nice, but food was not cooked well. So this is a common issue when a steak is sent back. The first steak was overcooked, but it was also missing the lobster tail so I believe they actually grabbed the wrong plate. The second steak was undercooked and that usually happens because they are rushing to get the steak out to a waiting customer. Sometimes it's retribution for sending it back at all. Who's to say? Also the grade of aged prime rib was not good, fatty and unseasoned. Seafood was not prepared well. Lobster tail was overcooked and salty, shrimp in the grits were still slightly translucent. Overall not a horrible experience but I could have made the same quality, if not better, food and drinks myself. Kitchen staff could benefit from some retraining. read more

First let me say the staff was really great, the bartender created a unique drink so me which was very delicious. The staff and Connor the bartender definitely get 5/5! The food was ok, it wasn't my favorite. The salmon had a weird texture to it. That might just be me though. The pork belly was really good, I had that as an appetizer. I do wish I would have tired something else because some of the food coming out looked and smelled amazing. The reason for 3 stars is they have a fire alarm next to the oven in the kitchen. The fire alarm went off twice during dinner. The first time it went off for 10ish minutes and the second it went off as I was finishing up. This seems to be a common problem but it did dampen the experience a bit and made it hard for conversation. read more

Great make over of a somewhat tired resort restaurant. Fling V used to be the casual option at Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort. The Ventana Room was the 5 Star option. Sadly closed, and no one at Lowes ever has a decent story of why. Flying V is now much better, decor-wise, etc. The menu is good, vibe also. The only critique was the lame corn bisque. Served with the drama of a small carafe poured by a waiter over a large bowl of crisp accompaniments. Sadly, the carafe is cold, bisque cold and the portion in no way worth $20. Tip: This restaurant is located on the premises of the Ventana The friend who recommended this restaurant told me about how good the table side guac was, so we made of point of ordered it - I'm so glad we did! The cornbread/ fry bread appetizer and the polenta was my favorite ( the cornbread has a slight kick with poblanos) but I would order the scallops or pork belly again and again ( yes- it's that good). But the tequilas were actually really fantastic and sippable- it totally changed my opinion of tequila (maybe I've just been drinking the wrong tequila!). I am in between a 2 to 3 star on this one. First off, the reservation process was nice and easy to use. However, we got bad vibes right from walking in. The atmosphere was bland and boring but that wasn't a problem since we were eating outside. Outside, we didn't get great service. It was obvious the waitress cared more about the larger tables and not the two top. Prices were high for what was served. The food was good, for two people our bill was about $200. I think it was maybe worth $100. We felt very disappointed coming here. A table sat down next to us, weren't served and left. I wish we would have done the same. It would also be nice to put heaters on the patio. Lastly, table wide guac is not table side on the patio which was odd. read more

My husband and I were visiting my in-laws who were staying at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, where this restaurant is located. My in-laws spoiled us with dinner here! I understand they had a difficult time getting a reservation on the patio, though they happened to have a cancelation so we managed a seat with a nice view (although the patio was nearly empty when we sat down for our reservation). The patio overlooks the golf course and resort and is beautiful at sunset. If you can't get a patio reservation, they do slide open the restaurant walls facing the patio on nice nights so you can sort of get that indoor/outdoor experience. The host was friendly upon arrival! Our waitress was good, except that she infrequently checked back on us and I'm pretty sure forgot about my drink order three times - it took about 40 minutes to get my second cocktail... We had to check-in twice before I finally got the drink. This seems to be a common complaint here. My family and I tried a number of the margarita options, which were all good. This seems to be their specialty. My husband ordered a kentucky mule which tasted like it was all ginger beer, no whiskey. The guacamole was good, though very salty. I shared a ceasar salad with my MIL, which ended up being a small side salad for each of us by the time we split it. We did really like how they roasted the romaine for the salad! All of us ordered various main courses and agreed these were the best parts of the meal. The main courses change based on the season. I had the Ahi Tuna, which came with a fantastic sauce / greens. My husband had the ribs - boy oh boy was that a massive portion! Highly recommend getting a single rack unless you are splitting. I rarely give out one stars but I came here for dinner and breakfast and did not have a good experience. I expected way more out of a such a high end hotel. The night I went for dinner, I got the sea bass which was decent but it really didn't need to be $55. That's not the issue though. My friend got an 8oz steak and requested medium rare but came completely well done. When you cut into the inside, it was practically grey. Even the steak sauce couldn't save it so unfortunately, she had to send it back. When she got her new piece, it was still on the well done side - she didn't want to send it back so she ate it but it was not good. I came back the next day and got seated by the window. I was ready to order but they literally forgot about me for 15 min until I got up to say something. There were 3 servers to 3 table so they legit forgot about me which I was pissed. I tried to give them the benefit of doubt but they were just talking to each other and chillin in the back most of the time. Once I got my eggs benedict, it was extremely disappointing. The hollandaise sauce lacked flavor and there were only a couple slivers of smoked salmon. Not worth $28 for sure. There was nothing special or compelling about the dish. When our two butternut squash bisques were served our main entrees were presented to us at the same time and We were asked if we wanted them now or would like to wait till we were done with the soup. We elected to wait for the entrees. We have been to a lot of restaurants and never asked to accept the entrees at the same time as our appetizers. Just weird. Then when we were done with the appetizers the entrees took quite awhile to be served to us. Restaurant was not that busy.
