Doe Mountain which turned into Bear Creek has been in my backyard my whole life. It's nothing to write home about, but for the price with today's Epic/IKON monopoly rip-off you can't beat it. It's like old skool pricing. The lodge has lots to offer too especially the Mountain Eatery. Grab a beer and some good eats after burning calories on the slopes. I look forward to every winter and the summer bands and events are awesome as well. read more

*****Harvest Host Review***** Recently stayed at Bear Creek Mountain Resort as a Harvest Host guest and really enjoyed our stay. The first night is free and additional nights are extra $, but worth it because it includes use of their outdoor pool/sauna, Mountain Activity Center, and more. The outdoor pool is a nice size and is located just outside of The Traile End Cafe, which makes it an ideal spot if you wanted to grab a bite to eat/sip on some drinks before/after swimming. There's also a sauna outdoors too. During our stay, we also took advantage of hiking the loop (5.1 miles) around the resort and top of the mountain. There's also games to play like table tennis and corn hole; and you could go canoeing and use the paddle boats on the lake free of charge. The also have guided archery and ax throwing for $15pp for an hour. If you prefer not to cook, there's two restaurants on site with decent food. Overall a great Harvest Host location that I highly recommend. read more

Went skiing with a friend after a heavy snowfall. Main critique is that the lifties are not strict on maxing out the lifts, letting people go 2 on a quad when there's a line of a hundred people waiting. Otherwise, it's a perfectly nice local spot to go for beginners and early intermediates. read more

This place is gorgeous and made our trip amazing. The hotel is very clean and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We had a ground floor room and lived the easy access to the pools and hot tubs. We tried out the peddle boat on the lake, archery, all the pools, and both restaurants. The outdoor pool and hot tubs was gorgeous. All the food from Trails End was delicious. The Grille - another story, don't go. The lake activities were so much fun. The Mountain View 2 Queen bed room was spacious and the TV is a good size. Would 100% go again! read more

Bear Creek is conveniently located not too far from Spring Mountain Adventures, but its season tends to start later and end earlier due to its proximity to Philadelphia. My experiences here have been a mix of highs and lows, so I'm giving it a fair 3 out of 5 stars. PARKING Plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. PASSES Bear Creek is more expensive than Spring Mountain but more affordable than Blue Mountain. I purchased a 2023/2024 season pass for about $500, expecting to go at least 10 times to make it worthwhile. However, with a late season start in January and an early close in March, it didn't quite pan out as expected. This experience reinforced my belief that season passes can be hit or miss depending on weather, scheduling, and unforeseen circumstances. VIBE & ATMOSPHERE The overall vibe varies depending on where you are on the mountain. Some staff members were incredibly kind and helpful, while others came across as indifferent. I personally had better experiences on the right side of the mountain, where things felt more organized and enjoyable. The left side, particularly near the terrain park, seemed much busier and less structured. While the slope itself is great, the area felt unsafe at times due to the lack of organization. SNOW & SLOPES Like most East Coast resorts, conditions can be icy. The snow coverage is decent when they are open, but Blue Mountain consistently has better conditions for a slightly higher price. That said, I did have some great runs on the right side of the mountain and felt my riding improved here. CHALLENGES & LEARNING EXPERIENCES While I had some fun days here, I also faced unexpected challenges. On two occasions, I had incidents while unloading from B Lift, which were difficult experiences for me. I recognize that things can happen at any ski resort, but these situations made me reflect on safety protocols and attentiveness. I strongly recommend being mindful of unloading areas and staying alert in high-traffic spots. FOOD & LODGE The lodge is visually appealing, and while food prices are typical for a ski resort, I found the fries to be a standout! OVERALL Bear Creek has its pros and cons. I had some really enjoyable runs on certain parts of the mountain, but there were also situations that made me hesitant about returning. I frequently ride at much bigger mountains, so I expected to be fine here--but that wasn't the case. If you go, don't have high expectations. Would I personally return? No. But I still had some good moments, and everyone should form their own opinion. I stayed here with my family over a short weekend. We had limited time and wanted to get a trail pass but was given the run around to go to the activity center to get a pass. Then we went there and it was closed so we could not get a pass even the hours displayed meant we should have been able to get a pass. There is a disconnect between communication between the different departments and buildings there. Every question we had about services were were redirected by front desk to go ask them. Not sure if the afternoon front desk is new but the evening front desk person was much more helpful and gave us a trail map. Room was a bit aged and moderate clean. For a resort hotel, we expected more free amenities and also the indoor pool was pretty small. The only amenity we really enjoyed and got to take advantage of was their gym equipment which have virtual mode on some of them. Breakfast is not included in your stay. Might as well shell out money to support a surrounding local diner. read more

