This review is for a wedding reception/catering. We attended a wedding here for some friends. The day was unusually windy and cold. The ceremony took place outside but we got through it. Next came cocktail hour which again was held outside. This was a shame as we really had a hard time enjoying the little bites and drinks since it was so windy. It would have been nice to have a separate room where we all could have waited until they were ready for us to enter the reception. This space does not appear to be very large, indoor space is limited. The reception was lovely but the food was kinda meh as you will find at most wedding receptions. The dance floor was ample and everyone had a good time. Staff was nice and helpful. Location is in Summerlin and views are lovely from the golf course. read more

A golf course to add to your bucket list. The website states that Jack Nicklaus (the Bear) hand selected 18 holes out of the many he designed worldwide. Located in Summerlin in northwest Las Vegas, you get awesome views of the Las Vegas strip. The service was excellent. The practice facility I felt was top-notch. The driving range was mats only, but the mats were in good condition. The course itself was in good shape. The greens were challenging with different elevation and difficult pin placement. Playing a golf course where all the holes are based on the best holes that were created by Jack Nicklaus is amazing. I honestly had a good time and the course has its challenges. The course was in very good condition and the pae of play was quite good as the course was twisting through this Summerlin neighborhood. The green fee of $179 is perfectly reasonable. I do recommend it to anyone. A number of holes were from his courses in Palm Springs which I have played myself. I will be back there whenever there is an opportunity. read more

From the time I arrived till I left after my round it was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pro shop staff were great and AJ the starter was awesome. The course was in great shape, and we had a great round. Great track, good food. This is a ClubCorp course but is open to the public in Vegas. They take very good care of this place, have great service, and pace the course very, very well. I think we saw a ranger on every hole. Course was wonderful shape, really fun to play and quite challenging. Is it worth $200 a round? Probably not but you're in Vegas and that's how it goes! Would definitely go back at a lower rate. read more

This Jack Nicklaus course is tucked against the red rocks in Summerlin on the west side of Las Vegas. The course is kept in amazing condition. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were cold and the views of both luxury Hones and the valley and strip are great! The golf carts have both GPS as well as built in speakers. After numerous rounds sponsored by work vendors throughout the years, it's time to give some props to a well kept course. Holes are modeled after famous holes from Jack Nicklaus (The Golden Bear) designed courses. Numerous tee boxes keep the course challenging for all skill levels via length. The tee boxes have always been in good shape with plenty of grass. The fairways are trimmed well and have never been spotty. The greens are rolled well, pretty fast but roll true. Rough isn't anything too punishing and will be pretty easy for low handicap golfers. (which is not me, but I watch my golfer friends hit out with ease) There are million dollar custom homes that surround the golf course and you get some nice views of the city from a distance Service has always been top notch all around. From bag drop off, checking in and the cart girls on the course, everyone is friendly and works with a professional sense of urgency. The golf carts are GPS equipped with monitors to help gauge your distance throughout the round. Overall, this is a track that probably doesn't get a lot of play because of locations and possibly price depending on the season. With that, I've gotten through my rounds quickly without traffic jams and the course is always in better shape. I'll definitely be back in the near future. Hit em straight! =) read more

Working with Brittany, Ed, and Tina for our wedding at Bear's Best was an absolute dream. When we were picking venues, Tina was straight forward with us about what the venue could accommodate size and vendor-wise, which was very much appreciated. We were very much won over by the drop dead gorgeous desert aesthetic of the place and the versatile outdoor spaces. And after we picked Bear's Best, Brittany was there every step of the way. She was extremely responsive to all of our questions, and did such a great job letting us know what we had to do and when. I saw just how great Brittany was at her job during our tasting when she broke down what the rest of the process would look like in painstaking detail to make sure we were thinking about everything that we needed to. As far as the day of the wedding, I knew that we had nothing to worry about with Brittany and Ed in charge. They made sure everything ran smooth as silk despite less than ideal weather. And Ed made sure that my groom and I ate and drank plenty! And the food was great. As a couple with severe food allergies (I'm celiac and my husband is allergic to tree nuts and shellfish), we were very impressed with how attentive Bear's Best was to the allergies of us and our guests. The vendors we used through Bear's Best were all excellent. We hired a band instead of using a DJ and had our own officiant, but otherwise we used the Bear's Best recommended vendors and had great experiences with all of them. Having them lined up was very convenient since we live out of town. Overall, we had a great experience from top to bottom. OK, so I just played Bear's best on 11/27/24. The course was amazing, however, the staff need to be trained a little better. Upon completion of play, I tipped the club attendant and he totally forgot to clean my clubs. Obviously, he still didn't get it as I asked him for his towel so that I can clean my own clubs. Paying 170 a round you would expect a little better service.. very disappointing to say the least. read more

