I really wanted to like this place. It's a local place and not a chain, but I just couldn't. My husband and I were seated and waited almost 15 minutes before someone came over and asked if we had been helped. The waitress came over and took our drink orders. Our Coke's were served in plastic cups. This is a bar, isn't it?? Where is the glassware? We ordered Luigi Rolls for an appetizer. They came out quickly and were red hot. The flavor was pretty good. I never really felt like I got the flavor of chicken in them, as advertised. I did taste some pesto though. Since we've never been here before, we decided to share two entrees. I ordered the Billington Burger and my husband ordered the Capicola pizza. The burger was supposed to have bacon, cheese and a fried egg. It had one slice of bacon folded over. One slice! I'm only sorry I didn't take a picture. This burger was tasteless. Considering I had beef, cheese, bacon and an egg, I still needed to add a salt. The beef was tasteless. Even the bacon was bland. Maybe a better quality should be used. The only distinctive flavor I had was from the almost burnt bun the burger was served on. I had the cheezy grits as a side. Nothing to rave about, but not bad either. The pizza was limp. It's nice to have ham, bacon, caramelized onion and cheese on a pizza if the crust can handle it. When you picked up a slice, the first few inches of the toppings all fell off. Although the ham had flavor, this too was also taken over by the flavor of the burnt crust. I see the need to turnover an order, but using a higher flame does not guarantee a quality product. I would not come here again. The service was just ok, as other people were visibly seen waving their hands trying to get a waitress to come to their table for service only to be asked, has anyone been over to you yet? I could make a better hamburger and pizza at home. read more

We were actually heading to Ginger and were disappointed that they were closed for some much needed renovation when I looked down 2nd Street to discover that the Bearfoot Tavern had relocated just a couple of stores down. Wow! It was really great with a fantastic menu and unique ambiance. My wife got The Rufus burger and she really enjoyed it. I had the bratwurst with peppers and onions; man, it was fantastic. The service here was fantastic. We were on a long road trip from Florida to Ohio and needed dinner. We got off the highway and went to Bearfoot Tavern. I ordered a started salad and asked for no cheese. The salad came out and it had cheese on it. That was no big deal, it was a salad, I can work around it. Our waitress, Rachael G. from the receipt, was walking past on her way to another table and noticed out of the corner of her eye that my salad had cheese. She stopped and said that it wasn't right and she would get me a new one. I told her I didn't think it was a big deal, but she insisted on making it right and brought me a new one. A lot of places would have just let it go, but she didn't. If I am ever back through this way, I will definitely stop here again. read more

Had wonderful service and loved sitting at the very 20's inspired bar area. Note to out of towners - they cannot serve alcohol until after 12:30. They have great bottomless mimosas and the truffle fries are a must! We stayed there for a few hours and the bartender was friendly and served us the entire time we were there even with the bottomless mimosas. He made sure we had drinks filled the entire time as he was making everyone else drinks. read more

I liked the old Bearfoot but love the new one even more. Maybe since I've gotten older I enjoy flavorful beer instead of whatever is the cheapest draft is a place has. Not that the old beer menu was bad but the old location definitely geared itself for a college crowd. Their beer selection is craft both from local breweries as well as the bigger national craft breweries. The beer prices are affordable as well (a pint of the craft stuff is between five and six bucks). The food has also be given a reboot for a higher quality meal. The AJ Battle and the Rufus are both excellent burgers, the AJ is a turkey burger served on Texas Toast and the Rufus is a burger with cheese, BBQ sauce, onion straws, bacon and caramelized onions. The burgers can be a bit pricey going from nine bucks all the way up to $15.50 for one option. The bar area is nice with knowledgeable barkeeps and plenty of t.v.s for watching sports. Some of the seating in the dining area can be a little cramped but if you get seated at the double booth tables there is plenty of space. There are a few t.v.s in the dining area as well. The best part of this location, to me, is the beer garden out back with a stage for live music to boot. Whenever were at Bearfoot and the weather allows it we sit out back in the beer garden. read more

Myself and two friends went for brunch yesterday. Our waitress Tuesday was amazing!!! I enjoyed the bacon pimento fritter and Mimosa's. One of my friends and I ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken had no flavor, the waffle was falling apart and it was as flat as the plate. My friend did get her meal comped because she had only taken like one bite. I on the other hand just said I'll season my chicken and eat it when I get home. My other friend had a chicken biscuit and gravy. The gravy was hard as a rock. And her chicken was unseasoned as well. Went here yesterday after work for a drink and some grub. It was my first time at the restaurant and I loved the look and vibe of the place. The service was excellent! I ordered the fish and chips. The fish needed salt, but was deliciously cooked. I got the truffle parm fries instead of the home fries and they were excellent. My companion ordered the three little piggies pizza. We had no idea how BIG that thing was going to be! I tasted it and it was excellent! The crust was thin (the way I like it) and the sauce was delicious and fresh-tasting. Had a pleasant experience at the Bearfoot Tavern tonight. I had the salmon salad and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Although the garbanzo beans left a bit to be desired. And the dressing wasn't anything special. My friend had the Irish stew, and that was amazing! Price wise it could have been better. We had the shrimp skewers as a appetizer but we should have looked at the cost. Seriously... 8 shrimp a tad overcooked for $18 was unreal. Other than that... the waiter was nice, attentive, and did a good job recommending items. Although with the prices I may not go back... unless it's for that Irish Stew! read more

