We went on Travers Saturday morning. While I'm local, the town that weekend is not. It was rockin' but the long line moved very quickly. We got a couple pastries (choc croissant, bear claw, and coffee roll), the Pork Roll Egg n Cheese on a croissant and a bagel. The pastries are outstanding. The PREC was great and the best I've had outside of Jersey. My son liked the bagel. We didn't get drinks which looked great but definitely was making the wait time longer. Our food came out fast. The prices are outstandingly high. So not an every weekend kind of spot, but a once in a while treat. It was beautiful inside, with the doors open and breeze blowing in. I had been wanting to visit for a long time, and I finally got the chance. We ordered a flat white and a black tea, and both drinks were excellent. We also tried a bagel and a bagel sandwich, but unfortunately we didn't enjoy either of them and couldn't finish them. The main reason I came, though, was for the croissants. We ordered the plain, the banana hazelnut, and the spinach & feta croissants, and they were all delicious. The spinach & feta croissant completely won us over--it was everyone's favorite. I absolutely loved the banana hazelnut one as well. In fact, I ended up ordering extra of both to take home! My son also had the blueberry muffin. It was good, but I've had similar blueberry muffins at many other cafés. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's such a cozy place to sit with a coffee and catch up with friends or spend quality time with your family. We stopped by after my son's rehearsal, and we all had a great time. Across the street from the Hilton, this was our Go To for fun coffee drinks and fantastic morning pastries. It's also a very popular place in general so be prepared to wait a few minutes. They also have breakfast/bagel sandwiches if you are looking for something more than just a sweet pastry to start your day. Fun vibe, good service... these folks are non-stop motion to get orders our in a timely fashion. Seating is first come, first serve. This place is magic. They turn plain white flour into incredible backed goods. They are part baker and part magician. Best bagel that I've had anywhere and I've had some good ones. Their pastries are delectable. There's a line in the morning so get there and queue up. And oh their cappuccino is perfect! Love Bear's Cup. My only complaint? It's a 3 1/2 hour journey from my home. I have cruised by the location at Broadway and Route 50 several times on the weekend and was unable to find a parking spot, but on Thursday at 8 am there was no problem. A plain croissant was excellent and a fine example of proper lamination. A raspberry-pecan-chocolate chip scone had barely enough flour to hold it together and was more like a cookie. I think the latter is a rotating specialty. There are also savory items and bagels with toppings for those looking for a breakfast meal. There's ample seating if you want to get coffee and linger. There is an intrusive ambient soundtrack however which is a pet peeve of mine. We shouldn't need audio support to eat our bagels read more

Okay so another 3.5 experience! This place was slammed, really loud and complete with a super long line. If it wasn't like Grand Central Station on a Monday morning it would have been rustic and charming. The service was great though! She answered all of my questions and wasn't the least annoying. She suggested things to order based on popularity which was nice of her! And she informed me that yes, all of the pastry was made in house! That's a win for me. Now if only said food lived up to said hype. My chai latte was okay, neither good nor bad. The croissant that dressed my sandwich was undercooked, it was still doughy. The sandwich itself didn't taste like much. I really liked the spinach and feta danish though, that was well seasoned and tasty! We went and braved the 30 minute line because we'd heard mixed reviews and wanted to check it out. The chai was like any other chai around. The matcha with vanilla was very good..a tad sweet for me but good matcha flavor. The plain bagel with plain cream cheese was very good--just as a bagel should be: crispy yet chewy. The blueberry muffin, however, was straight bread pudding. It definitely didn't have a muffin consistency. While it was tasty, it also had a faint blueberry flavor for the amount of blueberries--maybe they used frozen blueberries? So while I enjoyed, if you want a muffin this is not for you. This was a really happening place on a Sunday morning. The order line was out of the door and all tables were full. I ordered an everything bagel with lox and a sesame bagel with egg whites, cheese and turkey sausage with two ice coffees and everything was totally delicious. This place is so good that I excitedly drive the 30 minutes from our house twice per week to go here and get us breakfast. The place is incredible. I'll start by saying that we haven't had a single thing here that we didn't love. The baked goods and sweet treats are to die for. Then add on the breakfast menu which includes my favorite, the New Yorker, lox on a bagel with cream cheese and the works. The best I have had in the area. Then add on that any of their coffees can come in QUART size. Incredible. The staff is always extremely kind, happy, and all work very hard which you love to see. This is an easy 5 star rating. My mind is boggled when I drive down broadway and see people actually choosing to go to Uncommon Grounds or even Starbucks , when this place is literally down the street. Ok wow. Earlier this morning my daughter drove to Bear's cup for breakfast and returned with a bagel sandwich for dear old dad. A plain but incredibly tasty bagel, lox, cream cheese and capers with a touch of dill. Folks i'm not exaggerating when I say this was without a doubt the best bagel sandwich I have ever had and that includes the ones down