A Warm Welcome to Baddeck - We'll Be Back!…read more After six mornings of B&B/hotel breakfasts on our Nova Scotia stay, we were happy to choose a self-catering option in Baddeck, giving us the flexibility to eat on our own schedule and grab a bite to eat in the town. Willie's The Worn Doorstep was just what we wanted, and then more. Our suite was more of an apartment with the choice of two queen beds, a fairly large living room area with a kitchenette and verandah. Our room faced away from the street, and it was quiet with no traffic noise.The suite was clean, bright, nicely furnished, with comfortable beds, and a short stroll into town, making it an easy recommendation for others. We also sat upstairs on the roof deck, to enjoy the July weather and the views. But what made The Worn Doorstep an extra special stay for us was the kindness and hospitality of Willie and Gina. We were given a warm Scottish welcome (genuine - Willie is a Glaswegian, transplanted to Canada many years ago). Willie was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Baddeck, gave lots of advice when we asked for local information, and shared many entertaining and interesting stories. Will return for more!

It also had a great view from our window. The bed was very comfortable. The gas fireplace was a nice touch on the cooler evening. With the Romantic Package came dinner. Our gourmet 5 course dinner by Chef Rod was delicious. While each course was wonderful, the star of the meal was the lobster papparedelle dish! The lobster was so tender with a touch of sweetness. I still think about the meal! I highly recommend doing dinner at the cottage. Our seafood picnic for lunch was awesome. Lobster, shrimp, crab, lox, salad and a baguette. Yummy and very filling for our day of hiking. It also came packed in a backpack cooler so you could take it to go. The afternoon snack was also very tasty and a nice perk when coming back. Lynn and Rod were wonderful hosts. They are friendly, helpful and great people. They also went above and beyond. I only wish that we had more time to enjoy the cottage and property. I highly recommend staying here. When we come back to Cape Breton Island, I know that we will be staying here.

It was the first…read morebuilding to have electricity on Cape Breton Island and was originally a woolen mill and lumber mill. In its quiet setting, the grounds are lush with flowers and woods surround the property. Several running farms with grazing livestock are the nearest neighbors. Alan and Ester Finley couldn't be more welcoming and accommodating. We were asked for specific requests the night before breakfast was served. Homemade muffins and bread, well-seasoned egg dishes, and fresh fruit were enjoyed by all the inn visitors each morning. The rooms and living room are very clean and tastefully decorated. There are also plenty of reading materials and a piano for guests. It's a wonderful place to enjoy the music of Mabou and the golf and beach in Inverness. I highly recommend The Inn at Glendyer.

You can hear the waves crashing on the beach from your living room. I fell in love with this place. It was bigger then my home and it came with beach front what else could anyone expect for 135 a night. Off season. A perfect vacation. They only have one moonbeamer so reserve it. The rest are all family units cost more have an extra bedroom minus the Jacuzzi.

Beautiful decor, large immaculately clean ensuite bathroom, lots of big windows overlooking the property and giving plenty of light, gorgeous common rooms and a huge back deck were wonderful features found here. We didn't have dinner, but the dinning room is a restaurant open to the public and featured an elegant menu. Right adjacent there is a little bar area where you can purchase an evening drink to help you unwind. Breakfast was served in the dinning area at individual tables (seating a max of 4). We helped ourselves to some yogurt, fruit, juice and cereals at the side board and were then served a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon & toast. Everyone on staff was friendly and accomodating, what a lovely stay we had.