My husband and I stopped for lunch on our way home to Birmingham from Savannah. We both got burgers, which were very good. My favorite was the truffle Parmesan fries. Our waiter was very attentive and service was prompt. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves! The atmosphere was also nice. I loved the ornate wood work on the booths. Good selection of craft beer as well, which made him happy. Prices were in line with a gastropub, a little cheaper than Birmingham which was awesome. We came to Macon to see a band at the Cox, and wanted to get some snacks. We came in through the back and went to the hostess and told her we wanted to get a table for 4, would prefer inside. We went to the bar and got beers, GREAT service at the bar! Then we noticed a table out in front of the restaurant. It was a little chilly so not many people were sitting out back, or out front. The back had heaters and we thought there might be a heater out front, there wasn't. My girlfriend walked back in and told the hostess that we would like to sit out back under the heaters, hostess said Ok, and then proceeded to roll her eyes visibly to everyone standing inside in line, and made a comment to some of them. I walked past her and let her know that she should be careful doing things like that because you never know who is watching. She gave me a nasty look and said "whatever, enjoy your night" I told her I would be speaking to the manager and she said "go ahead, I will send him to your table". I found the manager, told him what happened, he apologized and said he will talk to her. We sat outside, Shelby approached us, took our orders for food and it came out pretty quick. We were just snacking, my husband and I ordered the truffle fries which were soggy like they had been sitting in the fry bin for a while and the spring rolls, which were good, but by definition were not spring rolls, they were egg rolls. Our friends had tater tots with everything on them, those were delicious! Shelby was awesome and very attentive, but I don't think any of us will be back. Stopped in for lunch today with a group of six without a reservation. The staff quickly put together a table and sat us. Great service all around. The food was fantastic. Everybody in our group was wowed by their lunch. I had the pickle bribed chicken sandwich. It was wonderful. The Mac n cheese was wonderful as well. We were looking for a pet friendly place to have dinner and found this place on Bring Fido and couldn't be more pleased. Although the entire beer garden was booked for a private event there were a couple of umbrella covered tables our front. The bartender came out and acted as our waitress, offered to bring a bowl of water for the dog and brought ice waters to back up our beers without being asked. There is a large selection of beers at this Gastropub including lagers, IPAs, ales and craft beers from around the country as well as old favorites. The pimiento & cheese ball appetizers are special. I had mushroom meatloaf with cavatappi macaroni & cheese which was delicious and bread pudding to take home. The service was polite, the prices on point and even the music was perfect. Ate here yesterday and I could not have enjoyed myself more. The Burger I had was exquisite, appropriately priced, and the wait time for it was surprisingly short (considering we were a party of 8). We also tried a few appetizers, and it was definitely worth it. The fried Pimento Cheese and Bacon Fritters were phenomenal, and the sweet Thai dipping sauce they came with complemented them perfectly. The beer battered fried sausages and the spring rolls we also ordered weren't quite as good as the fritters, but they were delicious in their own right. So many things to love about this place! Amazing selection of craft beers given they have such a wide variety of awesome food (you typically find find both at brew pubs). The atmosphere is nicer than an average bar but not so fancy that you consider it an upscale restaurant. High recommend the pizza, burgers, pizza but most importantly the Parmesan truffle fries!! The last five times I've been here they have been out of every beer I asked for off the menu. I feel the beer menu is an act. Great place if you want yeungling or bud. I really wanted to love this place. The old Barefoot was mediocre (food & service), but we accepted it for what it is - a college bar with cheap beer and cheap bar food. Of course, we had higher hopes before our first visit to the new location. Like, they put all this effort into a new location and décor, they had to put as much effort into their food & service right?? Well, we ordered the fish and chips - which basically came out looking like a kids platter with fish sticks, def not worth the $$, so we sent it back. Even more disappointing: we watched as the waitress brought the owner our 'fish & chips' back and instead of coming over as a REAL owner/manager would, he proceeded to mean-mug us the rest of our time there. Yes - the owner made eye contact with my husband and I and gave us an eat shit look instead of walking over and asking how everything was. I will say the service we got from our waitress was good and I felt bad that the owner put the duty of tending to our complaints on her. I might end up here on a drunken night to get some drinks and wings, but outside of that, I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more