Track is nice and great lay out. Although a lot of burnt spots during the summer. Greens were very slow. I was hoping for more tour experience since it being Jack's course. Outside service people were great but the inside service/pro shop who books the tee times, very rude and unprofessional. They made a miscommunication to me on the phone and didn't fess up to it. Half the experience of a place is how you're treated so only 3 stars for Vegas course. Paying costumers deserve better. read more

Bear's Best is a Jack Nickolas Architected course composing of Jack's best 18 holes. It features a resort feel with a golf shop , restaurant , and bar. The course is surrounded by luxury gated communities of the rich and famous. I compare this course with top resort courses like Pinehurst even though it does not have hotel accommodations. I rated it as 3 star. The course is challenging and the service fair to good. At $250 the fairways and greens were not at this level. I did not find the help there very friendly. For example, a shoe bounced out of my bag and I wanted to leave my name and number if a player found it. No help. Pace of play is an issue. Expected 4 hours and 20 minutes the foursome in front did not play ready golf. Two of the players would spend forever on the greens only to miss putts . So, my day was longer. I understand this is typical "I spent 250 bucks I am going to get my monies worth!" Overall it was a very playable course with nice amenities but I have played other luxury courses in Vegas that have much better playing conditions and friendly staff for less. I would rate the value about a 3 overall. There are so many other courses for the out of Towners to play that this might be lower on your list. read more

Just had a wedding here and everything was awesome however it's crazy how one employee can ruin an experience. There is a worker named Brian who is BALD had his ear phones in while cleaning up at the end of the wedding. I was looking for something that was lost and was trying to get his attention however he could not hear me. I had to waive my hands to get his attention and he was very rude saying "Jesus Christ!" like I bothered him so much. read more

Used to be a great track to play but now focused on price gouging. New management doesn't care about locals. Focused on inflated tourist pricing now. Much better tracks and service in town that don't stick it to locals and tourists. Course is surrounded by million dollar homes and you have to use a porta potty. Review for restaurant only: In my quest to try different spots for breakfast, I've started hitting local golf clubs that are open to the public. Bear's Best is only about 2 miles from where I live, so this was a no brainer for breakfast before going to the Great Las Vegas Santa Run 2011. I'd give this restaurant 3 stars, but a few things tipped the balance to 4. The menu is small--5 items. I ordered the breakfast burrito, a nice sized burrito with scrambled eggs, ham, peppers, and home fries. It was served with fire roasted salsa that was tasty but mild. They did have tabasco on the table, but that's not for me for a burrito. The food was very hot, the service was very, very prompt, and the server was just a delight. She had a pleasant attitude. I chuckled with her when the guy before me walked away with his coffee with shot of Bailey's Irish Cream and brandy. The wind and cold wasn't going to bother this guy! I'll come back for lunch sometime when it's warm and I can enjoy the food and the view of Blue Diamond Hill from the patio. Damn, I just wish they'd let me ride the cart path on my bike. This is a golf course where almost each hole is challenging, some more than others. Great scenery. Great service too including from the beverage girls. Set among multi million dollars homes, with a far off view of the Las Vegas strip. Cars do drive through but yield to golf carts. Played a tournament here and one of our players hit a hole in one on hole 7 (par 3). Bring your best game, you may need it! read more

