OK, I get it, this is a family-owned pizzeria that's been around for three decades. There's a loyal, locavore fanbase willing to go up to bat for Chariot every day of the week. I'll be brave and say it: Chariot Pizza is on the same level as value chain pizza. It's not like some family Italian joint, it's like a Little Caesar's with a bar. It was just OK. The sauce was bland, like they don't believe in oregano or any sort of spice at all, but the pie itself was loaded with toppings and edible. My fries were soggy and tasted like they were burnt. They were not so edible. Drinks are unbelievably cheap. I think the domestics are just under 3 bucks for a pint, and there's tons of AMFs and Trash Cans and other sugary, brightly-colored cocktails around 5 or 6 if you come on the right day. I have often driven past this restaurant, but today was the first time I went inside. It is a very casual restaurant/bar with pool tables and lots of drink specials. They had a sign for $4 margaritas with 3 Amigos Tequila. We tried their Spicy Wings which were a bit overcooked and the sauce wasn't great. It was also really spicy compared to other places. The fried zucchini was surprisingly good since I normally don't like zucchini. I loved the chicken parmesan dinner and would definitely order this again. The server was very friendly and interacted with the customers who were loud and colorful. We ordered a large cheese pizza and fried mushrooms. They were both okay. I've heard a lot of great things about this place and was really excited to try it. I went with a single slice as it was my first visit and to be honest, was a little underwhelmed. The crust is good. Thin, chewy very good NY style crust, but the rest of the ingredients seemed to be lacking and the pepperonis just fell all over the place. Perhaps it was the time of day I went but also there was only one person behind the bar and serving tables when I got there, and it was obviously too much for one person. The focus at this time of day seemed to be on the bar patrons and not those looking for food. When I moved to Tucson 15 years ago, the company would order Chariots pizza for team meetings and su h. One of our admins would go pick it up and when it got to us 10 minutes or so later, you had to bite carefully not to burn your mouth and pull the slice awY to try and break the goey cheese string. I fell in love with these pizzas and have continued to order and strongly recommend to visitors. I'm afraid that now they are off my list. I like to order one to pick up on my way back from Vail. The last 3 times, I've ordered it about an hour in advance, telling them what time I would be by to pick it up. The last few have all been like the one I got today. Luke warm at best with solid, not goey, cheese. I came in about 2 minutes after my expected time to a pie that was at least 20 minutes old. This has happened on three separate occasions so it is not a mistake. I always order online and do a pickup, which I have done for the last 10 years. Recently, when I do the pick-up, the employee presents the receipt, puts an X on the tip line, and tells me to put the total there. I know that if I do that, they will add the total I put on the tip line with the total of the food doubling the amount. This is deception and fraud, and I have tried to report this behavior to their website and the BBB. They are still doing it. Room temperature at best. Fries mushy steamed consistency yet 25% appeared burnt. Minus the $6 tip I spent $42 for 2 sandwiches, 2 fries (purchased separately), 2 large sodas and the $3 delivery fee. Meat, cheese, and veggies contained within, 3rd pound total, compressed the size of a standard hotdog. Whole meal and experience was awful, but the driver was polite and courteous. Hopefully this was a freak occurrence and not because I was that guy. Usually never am the guy that orders 20 minutes to close but I was. Sorry about that folks in the kitchen. Grinder, fries, drink special $8.19. Gyro sandwich $7.99. The Gyro was good as I was in the mood for one. Bread, sauce, tomato , onions, plenty of meat served fresh and warm. They don't carve lamb here but it was still pretty good. My wife's Italian hot grinder served hot was stuffed with meat. The fries looked like fresh cut, still had skins on. My husband, daughter and I eat at Chariots Pizza at least once a month. It has become quite the tradition, and we love the food and customer service! The only suggestion I would included is to add more parking spots! Sometimes we have a difficult time to find a place to park. Other than that, this is our favorite pizza place in Tucson and we love all the good times /memories. After we eat pizza, we cross the street and explore the "Good Will" next door. They redid the dining room and it's has a more romantic feel to it and I love it! I ordered dinner from here through the Yelp app on a lazy Sunday night. I'm always down to try new pizza offerings in the area. This chain was new to me. To my knowledge, they did not exist in Tucson until a few years ago. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, along with a slice of cheese pizza with pepperoni. The app told me that it would be delivered in 40 minutes, and it came in 20. The delivery driver was excellent, and gave wonderful service. It can be a pain to find my front door, and I wrote a note letting them know to contact me before arrival, and she was more than willing to oblige. The food was pretty good! The spaghetti and meatballs was nothing fancy, but, but it was fairly serviceable. The pizza was good. Nice and cheesy, and with crisp pepperoni, which is my favorite. Flowing wells location. Visited this morning. 5/18/2023 at 10:30am. We walked in to a empty establishment. we were greeted by a nice bartender who gave us menu's and water's. She asked if we knew what we wanted. I said yes, a Xtra Large Pepperoni pizza please. She said if you guys are eating here there's about a hour wait. I looked around and seen every table EMPTY. she said, take-out is about 30 minutes. She went back into the kitchen to ask if it can be made sooner as we were on a early lunch break. Unfortunately, she said I'm sorry the CHEF is backed up.. huh? Doing what? He's got about 60 orders to deliver. So I called the Alvernon store 25 minutes away from this location. I asked to place a pick up order as this location even though EMPTY can't do orders unless we wait 1hr to dine in or 30-45 minutes take out. He laughed and reminded me there on Alvernon. I said I understand that and if they can accommodate my order. He laughed and said yes 15 minutes it will be ready. Upon arrival they were busy and had a FULL restaurant. My pizza was hot and ready. I explained the situation at there other store and he said to me and I quote. " yes, we hear so much about how bad there service is,best to come here if you can". I paid and thanked him.