I ended up staying at the Bear Creek Mountain Resort for one evening during a work visit in PA. Bear Creek Mountain Resort is located in Macungie, PA. It's a 4 season resort, but it's primarily known for its amazing Ski options! My check-in was for a Wednesday evening, with check-out on Thursday. I arrived around 6:00 P.M. for check-in. The resort is stunning! As soon as you enter, you'll notice the beautiful interior with stone fireplaces, decked out wooden designs, and beautiful patio furniture. There is a gift shop next to the check-in registers. When I went to check in, the first team member provided me with paperwork to sign and started to check me in, but their computer rebooted and stopped working. I had to go to another register, re-sign new paperwork, and provide all the information needed. The team member at Bear Creek Mountain informed me that they were having issues with their servers and that the TVs wouldn't work in the room. My room was on the opposite side of the resort, on the 6th floor, overlooking the ski slopes. The room was relatively large. It had a bed, office desk, additional chairs, TV, and a spacious bathroom. The bathroom had only a standing shower unit. For amenities, there are three different dining locations. I did eat at the Trail's End Café for breakfast on a Thursday morning. Dining: The Grille at Bear Creek Trail's End Café The Mountain Eatery There is a heated indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and a mountain-side outdoor pool adjacent to the South Tower in the hotel. The current Outdoor Pool & Hot Tub hours are 10:00 A.M - 10:00 P.M The Indoor Pool is open from 7:00 A.M to 11:00 P.M though!! The fitness center is free and it's located on the ground floor of the Hotel's South Tower. It has a wide range of fitness gear, such as free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes! The resort was empty, and since it was off-season, the Ski slopes weren't open, but the resort was wonderful to just hang out and relax in! It was a warm day, around 80 out, and the evening was just perfect for star gazing! This place looks to be a great resort during the ski season, though! read more

My family & I had an outstanding stay at this resort! We stayed on our way up to NY and on the way back home from NY in the month of July (2024). It was extremely clean, and the pools and hot tubs were fantastic. The inclusive activities kept us entertained throughout our stay. The food was excellent, and the customer service was the best I've ever experienced. Highly recommend! I loved that hiking trails, kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, pools & hot tubs were included in our stay!! They had an indoor pool & hot tub in addition to outdoor ones!! The walls are paper thin and the rooms are covered in dust. All through the night past quiet hours, you could hear constant stomping and door slamming. No one in my room could sleep through the night since we were constant being woken up by loud noises. If you cannot guarantee a room on the top floor, you will not get any sleep, making skiing miserable. The headboards, dressers, curtains, and sofa were all full of dust to the point that people without dust allergies were having problems. I wouldn't normally write a review about the following, but since I'm already writing, here are some other things to note about the rooms here: Serious lack of hooks/places to dry clothing for a place where your main activities are skiing and swimming. The Swedish massage at the spa has been the lightest pressure I've had for a massage, and if you ask for a little more pressure they will try to sell you the deep tissue massage. read more

If there was a way to leave negative stars I certainly would. Not only did the mountain ruin our daughter's first impression of skiing but our afternoon as a family. We were visiting the area for Christmas and decided this "family friendly" mountain would be a great way to introduce our daughter to skiing. We could not have been more wrong! After arriving at the mountain and paying $68 for children's rentals (didn't realize we were in Colorado not Macungie) we headed to the magic carpet. On my daughter's first even ski run, we were accosted by the ski patrol who demanded we leave the area immediately. Apparently if you do not have skis on, you are not allowed to walk your 3 year old child down the mountain. Having skied all over the country this is first I have ever experience such an asinine policy!! If you can't afford the insurance or to blow snow don't open your mini "mountain". read more