Played in a two day tournament, and this course was day one. Pulled in and immediately greeted and got our bags fully situated on the carts. Practice area was very nice with the pyramid ball stacks. Course was in a pristine condition, but the temperature was nit cooperating with us. Started off around mid to high 80s but fan you,to 108 within a coupe hours. Tried to keep hydrated but was in the loosing end. Almost had to quit, but bear through it. Shot a bad round, but it's not any fault of the course. Greens were rolling true, but not on the fast side. Fairways were amazing and lush. Would love to come back in cooler weather to enjoy this course again. read more

My best friend got married here last night and it was a beautiful, wonderful experience. For the few moments where I was working with Tina, she was amazing! The real star of the show here is ED. Ed deserves like 30 stars. Anything that we needed, Ed was there within seconds, minutes. He knew what we needed without having to ask. He was there the whole day. Literally THE WHOLE DAY. When we were getting ready and even until the end of the night helping out. I was literally the last guest to leave (MOH duties) and i even saw him helping clean in the kitchen. He refilled my rose all day throughout the night without me having to ask and I didn't even need to go to the bartender practically (even though Kirby was just as amazing!). Every single establishment needs an Ed but then again, that's why the night was so special. When and if I get married, I will hire Ed. I can't even say enough good things about him because ugh. Ed, you are a rockstar and I will actually miss you. So thank you for being helpful with literally EVERYTHING. read more

You can't go wrong with a Jack Nicklaus designed course. He took some of the best designed holes around the US and Mexico and placed it in this special course. From the tips, it's a monster at 7194 total yards. From the green tees where the rest of the mortal souls play, it measures 6628 yards. For the most part, the course is in a great shape, including the greens. The greens weren't too fast for amateurs. From many of the holes, you can see the beautiful rock mountains, and even the strip. Scenic and challenging are the two words that describe this course. If you check their internet site the day before or even on the same day, there are special discounted prices for singles or two players. I played for $39 in the afternoon because the spot was open two hours before the tee time. Happy rounding~ read more

Attended a friends wedding at this this place, out of 110 people that attended 30 people got food poisoning. People came from Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, California, Canada, and Africa, this place as the nerve to say that everyone come with a bug from the home location!!!???? 30% of the guest just happen to all meet here with the same stomach bug? Tourists and locals beware - I'd really like to write a glowing review of Bear's Best. Perhaps in the past I would have written one, but something there has changed. I checked my GolfLogix account and I played 13 times at Bear's Best in 2016, and up until March I had played three times in 2017. I won't be going back. I brought two friends from out of town to Bear's Best on March 12th, who knew they would pay full price, $204. Mind you, this is more than the rack rate at Wolf Creek in Mesquite, which is by far a much nicer course. They also brought 3 parmates with them, and paid the full rider fare for each of them. I showed my local ID, then my casino employee ID, and they told me I had to pay full price. The local rate on this day was $89. I asked to speak with a manager, and the clerk told me the best that he could do was offer a rate of $149, which I paid. I gave him my business card and asked to have a manger contact me - one month later I am still waiting for a call. So, we played golf. I'm not sure what happened to the course, but it was in terrible shape. Everyone who played that day deserved a cut rate - the greens were sandy and aerated, the tee boxes were unmowed, and the fairways were brown all over. This is not the Bear's Best that I know. It's usually in great shape, which is why I recommended the course to my friends. They were not happy with me, and certainly not happy paying over $200 per person for a course in this shape. With so many other great options in town for less money (TPC Las Vegas, Bali Hai, Reflection Bay, etc), and with such a bad attitude towards tourists and locals alike, I don't see a reason to go back. read more

