I showed him the issues I was having with a toilet and two sinks, and he carefully explained what was going on in a way that made complete sense. He stepped back out to his van to coordinate with Laura on pricing, and within minutes had clear, straightforward options with numbers for me on how we could approach the problems. The pricing was very reasonable, and they even offered bundling discounts, which made it an incredible value! (Especially for the level of professionalism and quality service they provide.) Needed a Cartridge replacement for a Shower & Tub combo. They wanted to charge the $645 for the…read morerepair, which seemed extremely high for what appears to be a relatively straightforward job. After researching the part online, I found the replacement cartridge available for less than $75. It appears to be a 30-minute job. I asked the supervisor for a breakdown of the cost between labor and material. He said that they don't give a breakdown. They appear to be hiding their labor cost, which seems to be very high. I wouldn't let the technician do the job and pay an $80 fee for the visit.

He briefly touched the faucet handle and tapped the wall, then asked to inspect the plumbing from the basement. After glancing at the water lines leading to the bathroom, he informed me he'd step out to his vehicle to "write up a quote." About 20 minutes later, he returned with a legal pad and handed me a quote: approximately $1,700. The estimate included installation of shutoff valves in the basement -- completely unrelated to the original problem. Naturally, I declined and asked if he was going to address the leaking faucet, since that was the purpose of my call and I needed to resume my day. His response? "That's my quote. That's what I see needs to be done." At that point, I politely asked him to leave. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was furious -- not only did he refuse to address the issue I called about, but he did so with an arrogant tone. I will never use Standard Heating, Cooling & Plumbing again, and I'll make sure others are equally informed. And yes, I still had to pay the $80.00 visit fee, despite the fact that he tried to inflate a minor repair into a major project I didn't ask for or need. I couldn't help but think: if I were a senior citizen, he might've had a field day. That's unacceptable.