This is one of two local-ish ski mountains to us. We just started going this year as "something different" to try. No, this mountain is not powder coated, nor does it have 150 runs. What it does have is a fabulous dedicated staff. Our first trip I randomly walk up to one of the instructors asking where the nearest trail map is. He unzips his pocket and pulls one out for me to have. Then he helps us get pointed in the right direction. Everyone there was equally as nice and helpful. Their rfid card system needs a bit of work. It has glitches. Which they willingly accept responsibility for. I don't really think they need an advanced system like this for such a small mountain, but not my decision. The lifts are nice enough to get you where you want to be. The green trail "Broadway" has sections that are slightly more advanced, not quite blue, but definitely above a green. Just be aware. The slopes were well groomed. Not the terrifying courduroy ice found in the poconos. There is a wicked rumor that they are running out of water to blow snow. Seemed more than adequate when we went. Take this mountain for what it is and enjoy! read more

The slopes and staff are fantastic. I have shared my experience on social medial and found that others have enjoyed their time at Bear Creek as well. I like how large the property is so it doesn't feel as crowded as the parking lot looks. I had an issue with my bar code scanning at the kiosks but that was remedied at Guests Services. More chairs for the high top table in the cafe area would be great. I ended up standing to eat my lunch because there were no seats available. I plan to return and get lessons so I can "graduate" from the bunny slopes to the lift chair and come down the mountain. read more

The mountain is good and mountain ops is able to cover the mountain in snow very efficiently. However ski patrol here is on an infinite power trip they want to clip your pass for genuine mistakes. I've skiied for 19 years and never ducked a rope especially for some shitty snow in the Poconos. Sorry I can't see the rope and don't wanna get closed lined. Take my pass I'll take my business somewhere else. Respect goes a long way and it must be reciprocated. No wonder they need to hire more patrollers cause chances are it's a revolving door read more

My son (12 years old) and I went here with his school for a day of snow tubing. The event was great. We had the snow tubing hill alone for our group of about 50. I cannot say how this would be in a normal circumstance with a bigger crowd of random people. However, with our relatively small group it was a great day. The weather could not have been better. I did not count t, but we probably got to go down the hill 8-10 times in a span of 4 hours. Bear Creek provided our group with a small room at the lodge to eat lunch, and you could even bring your own lunch and they had a little kitchen area to heat it up if need be. The staff was great and paid attention to us. I suppose the hill got a little boring by the end of the day, but that can be expected with snow tubing. The hill was fast and bumpy as you would expect. I do have a small complaint with the parking though. We arrived at around 10:00 AM on a Friday, and it was hard to find a parking spot. People were parking in non-spots which made it hard even to drive around the lot and find a legitimate spot. They need better parking control. The bottom line is that my son and I had a great day, and this activity is loads of fun. I would highly recommend it if you are close. It is definitely worth and hour or so drive. If you are much further than that, it might be worth it to go to a bigger hill. For what it is, it is great though!! read more

And if there is an event at this place better book the event before you book your room, it is not hotel exclusive they sell out side event tickets and do not give hotel guest first choice. I paid 400 a night and breakfast at 8am was sold out the server actually said that they were so far back ordered that they could not take another food order. Beautiful resort...beautiful wedding. My niece and new nephew were married here. The staff did an excellent job and service was great. The location was a little hard to find, but in today's world of GPS, that really wasn't an issue. Parking was a little far away for people going to banquets. It was hard going up and down four flights of stairs in heels, but I managed. The actual banquet hall was a good size. It had a rustic theme and probably could use some renovations. We had cocktail hour prior to the reception. The appetizers included meatballs, cheese, vegetables, crackers and various other goodies that were served by roaming waiters and waitresses. The bar was open. I tried not to overdo it because I knew a meal was going to be served next at the reception. Acoustics in the hall were good and the dance floor was a perfect size. We had a beautiful wedding! I forgot to mention the best part. The setting in the mountains was absolutely beautiful! Especially since the Fall leaves were at their peak! read more

