Another one of the many shops in big Bear that seems to have a bad reputation for poor shop owners. When I first walked in, I was greeted by only one sentence and that was. "We do not allow dogs in the store." That being said, they should first greet you unless they want the customers doing an about face when they have a service dog. She clearly had her vest on, but that was unknown to him apparently. The bottom line is I was turned off the moment I walked in, still did a little lap and did not buy anything. Last night, we entered this shop and were not greeted. A woman wearing a red long-sleeve shirt with dirty blonde hair followed us throughout the store and later stood at the front desk watching us on the security cameras. Mind you we were the only people in the store. When I noticed her staring at us, she appeared to panic. We left shortly after because the experience made us feel uncomfortable and racially profiled. I do not recommend visiting this store. Do better ! read more

I don't normally review small shops but this place has a unique item that I have to review. Most big bear places have your standard stickers and such. This charming little spot has theses super cool wood stickers yes that's right stickers made from wood. They are just too cool not to share. Also the people are very nice and I don't know why people are so Mad. You can tell they deal with a lot of tourist all day so be kind. Again this one tiny unique item just had me so enticed. All the stores have the same ish stuff but I couldn't find anything like this elsewhere. Great addition to my hydro. read more

I like the fact that I'm bringing up the average star-rating on Yelp of this place with a two star review. Haha. While stranger things have happened, I doubt this write up will end my status of never having been selected for Review of the Day. Oh well.... Despite a penchant for attracting really angry and easily-offended customers, this store has the usual crapulent selection of Chinese-manufactured trinkets, gag-gifts, and touristy garbage. Stuffed animal key chains, refrigerator magnets, man-cave tin signs, bizarre blown glass bric-a-brac, t-shirts in colors that don't exist in nature, all emblazoned with "Big Bear"... exactly the same as the stuff marked "San Jose", "Las Vegas", or "Crescent City" in those towns. Still, if you're into that sort of stuff, or if you absolutely positively gotta have a rubber band gun, like right-friggin-now, well... you only have this and nine other stores within a five minute walk to make that purchase at what must be a 700% markup over cost. To their credit, the lady behind the counter didn't move a muscle for our entire time in her store. For all I know, she was a mannequin. That's fine with me, despite the relative certainty that she was a MENSA and Toastmasters member, we didn't engage in any conversation that might be construed as scintillating or even granular, as it were. I was visiting as a tourist with my boyfriend (let me remind you i'm mixed with black and white) and this white female worker accused me of stealing as my boyfriend and I were walking out about to leave the female worker told me "Before you leave I'm going to need you to take those socks out of your back pocket that I saw you take." & I responded and told her "I didn't steal anything.. you mean my phone that I put in my back pocket?" & I then I pulled my phone out.. Let me remind you.. I wasn't wearing anything to even give her that impression.I legit had no where to even hide anything.. I was wearing a tube top and baggy jeans.. & then she proceeded to say "okay, I'll believe you." & I told her "racially profiling at its best" & my boyfriend (who is white) literally said "Of course you accuse the only black girl in the store of stealing" & the sad part is is that we were in a hurry so I couldn't buy anything but my boyfriend and I were planning on coming back the next day to get socks for a friend because we were only there for the weekend.. Maybe I visited after some changes based on previous reviews, but I had an okay experience here. I love browsing these gift shops with pretty much the same stuff at each shop. But, this store had a few different items than what I'd seen at numerous other stores. I found a Christmas ornament, a nice brushed hoodie and a pin. Prices were the same at other shops. The staff behind the counter were nice and actually very complimentary to my friend and to me. So I didn't have a great experience, but nothing like what others have experienced. read more

First time in Big Bear, wandered into this store and there were several people inside. I started to browse. Selected a sticker and post card that I wanted to buy. Was about to turn to cash out and a blonde woman just curtly said "we're closed" and me and my boyfriend, confused just said oh okay.. and stumbled out. She offered an apathetic "yeah..." .. the store didn't close for another 15 minutes per their posted hours (I learned after or I wouldn't have gone in!!) was just shocked by the customer service. Update: I did have to reach out again to them on Facebook and I got a response back within a few hours the security footage was reviewed and it was indeed proved that my sweater was not in the bag. I was sent another sweater free of charge since it was a mistake on there part but it was not the sweater I picked. Hence I am giving my updated review and adding one more star than last. read more

Horrible gift shop!!! And I mean horrible because of the customer service! Rude rude rude! Tried to exchange a shirt for a different size I had just bought but left the receipt in my luggage. No compassion at all. Besides that totally rude in every way. Why be so rude to your customers??? Just another gift shop with a block full of them you would think they'd have better customer service. Wow! The worst customer service I have even experienced while visiting this beautiful town. How is this place still in business. I was in town visiting and we were doing some shopping. As my husband and I walk into the store he says hi and she doesn't respond. No worries maybe she didn't hear him. Then we go by register and pass her and he says hi again I purposely looked at her face as he says it and she literally rolled her eyes and continued to her computer. If this wasn't the owner she needs to be fired. You are losing a lot of business. I walked over next store and did some shopping. I live in a tourist spot I get that you get sick of it sometimes but that's what brings in money, keeps your town and stores going. read more

The staff needs to be educated on the law regarding people with disabilities. The ADA allows those who are hearing impaired to not be required to wear a mask. The staff was extremely rude and would not allow a disabled person to enter. Not only were they rude to the customer but they continued to speak poorly about that person to other customers. Just went into this place and will never be back! My daughter wanted to buy some fake snow and was with her older brother. She charged her $16 and spent all her money. When we went back in to get a refund cause she was upset that she spent all her money. The lady ( I think her name was Valerie) was rude and disrespectful to my wife in front of my daughter. i would give this a negative star if i could. they don't even deserve a one star review. the worst customer service i've ever had in my entire life. i've never experienced such a rude employee. i've never been so appalled a store to ever still be in business and to see all of the bad reviews. you yelled at me and partner with such attitude and brought such a scene in the store for looking at the rocks. to the point my partner walked out of the store crying. i proceeded to go back into your store and tell you to next time not yell at a customer but to be polite to not look around in the rocks so much, but to embarrass a customer in front of your whole store. you should never work in customer service or around people again to say that you were polite and then proceed again to yell at me in your store telling me that i was wrong? This place was awful to our 4 year old daughter!!!We purchased a $20 stuffed giraffe last night along with other items. One of the hands fell off the giraffe this morning. We tried to get it replaced but the employee said it was against their policy to give refunds or exchange for damage items. Since it left the store in good condition and we chose to purchase it there was nothing she could do for us! It is the owners policy. She said well, in the old days they never that before (returns/exchanges). We explained it is 2017 and the modern day where every place willing to satisfy their customers would have made this right! She mentioned that she didn't know if maybe our dog got a hold of the giraffe. Are you serious? We don't have a Dog. We're here on our family vacation. And then she went on to insinuate our daughter ripped it apart. My daughter has a hundred stuffed animals that have not fallen apart in 4 years. She is not rough with her toys. The item was just poor quality and it seems that they are used to this problem from other reviews. The owner is only available by email and So conveniently unavailable....very interesting! I'm not sure how this business is still running. Or even how anyone would want to work in a place like that! After we were clearly upset, the employee says she agrees with us but she has to follow the policy and gave us the email address to contact the owner. It was so disturbing/shocking and my family felt disrespected after all the money we spent in this store the night prior. Not to mention a very disappointed 4 year old. I really wish I could return everything and take my business elsewhere. I warn all you visitors "DO. NOT. SHOP. HERE." if it breaks they will not refund/replace for you!!