What can I say....I love this course! It is a collection of 18 of Jack Nicklaus' favorite holes that he's designed. I've played on several of the original golf courses that he used to recreate the holes here and I can tell you that they are spot on! Besides the fact that you can see the Las Vegas Strip from the golf course, you feel like you are playing on the original hole! The course is tucked away in one of Las Vegas' most exclusive communities, The Ridges. It is always kept in spectacular shape and the staff who work here are friendly. I like how you hit off of grass in the driving range which gives you better feel during practice. During the recession there are tons of deals to be had here and and green fees are affordable. Our friends got married here a couple years ago, at this gorgeously green and lush golf course located not too far away from the 215 & Grand Canyon/Flamingo exit (ok, I lied, maybe a couple more miles away). Beautiful grounds. It was an outside wedding in May so the weather was nice. The grass was a little moist from watering though, so my heels sunk in a little walking to the archway decorated in ribbon. A temporary floor was laid down with white chairs. It was a nice ceremony. The couple disappeared to take more pictures- such scenic backdrops. (My husband was in the wedding party, so we had to get there early, for pre-wedding pictures but someone was late- don't remember who it was, though.) I remember being at a small room (lounge with bar) before the hall opened up for all of the guests. I remember seeing golfers walk in and out of the room. The hall was very nice- decorated in the couple's colors- brown and pink. The table with the signature memento (we all signed them), had jars complete with scoops, holding gummi bears, and assorted candy- with ribbon adorned paper sacks to fill- that was fun. The food was excellent. The fish was probably the best dish that night. The mix of cheeses with crackers and olives was a nice touch. The bartender was heavy handed and the mixed drinks were really strong! Many of the people I talked to about the drinks could not finish them- plus my husband got drunk real fast BTW. The DJ was fun- had a good mix of music, salsa for the Chilean half and pop/r&b for the other half (multi-ethnic union). Since there were lots of people from my husband's work, and I knew the families of both parties, I knew many of the guests. We were one of the last couples to leave the hall. It was a nice wedding, all in all. (I was happy to be dancing almost all night.) Last note: the ladies room had lockers to accommodate the wedding party- nice detail. read more

We played this course 5/11/2013 and it was great! Sweltering hot with not much of a breeze but the beverage cart girl made plenty of rounds! The staff at the clubhouse was great and the cooks at the outside grill made some delicious sandwiches. Also, the young guys taking care of the carts & clubs are very helpful. It's not too often you're met at your car within seconds and have everything carried out for you to the cart. Jack Nicklaus picked his favorite 18 holes and that's how this course got it's design. Some of the holes can be quite challenging but the fairways are generally very wide so they can be forgiving. The houses that are on the course are very nice & architecturally intriguing to look at. The carts all have GPS, which is nice because the yardage didn't always measure up. Since the course's elevation is a bit higher, the ball travels quite a ways and then rolled well on the firm fairways, which made it play shorter than the scorecard. Stay clear of the sandtrap on #18 -- it is unforgiving. Play safe and keep left! Ended the evening with a drink outside on the patio, as we watched a bride walk down the aisle in a sunset ceremony. I was very excited about playing golf here since its firmly entrenched in one of the more exclusive housing areas in Summerlin called The Ridges. I was here for a fundraiser so we played shotgun. The golf course is billed as Jack Nicklaus' best holes in one round. I can definitely see the potential but this time around, I don't think the potential was actualized. Granted it was over 100 degrees but the course was very dry and the greens spotty. It was definitely punched recently but wasn't healing as well as it should. Checked out the club house to see if there's anything to purchase but the guy working at the counter looked right at me then looked away. I do not expect to be pampered but a hello would be nice. Needless to say, I didn't buy anything. Again, every hole has the potential to be phenomenal with great views of all the beautiful homes as well as views of he strip on a couple of holes. Unfortunately, I think I caught it during a bad stretch. I will be back and re-review if I find the experience to be different. read more

Bear's Best - Golf Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

This was my first 6 hour round and at $175 per person seemed like a rip off. The marshalls didn't do anything but drive around. It is a nice course and beautiful neighborhood, but hard to overcome the frustration. When we complained after our round and asked for a shirt or hat, they offered only a free drink. Not even close to Spanish Trail. It had recently been reseeded and was very wet. The holes are interesting. The greens were in decent shape. It is a good drive from The Strip. It was very hot. You definitely felt like desert. The golf carts with the GPS are nice. Because of the reseeding it was cart path only. The practice area is ok. The starter Steve was by far the most helpful. There are many good choices in the Las Vegas area. My favorites are Badlands, Spanish Trail, Bali Hai and the Wynn course. If you can play this course in 4 hours 15 mins or less and be treated better then it is probably 3.5 stars read more