My family and I went here for a very brief getaway this summer - mainly to let my 8 month old (at the time) experience a pool for the first time. I thought the hotel did a great job of following COVID protocols and we felt extremely safe the entire time we were there. Our room was a suite and was cleaned well (eg. remotes in plastic bags) and large enough for us all to be comfortable. The fast casual restaurant was takeout only but we could eat by the pool or in our room which was great. We did also venture out for a sit down meal at the restaurant near the end of the trip and again felt very safe though that spot was a bit on the pricey side. The outdoor pool area was large enough and had enough chairs for some good lounge time and this was the highlight of the trip. They also have two hot tubs (one by the pool, another hidden away) which were also great. Good hiking trails and outdoor areas! At the time we went, the spa, gym, and some of the restaurants were closed which was understandable. They were using the indoor pool for the day camp so that was also closed. This place is a ski resort primarily but for a quiet COVID safe spot - definitely recommend. read more

OVerall id give the resort a 7/10 and I would say I had a good weekend overall. Rooms: My room was a standard queen double, a typical hotel room, it was a little dark and drab, but had everything you could need. I would just bring your own pillow. Spa: I had a coffee scrub at the spa and it was very pleasant and I would recommend it. The pool: The pool was a hit or miss. The pool itself is very beautiful and large. Some problems included EXTREMELY uncomfortable chairs, you heard people complain all day about the chairs, there also wasn't enough chairs, there was only around 15 chairs for a whole resort. Also there was screaming children all day everyday at the pool, which i understand but I didnt expect at a spa/resort. The activities: The activities they have are fun we LOVED archery with Steve, he was amazing and the highlight of our entire trip. We also did the Giant slides which I would never do again and we actually ended up getting a refund. Its no fault of the staff rather the planning. There is a rough ending at the end of the slide and I actually got all cut up so id pass on that if youre not a little kid. The food: I didnt think there was much of options at the resort there was only 2 places to eat one place during the day and one at night. The food was fine, not amazing, but fine=) There was a lot of weddings going on during our stay which closed the restaurant and activities down for certain hours and we didnt love that, we were paying to stay at a resort everything should be open. ALSO we didnt like that anyone from the community could come use the pool all day with their kids. We met a few people that were not staying at the resort and came for the day. There should be guest wristbands or something to keep the pool for guests, especially since there isnt enough chairs for even guest. Overall it was a fun cheaper weekend getaway read more

My family and I had a really nice time during our day trip to this mountain. It's a great set up and could handle his volume well. I liked the ski shop, it had all the necessities that you forget to pack and need on demand. It had a variety of sizes so it can accommodate kids and adults! The grill is nice and cozy- great eating options and a bar (which I didn't not patron but will be sure to make some time next visit) there is a cost double sided fireplace where you can wick the chill off before heading back out! The triple lifts are nice when you have multiple kids to help up the mountain. I don't have many ski resorts to make a comparison against but as a first time visitor it as run very orderly and had a very relaxed atmosphere which I appreciate compared to the handful that I have been to previously. We will definitely look into coming back and staying overnight to get out on the mountain earlier! read more

We came to stay 2 nights and no hot water to take a shower!!! After long drive all we want it's to relax and enjoy. It's took them 2 hr to let us know it's cannot be fix so they suggest to replace the room .. at 11pm! We paid for a nicer room and much more pricey. I am not an outside activity person and hate to be out in the rain and on the day we went it was raining so I was not looking forward to it, but ended up having a blast. My family went snow tubing and had a great time. All the staff was super attentive. The eating area and bathrooms were very well kept up during the pandemic. Food was average. We had burgers and pizza and it was good enough to hold us until we had finished our activity. Will definitely be back next year. read more

