One of the worst dining experiences I've had. First they forgot to put the food ticket in (of course cut them a break because I've served before). Medium burger came out almost rare and the fries were cold. Sent the burger back and they MICROWAVED IT. Server delivered it and said its more on the well done side.. When I cut the burger open again it was still on the rare side. I asked for warm fries. Never got them. Never got refills on water. Also, my husband's burger came with half the toppings listed on the menu (missing cheese and bacon) and cold macaroni and cheese. Awesome place, my second time eating here. Nice decor that looks a little fancy but with ample TV's for sports. Nice small outdoor area with stage. Server Kayla was terrific and all dishes were great from country fried steak to pulled pork pizza to burgers and spring rolls. Probably the best cheese grits I've ever had. I got a Greek Salad and the bottomless mimosas. Typically I am hesitant to order "bottomless" beverages because often the waiter brings refills slower than I down them and I never feel like I get my money's worth. Not so at this place! The waitress refilled my cup with generous portions three times and it was well worth the $9.99. My salad was topped with homemade croutons that were baked to slightly-crispy perfection, and the salad was large enough to keep me full for hours and hours. The outdoor seating in the front is a great spot to people watch in downtown Macon and the inside looked nice as well. Plus, the bathroom was super clean! Went here for brunch with my dad and husband. We all got chicken entrees, but they both had fried chicken that was frighteningly pink. Orders were sent back and fixed pretty quickly. Maybe the food staff were hungover. The batter for the fried chicken was also not very adhesive; loose and a bit soggy. The server was nice, and a good selection of beers. We came here for St. Patrick's Day and I really enjoyed the vibe. There's a nice outdoor patio and the indoor dining room retains the charm of the historic building. The food didn't blow me away but it was good, as was the service. I would certainly pay them another visit when in Macon. read more

Always good food and lots of drink options. They have TVs all through out the restaurant. Which is really nice, so you can pick and choose which game you want to see. When the weather is nice, they have a Biergarten area in back, which is a great area to eat. I saw a stage out their as well, so I assume they have live music. Call and see more details. read more

Just moved to Macon as part of Mercer University and stopped in for lunch. Sat at the big windows looking out and we had fish tacos and southern fried chicken sandwich. Both were great. Cool place, friendly wait staff and nice clientele. We will be back! read more

We had a party of 12 on a Friday night and I can't think anyway Bearfoot Tavern could have been any more accommodating, and spot on with the service. First off, some of our party got there late but they worked to save us a place to all sit. When we all got there, we were sat immediately. Waters appeared in a minute with menus. Hanna took care of us and her and others made sure the evening went well. They all could tell we were in for the long haul and treated us fine. No pressure to leave which was more than gracious. Food , including appetizers were served promptly and all piping hot which for 12 is not easy. They kept us with us , getting drinks and deserts as needed. Again, Thanks. read more

I really liked this place when it first opened but I like it less and less as time goes on. I ordered a burger well done on one of my most recent visits. I bit into it and it was completely red so I sent it back. I got it back and cut into it first, only to find that it was still completely red. By this time most of my friends were halfway through their meal, so I just sent it back and purchased food elsewhere. I love the chopped salad with salmon but the piece of salmon on top has gotten significantly smaller every time I go and can be super salty. On another awkward note, on my last visit a few months ago I met some friends in the bar for a few drinks after dinner one night. When my bill came, I was overcharged and mentioned the issue to the bartender. He replied back that they were increasing their beer prices and the menus hadn't been updated, but said he would fix the price. When he came back with my new bill, he said they were raising prices to help keep the "wrong people from coming in" (or something along those lines). My friends and I all thought this was a super weird and unneeded comment that left us feeling really uncomfortable. read more

I'm updating my review because every time I come this place just gets better. I went a few days ago and they had updated the menu with vegetarian options (def try the vegetarian pizza) and a super tasty chicken pasta with pesto in it! The beer selection is tremendous-50 beer on tap! And our very knowledgeable server told us about 80% are from Georgia breweries. The bread pudding is to die for. Every time we go they have an awesome special. Every server we've had is attentive and helpful. And management almost always stops by to check on us. I always recommend the bacon pimento fritters with pepper jelly! They're to die for! And my absolute favorite burger is the JL Dagg. Found out barefoot tavern has new owners....and it looks like they are going to fall flat on their faces....cutting the quality of food... Guess what I gave you a second chance....this is what happened... I tried to send the following message on the barefoot website...would not allow me...so here it is ....Had dinner last night,hugely disappointed....firstly...your online menu has changed from your printed menu in your restaurant. Secondly...the service was far from good...had Sam, she didn't seem interested in taking care of anyone. I had a black guy working the kitchen come over and ask if I had been waited on. Thirdly, with menu changes...you don't have what you use to have...the hamburger,the mercer..I have had before...was not the same ..that hamburger patty was 1/4 inch thick...NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. No potatoe pedals,no sweet potato fries... I'm not sure who change the menu,or who's cutting down on the meat...but and mark my words...if you ain't careful...you will lose business...and don't say the word covid....has not one thing to do with it. I spent $21.00 last night ....my fault...it will be a while before I do it again. Poor service,lack of service, poor food...what has happened... Barefoot Tavern is a trendy restaurant and bar downtown. I've tried several items from the menu and never "loved" anything. The pizza was my favorite. The best part of Barefoot is the outside stage with live entertainment. It's a really fun space to take friends and have a drink. read more

Come for the bar, stay ONLY for the bar. For the bar I'd give 4 to 5 stars. Superb beer selection, albeit a touch expensive. Decent mixed drinks. We made a mistake to travel an hour each direction for the pizza, only to find the one guy who made pizza had taken the afternoon off. Then, they were out of a few of the beers that we ordered, and that took them 20 minutes to tell us... We ordered hamburgers and the pimento cheese fritters as a starter. The fritters were good, but there were only 3 total (for $7). For pimento cheese? The burgers were, at best, below average. The french fries are WAY over-stylized. 1 beer for me, 1 margarita for the wife, each had a burger and fries, and the appetizer. $50 before tip. If we ever come back, it will be for the beer selection at the bar. read more

My dad and brother came in from Tennessee to visit me and I wanted to take them to bearfoot because the atmosphere , food, and beer is great . However, I was told it would be a 25 minute wait which was no problem . We each grabbed a drink from the bar and after 30 minutes I noticed 3 girls and a guy come in and get seated immediately . I then looked around and saw a few empty tables and there was literally no one else waiting to be seated . This prompted me to ask how much longer and the guy told me it was extended for another hour . We cashed out and went to the rookery which is always great. This was my first time eating at the bearfoot tavern. I will definitely go back soon. The starter shrimp was tasty and tangy! I had the fish tacos which were delicious. And for dessert, the bread pudding was the best I have ever had! The beer was great, too! I didn't even get to try the food. When we arrived as a party of two, the host said "the wait shouldn't be too long." Then about 20 min later he comes over to the couple sitting next to us to let them know the wait was going to be an hr now as the kitchen was behind. He didn't even acknowledge us, but we had overheard him thankfully. So we left. Brunswick stew! Being from New York I am not familiar with the local dinner time favorite Brunswick Stew, but after the bartender suggested it I decided to give it a shot. It knocked my socks off. Simple but delicious. Aside from that the beer selection is awesome. Plenty of local brews to wet your whistle. Not to mention the whiskey Wednesday special. The only downfall to this place is that it's in this town I will probably never come to again. I wish they had something like this in NYC. Next time I'm in the Georgia I will come back.
