Had some time before the movie started so I walked in & it has some cute essential items! Quality sweatshirts, hats, slippers that are very plush, cool handbags, fun trinkets and kids animal hats. You get the feeling that they're eyeballing you & all I was doing was browsing and snapping pictures for my review. I didn't buy anything, although the prices were reasonable considering the location. Reading other reviews a lot of other customers were uncomfortable as well. It seems like there are too many stores in Big Bear that obviously have that as an ongoing situation. It's too bad there's so much theft going on or so much distrust. TLDR: Store tried to charge higher price than what their price tag stated and when asked, they declined to honor their own pricing. The item (gloves) was tagged with one price. When I went to pay, they attempted to charge more than the displayed price. When I inquired, the initial employee was going to honor the price tag. A reasonable thing to do. After seeking the manager for approval, she declined to honor the tagged price. She said the other gloves were marked with the higher price, essentially acknowledging the error in their tagging of their merchandise. Considering I don't work there and didn't price tag their merchandise, it was really confusing why that was relevant. Also, this all begs the question of how many times they do this to their patrons? Is it company policy to price an item one thing and overcharge by 33% and hope no one notices? Just honor the price tag. Not difficult. You did it, not me. I'm a paying customer, who is in town regularly enough. I hope the $5 was worth it. You clearly needed it more than me. Bums. read more

PART 2 from my last review. I deleted the picture since I was able to continue my Yelp review right here. I waited for my sister outside. My sister told me a lady came out with her and Briana was telling her what happened and was clearly the frustrated one. The lady told her to go to the back right now. As I was waiting outside another customer that was in line and overheard the entire thing walked out. She looked at me and I asked her excuse me, I know you were in line and witnessed that entire thing. I asked her if I was able to ask her a question. She said yes, I asked did I say anything or was in the wrong during that entire interaction. And this random lady that I do not even know told me No it was definitely not you. She was the one who started speaking down to you and being very disrespectful. I thanked her for her honesty. I told her sometimes in situations like that how someone else might see it differently than I did. I'm sad that I had this experience, every year we come to Big Bear and stop by Brown Bear for the kids to get something to remember our trip. This just ruined the end of it. Thankfully 2 shops down the owner of Brown Bear has another one with similar things. But we went back to get another item when they accused one of my family members of stealing when he had just not put the item back where it belonged... My mobility assistance dog and I were just kicked out because he whimpered twice in a highly stressful situation. The vibe was hostile and condescending at best. Art Garden right next door were friendly, they accommodated us and understood that new service dogs sometimes make noises when they're not used to high traffic. If you are disabled, avoid this shop! An adorable little toy shop that is really focused on dolls, run by the kindest lady named Gladys. This is NOT a toys-r-us by any means, and the concentration is on dolls and plush toys, with some games and smaller items for toddlers. The store is much bigger inside than it looks like from the outside, with four inner rooms of items to choose from. As this was my first visit I was a bit overwhelmed by all the dolls, and was not finding anything else of interest, until I ventured into the furthest room in the back which has a great selection of plush hand puppets. I purchased a horse, a lion, a rooster, a chicken, a fabulous pea-cock and a zebra! I am now committed to write some short plays to enact for the children for the holidays to get them away from the TV and iPad and into another, and older world of imagination! My girlfriend and I came here to enjoy the store and find some cool knick knacks at reasonable prices. We had our eyes set on neat desk top drum set. A decent price, a little bit of tourist inflation but we were going to get it anyways because she thought it was great. What ended up happening was as we were looking at said item a man came up to and very abruptly and rudely demanded that my girlfriend open her purse. When we asked why he just repeated himself. Hesitently she opened her purse to this strange man with a name badge, where in he demanded that she take all the items out. Only after he was satisfied did he say he was the manager and just wanted to make sure we weren't stealing anything. Needless to say we left immediately afterwards and did not but the item. Extremely rude, did not even tell us who he was at first, and basically violated our privacy. Sure they have some cool stuff, but unless you want to deal with staff like this I would avoid this stop. SOLD ME COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT. Purchased Cards Against humanity from this store. Once I opened it and started playing I realized half the cards are spelled wrong. I researched the product and it came to my attention they sold me a counterfeit product. I contacted them in regards to this situation and the woman who answered the phone talked to her manager and insisted it was real. Ignoring the obvious facts that it is not. I would have given this a 5 star but the followup experience was awful. My family and I visited the store while vacationing last summer. I bought a knick knack from the shelf and when I went to pay the cashier said she had one already boxed for shipping and to take that one. So I did. It was all taped up with the correct coding on the box. So I didn't think much of it. Then when I got home and unwrapped it of course it was the wrong item in the box. I contacted the email on the business card and told them of the mix up. They were very prompt to respond and offerred to send me the corrected item for free and I could keep the wrong sign. That was December 7, 2016. I have never received the corrected item. I guess in a vacation town you do not need to rely on repeat customers. I will throw the card away to ensure I do not visit again next time I go. Just a warning to all you visitors, check your packages carefully before you leave. read more

Picked it up nothing broken or chipped. No harm. No foul right? Wrong! The girl comes over tells me I chipped one from another shelf. Huh?! So she proceeds to tell me she broke two herself the day before. And had to pay for them. She tells me I have to pay for this cup now. So the one that I knocked off the shelf was tall.