I stayed at Bear Creek for a night during Christmas week and it was the perfect little getaway! While the primary purpose of our trip was to scope out the wedding and event space, this was also a quaint and cozy winter escape. This is easily one of the cleanest hotels that I have ever stayed in. It's fairly new for a hotel ( think around 7 years old) and we learned that the owner constantly renovates and updates the space. You can 1000% tell. It's basically an ultra modern ski chalet. Large stone fireplaces, outdoor pools and hot tubs and fantastic views of the slopes surround you here. It's like winter paradise. If you are planning on skiing at bear mountain, then staying over is the way to go. There is a separate rental section for hotel guests, and you can literally ski in and out in a matter of minutes, or seconds if you already have your gear. If you aren't into skiing (aka me) there are plenty of other activities. Pools, hot tubs, a gym, a spa, a few restaurants and a bar are all on the property. We had lunch at the cafe and dinner at the sit down restaurant and both meals were great. Beer is cheap too! The room was a bit pricey, but we did stay over Christmas week so it was expected. I think we paid around 250 for the night. I really have no complaints about Bear Creek, but was just a little peeved about the check-in situation. You can't check-in until 4 PM and there is no early check-in option. Check-out is at 11 am the next day. So unfortunately, they don't really allow you much time in the room. Otherwise, we had a great stay here! We won't be having our wedding here, but I'd certainly come back for a winter getaway. read more

Wonderful place with lots to do and a variety of dining options. The outdoor pool is a bit small with loud screaming kids and a race for the unconscious pool lounge chairs. Covid holy hell! Staff is unmasked and so are the guests so if you are concerned about Covid this isn't the place. The scene: Scenic and very beautiful though with ample hiking and walkways. Jacuzzis are in abundance. Service: Would def return here at some point;) The pool bartender needs an attitude adjustment - she was dismissive and busy. He then proceeded to breathe all over my family to measure us for skis. I noticed plenty of workers with noses out. And a ton of patrons without masks or with flimsy token bandanas or neck gaiters. read more

I had a very disappointing, rude, and unsafe stay at Bear Creek Mountain Resort*. If I could refund our entire stay, I would and will not be recommending this place to friends or family any time soon. I chose to come back to Bear Creek after having a positive experience at a wedding there last year. My getaway was two-fold: to get some work done remotely as a work retreat and to celebrate an Anniversary. After weighing options, the website made it clear this place could meet those needs while also fulfilling a vital demand I had of a place that was taking serious Covid safety precautions and keeping guest safety in mind. None of these expectations were met at all.  Below is my list of grievances that I hope they will address for future guests: 1. We had noise past curfew all around us, well into the AM hours. We had very loud families with small kids above us and across the hall from us. No one was enforcing quiet hours. 2. The door to our room was broken for the duration of our stay, photo attached.  3. The sheets on our pull-out bed were dirty when we arrived, with crumbs and snack wrappers in the sheets, Housekeeping had to come in to change them. 4. I was partially here to work remotely. My zoom calls and meetings were greatly affected by slow / unstable / non-existant internet on the public wi-fi. When I tried to work with the front desk to resolve this urgent issue, including bringing my computer to the front desk and typing in the password for the secure network for her to see (because she didn't believe I was doing it properly), she ended up shrugging and saying "yeah it's probably getting fixed and is down right now." The password never worked, I couldn't conduct my meetings and had to postpone. 5. We tried to go on a hike using the trail map provided by the hotel. Both the map and trail blazes in the woods were insufficient, unclear, and some spots were flat-out closed with caution tape (not marked on the map). We got lost several times, had to hike up one of the slopes, and (even as experienced hikers) were put in physical danger multiple times.  6. The front desk staff was rude and short during our entire stay. In fact, upon check-in, the clerk told us she was just seeing our special notes from the survey the hotel asked us to fill out ahead of time (makes no sense to fill out something no one will read) and saw that we were also celebrating a 20th Anniversary. Her reply was "Oh good luck, I'm going through a divorce after 23 years." I was left aghast.  7. On the first night, we were excited to eat at the restaurant, safely distanced from other guests outside (all of which were promised at the front desk). It was our first venture to a restaurant setting with a waiter and a potential real treat. When we got to the venue for our reservation, they told us the outdoor dining was closed due to understaffing and that we could order food to go. This was not what we came here for. We ended up canceling and driving into town for takeout.  8. There were no safe pool spots at either the indoor or outdoor pools. In fact, it seemed there was no regulation whatsoever on how many guests could congregate, nor time limits on how long guests could rotate in and out. Language around the resort states that these areas would work at limited capacity to ensure equitable guest enjoyment. We never got time, safety, or space to enjoy the pools or hot tubs, which were also a huge reason we chose this resort. 9. SEVERAL guests were not masked within indoor spaces of the hotel. This is absolutely unacceptable. We even saw guests walking by the front desk and greeting the clerk as they walked by without masks. The main lobby hand sanitizing machine was out of fluid. We told the clerk on our way out on a drive. When we came back an hour later, it was still not replaced. I did not ever feel safe or that my health was respected by either guests nor hotel staff.  10. Hot tubs were not available at any of the times we tried to enjoy them. Indeed, there were even parties who were in the tubs for over an hour.  11. The night before our check-out, I requested a noon check-out the next day so I could schedule a virtual meeting with my team. The gentleman at the front desk confirmed. In the morning, I called to double-check and the clerk very rudely told me she couldn't honor that, the room was booked, and threw her colleague under the bus saying "oh he's just part time he doesn't know what he's doing."  12. Every single time we called the front desk number provided to speak with someone, no one answered.  I acknowledge this institution is trying to function during a pandemic and may be understaffed. I really tried to give this business the benefit of the doubt MULTIPLE TIMES, but this is way over the line. Extremely disappointed in this business, customer service, and lack of care. *Update: On 8/27/2020 Management reached out to me, refunded this stay, reassured me steps were being taken to remedy these grievances read more

