Campground is nice, seasonal campers are not. The owners are friendly and back stabbing at the same time. They don't allow certain breeds of dogs, like pit bulls yet they allow a seasonal camper to have a vicious standard poodle. Rosie seems like a nice dog but don't let it fool you. The dog viciously attacked me and my dog and both the campers or the owners refused to pay the vet bill. If you have pets, STAY AWAY. read more

Honest Review of a Quiet Campground with Some Caveats Overall, this is a nice, peaceful campground. The sites are clean, the grounds are well-maintained, and it's a relaxing place to unwind. If you're just looking for a quiet spot to camp and do your own thing, it can absolutely work. That said, there are a few things to keep in mind: Minimal Amenities: Don't expect organized activities or a bustling campground store. It's very much a "set up camp and entertain yourself" kind of place. The store is rarely open, so if you forget supplies, you'll likely need to make a trip into town. Mixed Interactions with Staff: The owner (wife) was unfortunately not very welcoming. She came off as rude and unapproachable, which definitely took away from the experience. At one point, she walked through our campsite, apparently checking for outside firewood--because clearly, smuggling in a few logs is high on every camper's to-do list. (For the record, we bought our wood just a mile down the road.) To put it gently, she gives off strong Karen energy--the kind that makes you half-expect her to demand to see your firewood receipt. Even a seasonal camper warned us, "Yeah... she's like that." Honestly, when she went on vacation during part of our stay, everything just ran smoother. The atmosphere relaxed, people seemed more at ease, and the whole campground had better vibes. Coincidence? You decide. Friendly Staff Balance: Thankfully, her husband was the complete opposite--laid-back, helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. The maintenance guy was also fantastic--friendly, hardworking, and clearly takes pride in keeping the place nice. So, would I come back? Maybe--with the right expectations. If you're self-sufficient and looking for a clean, quiet place to camp, this can absolutely work. Just don't expect warm hospitality... unless you catch them while the campground's Karen-in-chief is on vacation. Very clean and the staff is friendly. There were friendly folks, but it had a very "nosey" feel to it. Uptight. There was ONE seasonal site tenant in particular, who acted like he owned the place. Pacing his deck 24/7 just looking for things to complain about. He complained about our Trump flag, and we were asked to remove it. We did not see anything in the rules about that type of thing, but Ok, we weren't going to let it ruin the weekend. Later, the same man proceeded to have his WIFE/GIRLFRIEND go to our neighbor about their lights "blinding him" - um they are built in blue lights. Look the other way dude. And handle YOUR OWN GRIPES!‍ Sweet Jesus. I hope "Karen" brings business in..BECAUSE HE IS DEFINITELY DRIVING IT OUT! They know who he is. ONE GUY....permitted to have too much authority. Sad! He is affecting the return customer ratio. We will never go back and the neighbors won't either. Campers talk about the good v bad campgrounds...word of mouth travels. read more

We spent our first camping trip Of the season at Lizard Creek and it did not disappoint! Easy registration at the camp store. They escort you to your site. The owners are a lovely couple. And all the staff were very friendly. The pool was so refreshing and very well kept. The showers and bathrooms were clean. The community room has couches and recliners as well as a fuseball and an air hockey table!!! Definitely worth another visit!!! read more

One of the quieter, cleaner campgrounds we've stayed at in the 10+ years we've been camping in eastern PA. Bathrooms were immaculate and since it wasn't full they had everyone nicely spaced out so we weren't right on top of the next people over. The owners/staff are a bit more involved than others we've visited - they make a point to escort you to your site, stop by and check on things, etc. but they were very kind and it was not intrusive. Upon check-in they reinforce the rules, which at first seemed a bit over-the-top but I gotta say, it was such a peaceful experience. After a relaxing weekend with no loud noise/music, no off-leash dogs, no obnoxious/offensive flags, no one speeding through the gravel lanes kicking up dust...I was super impressed and glad they took the time to remind everyone of the rules! If that keeps the loud obnoxious guests away, I'm here for it. We decided to rent one of the campers they have on site and it was extremely clean and had everything we needed for a 2 night getaway with our pup. Our parents stayed at the next site over and had no complaints. We were right along a very scenic creek where we saw some fish, frogs, and one morning a bald eagle flew overhead. The pool was still open after Labor Day too. Great campground - highly recommend! read more

We visited in July. Communication with staff was great. They promptly replied to my e-mails. We rented the full service cabin. Check in: We were told that check in was between 2p.m-7p.m. Upon arrival there was only one staff at the camp store/front desk, she was on the phone with a guest making a reservation. I waited about 15 minutes and she finally checked me in. I got a map of the campground, the wi-fi password, trash bag, etc. Location: Lizard Creek is located about 20 minutes from Jim Thorpe. There is a Giant grocery store about 10 minutes away. Beltzille State Park is about 20 minutes. Cabin: Full service cabin. Queen size comfortable bed. Bedroom had a closet and 2 bunk beds. Plates, dish soap, paper towel, sponge, pots and pans provided. Full size refrigerator and microwave. There was a grill outside which we did not use, it was dirty, previous guest did not clean it. The TV was not working properly, the screen was not clear and the remote did not have working batteries. I brought this up to the front office lady who spoke to the owner. We were given new batteries but the screen was the same. The next morning, a new TV was installed. It worked great! The cabin had a table and chairs on the deck and a fire ring with 2 benches around it. The laundry room and the public restrooms were located in the building in front of the cabin. Bathroom: Good size, hot and cold water. No problems taking a shower or bath. Storage in bathroom. Overall, besides the long wait at check in, we had a good experience. read more

This is our 5th visit to Lizard Creek and we've never been disappointed by the hospitality and friendliness of the owners. We love the fact that there are always new additions to the property and improvements going on. This last visit we explored the walking trails nearby. Easy access to the D & L trail and there is a lovely walk across the creek. Peaceful and tranquil. read more

Camped here 2 weekends in a row. Campground is small and sites are very close together. Campers are literally parked on top of one another. First weekend we were told they could hear our music at 4 in the afternoon. Following weekend we were reminded of quiet hour even when just holding a nice quiet conversation. This was our first stay at Lizard Creek Campground. The owners, Mark, Grace and Ali, were all friendly and welcoming. Our site was located near a creek and the campground had a serene feel to it. We arrived on a Thursday and found there were several empty sites all which filled on Friday. Saturday morning I took my coffee outside and kids were fishing in the river, riding bikes, and just being kids! The campground was well cared for and very clean. And thank you Ali for all the attention you gave to Sophie. We all felt very welcomed here. read more

After tent camping for many years, this was our first outing with a small RV. The hosts couldn't have been more accommodating; they helped my husband back the trailer in and were happy to share info regarding best places to access the D&L Trail. The creek is lovely... next time we're going to pony up for one of the creek-front sites. An added bonus (which we did not know ahead of time): Cabela's flagship store (in Hamburg, PA) was a half hour away. That place is not a store; it's a theme park... we had so much fun. TV reception (via cable) was not very good, but we didn't care enough to make an issue of it (we watched a DVD on my laptop). All in all, a really nice first RV experience.
