Excellent!! definitely a hidden gem you must find. Don't let the location next to Goodwill fool you. We will return again soon!

Excellent restaurant ran by Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts. The chefs in training prepare a gourmet meal. Seriously our meal tasted on the level of a finer restaurant. The portions were definitely more than enough. Started with a Butter Bibb Salad with shrimp and a lemon basil green gremolota. The ribeye steaks were at least 16 ounces and quality meat. For me enough leftover for a couple of meals. They were cooked just as requested and very tender. The green beans were blanched and cooked with just the right crisp crunch. Hubby had peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert. I took a bite and it was fabulous! Finding this place was like finding a precious and rare gem. Total bill for 2 people was $38.00. A meal elsewhere of this quality would have cost at least twice this amount. Excellent job! It is located on Eisenhower in the same area of the Goodwill. But don't let that stop you from coming. Decor is beautiful, inviting and very nice jazz playing quietly. Not too loud for a conversation.

    Hidden gem!

Here for work at the convention center and all the restaurants in the area are all chains and this little gem surpassed my appetite for great food and service. Mark is the host with the most and Chef Gerard didn't disappoint with the pork chop entree I had and steak entree my co worker had. Insanely good and I advise anyone here for business to try it you won't be disappointed!

My first and only yelp review: Edgar's is Fantastic! It's part of the Helm's Cullinary college which is linked to Goodwill so important social mission in addition to great food. No wait, not crowded, fancy in a kind of elementary way so anything goes. Excellent service and the gnocchi and asparagus fries are amazing although the menu changes!

Stopped in here after heavy rain on the highway. Really great food and the service is awesome. I would come a lot more if I lived locally.

I ordered all vegetable sides. My meal came with a hoecake, dessert, and a beverage. All for under $11. It's a little more if you get a meat dish, but I don't think it's much more. Let's first talk about the food. Hands down the best mac 'n cheese I've had in Macon. It's creamy and not overly greasy and doesn't feel like it's been sitting for hours in a warming tray. The butter beans were perfectly seasoned with just a hint of smoke flavor, not mushy, not greasy, perfection. The collards were also perfect. It had visible pieces of pork, wasn't overcooked, and the juice was just right - not too salty and not sweet. I'm not much of a dessert person, so probably didn't enjoy the banana pudding as much as most would have, but it was very good. And the best part? You can eat as much as you like! Let me move on to service. My server, and I wish I had asked her name, kindly came to check on me to see if I wanted seconds in anything. Yes, you heard me right! If you're still hungry, they will bring you more of whatever you want. I don't know if that's true of the meats, since I didn't get any, but definitely the sides. My server was the nicest woman. Attentive, but not hovering. She enjoyed hearing how much I liked the food and I really enjoyed our interactions. Every single person there was smiling and kind and I felt like I was having lunch in a friend's dining room. Even the chef, Christine Jackson, stopped by my table to say hello and see how I was doing. Finally, the ambiance. The restaurant itself is bare bones and a little run down, although it's obvious there was care put into it - there are table linens and centerpieces on the tables and the place is clean - they just earned a health score of 95, so no worries there. But this is not fine dining or a place for a dinner date and I absolutely loved the homey vibe. You can always get your meal to go, but then you will miss out on having seconds of that yummy food. We need to support our local businesses! Please show up for Suther'n Folke Kitchen. You'll be glad you did.

You definitely feel the love with their servers. Extensive menu knowledge and very service oriented they aim to give you the best experience possible. So after a tasty cocktail and a very nice charcuterie board I went with the Crab and Panko Crusted Cod. Oh my goodness what a delicious entrée. A tasty crusted outside and so tender inside. And that lemon and miso creamed kale topped it all off. Definitely a place to try when in Macon. The only draw back is that it's up stairs on the 2nd floor with no elevator.

It was a very basic boring salad with a frozen piece of salmon for $20. My husband ordered a burger & fries. The burger was really good & he got goat cheese & bacon on it. The fries on the other hand were not it. Bummer because they are supposedly hand cut. They were drenched in oil. Like to the point that you couldn't even eat a few without feeling awful. They were soggy & heavy. Think homemade fries but in a super old fryer with lots of crisco. Overall very underwhelming for a place with such high reviews. Won't be back!