So BC is a solid mountain but it just can't really compete with Camelback or Blue. Not sure how/why they charge the same price as other mountains.... It's smaller and it usually gets less snow because of a lower elevation. The only better thing is that it's about 30min closer than the other two. BC does have a great Lodge, a friendly staff, and a cool daycare area for kids. Aside from that their terrain Paris pretty solid as well. But as I mentioned earlier, the other mountains offer more elevation and more slopes. If you're looking for a really quick trip with the family BC is nice to check out. But if you have time just drive a little longer and get more bang for your buck. read more

Delicious menu options! Everything from burgers and sandwiches to salmon and filets. We don't eat here as often as we like but every visit is always enjoyable. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary last night and were treated with complimentary champagne! Very sweet of them. Fugi roll, bread and house salad for our appetizer. Everything was really fresh. My favorite dishes have been the salmon, jambalaya, and last night I had the shrimp pasta. Super savory with plenty of jumbo shrimp with angel hair pasta. The atmosphere is really warm and comforting with a beautiful view of the mountain. Service is always attentive and helpful. Great venue for a wedding! Always a great meal for a celebration or just a delicious meal after hitting the slopes. read more

I'm not going to review the ski conditions or size of mountains; it's in the pocono area so set your expectations accordingly. I am, however, here to say that each and every staff member I've met last season and this season has been fantastic! They're all super friendly and helpful. Today I had an issue that I'm guessing involved every desk or section they have (ie customer service, group sales, rentals, etc) and everyone was just amazing. The kitchen staff isn't included here because I brought my own food today, so I have nothing good or bad to say about them. read more

Wife and I decided to take a last minute trip up to bear creek. It's usually a nice time. I'm currently in a room at 10:15 on a Saturday night. There's a party going on in the room next door. It's been going all night. It's not just noise, but a big party!!! Music blasting, everyone having a great time!! I love a party and hate to be a negative Nancy, but I came here to relax. Not deal with this shit. Especially having to pay this much to deal with it!!! Called the front desk to ask if they can send someone. Lady told me she's sorry quiet hours start at 11:00. "Nothing I can do". $300.00 plus for a room and we have to deal with this bs??? Never again. Update! I had to actually call the front desk again at 11:20 to get some peace and quiet. I know shit happens and things are out of peoples hands, but wtf. I seriously can't believe I had to call again about this. It's just ridiculous. read more