in the city. The line moved very quickly all though it was quite long! The door was almost out the door. Yet, plenty of staff to keep things moving I purchased a bear claw, a plain croissant, an almond croissant, and 2 bagels with coffee.. my husband and I shared these over the next two days. I've known about Bear's Cup as their original and seasonal location is up in Bolton Landing. I have always wanted to stop in but for one reason or another I never made it there. Imagine my excitement when I heard that they would have a big and beautiful location right here in downtown Saratoga, wow! I contained myself and waited a few weeks past their opening date so I could stop on in. They have a parking lot attached to their store as well as available street parking which is really convenient. They do sell out of their baked goods early, so you want to get there ideally when they open. On the morning of my visit, I street parked and joined a small line a few minutes after they opened. This allowed me to soak in their beautifully decorated and aesthetic space, as well as decide on what I wanted to order. The decision was not easy as everything smelled and looked delectable. However, I could not wait to get my hands on their almond croissant, bear claw and bagel. For good measure I also left with a pain au chocolat as well as a cappuccino. I was most blown away by the texture of their bagels which had a nice chew and yet were soft on the inside without being too doughy. Their almond croissant and bear claw was outstanding and some of the best I have ever had. That's saying a lot as it brought me back to bake shops that I have enjoyed both in Belgium and Germany, yum! I know some may say that their goodies are on the pricier side but you can't measure artisanal quality and the love you taste in their baked goods. You really have to try it, to understand. Consider treating yourself now and again or as often as possible to something so special. You will have no regrets, I promise. read more

Bears Cup is my new obsession!! We went last week and they were out of almost everything except the spinach & feta croissant and the best pistachio latte I've ever had. I couldn't stop thinking about that croissant or latte all week, so I asked my husband to go back this weekend. This place is something special, the pastries and coffee are absolutely out of this world amazing. The flakiest, buttery, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside croissant I've ever had. The bagel was well seasoned with plenty of homemade veggie cream cheese. The iced pistachio latte with vanilla cold foam was worth the extra lactate I needed to take to drink it. The apple cup was a flaky croissant with custard and apple compote. The fruit and cheese danish was excellent with a smooth cheese filling inside a crispy pastry with fresh fruit. The Saratoga location on Broadway by the corner of 50 & 29 has a decent size parking lot. There is some seating inside, just know It is Really loud, and has been totally packed each time we were there. the BEST BAKERY I've ever had, and I'm saying this as an nyc girlie who has a sweet tooth. The ambiance and decor, just amazing. The service, even better. And the foods, heavenly!!! Came on a snowy cold day and wasn't too crowded, felt very homey and ordered bear claw (9/10) almond croissant (11/10) and BEC classic on croissant (11/10)! All of them was SO GOOD I had to come back again right before I left town on Sunday but sadly came at 8:15 and already ran out of almond croissants because their almond paste didn't cook well enough and they gave us free upgrade substitution, it really warmed my heart because we had already ordered, nothing else can be done, and I was really looking forward to eating it one last time and bringing one home. Obviously it doesn't replace what I actually wanted but the service was so understanding!! And the food the second time, still amazing!! My new go to if I could come here all the time! I even looked at a cute card they had by the ordering table and the server asked did you want me to punch that for you and confused because I had no idea what it was! Went on opening weekend and there was a line out the door. This is clearly one of the new hot spots in Saratoga, and everyone wants to post it on Instagram. By the time I got to the register, many items were sold out and I waited about an hour--but it was opening weekend, and Saratoga has clearly been waiting for them. We got there right when it opened. While there were a ton of people, it seemed like things were moving efficiently. Staff were friendly and seemed to be enjoying being there. Despite the crowd, it was a pleasant atmosphere to sit and eat inside. We aurally ate 2x over the weekend. The first day, I got the BEC. It was a touch greasy from all the cheese and butter and bacon but in a yummy way. My mom got a bear claw. The next day, I went with the New Yorker (minus tomato) and cinnamon roll chai (iced, less sweet). My mom picked the BLT. We got some treats to bring home- double chocolate croissant and coffee cage muffin. There was lots of salmon and the flavor and quality were terrific so I felt the price was justified. My mom loved her BLT. The drinks are expensive but it was a tasty splurge. The pastries were a touch on the dry side. It wasn't completely perfect but we were pleased overall. This is definitely where we will be eating breakfast again in Saratoga. Amazing !!!!! Service is down to a science to get orders out as fast as they do. We order toasted bagels, plain and everything both toasted and with veggie cream cheese. The bagels were made to perfection soft on the inside. Chewy and delicious. The cream cheese was soft and full of veggies in every bite. We wanted a bear claw but by 11 am they were sold out. We got the chocolate croissant instead and we were not disappointed. Large in size soft and flakey and chocolaty.
