Spot Coffee has been consistent since we arrived to New York. This was our nearest coffee stop as we hibernated in our airbnb when us Californians made the move to Upstate NY (what?! Crazy I know). However since we have been coming to SPOT we've never had an issue with our drinks, and the food is actually great! On top of everything else the staff are beyond friendly. My husband works right across the street and the barista who always works in the AM memorized his order (it's the small things that make a difference!). On top of that-their kitchen is not bad! I've had their chicken dumpling soup, sourdough breakfast Sammy's, and their turkey melts. However their BCE Bagel Sandwiches take the top prize. Idk what it is--but the toasted bagel sandwich comes piping hot every TIME and you get the perfect bite of CRISP, cheese pull, and bacon...the perfect AM treat. I had a few hours between classes and needed a quiet place with good coffee to sit and work. This is my first experience with Spot Coffee Cafe. I ordered a small Spiced cookie latte with regular milk, and one pump of each syrup rather than two of each their recipe calls for. I wanted almond milk or oat but both are sweetened at this coffee shop. I also ordered a day old cinnamon scone. The staff are kind, friendly, and super fast. The place had a moderate amount of patrons at the time, around 11am. I easily found a comfy leather love seat with a table in front, and an outlet handy. My latte was lovely, sweet but not too much so. The scone was great, not dry, despite being day old. I will def come here again!! read more

Ordered my coffee and bagel, menu looks great. Batista and Cashier saying my order could give someone diabetes and said it was "diabetes in a cup" also over hearing them yelling curse words. I love supporting local businesses and try to go to multiple every weekend. Tried Spot for the first time and it was ok. The coffee was weak and when ordering we ordered a medium and large for iced drinks and both were the same size. We were told they were changing their sizes and will only have two available sizes starting 1/20/25. Service was friendly but a tad slow for them being very slow, staff was a little distracted by eachother. Coffee wasn't good enough for me drive 30 mins to give another try. read more

I had no idea this was a chain. It reminds me of Panera Bread, but with more atmosphere and personality. Lunch here really hit the spot for me. But it's kind of ironic to me that the word "Coffee" is in their business name, because for me their coffee was the least interesting part of my lunch. It was actually rather bland - maybe to tempt you to buy a flavor shot? If I were a snarky person, I'd say get a large coffee to go from one of the coffee shops on Broadway, and walk with it over here to get your food. But I am, of course, not snarky like that. In reality, I'll try other coffees and teas and such on their menu until I find something I like better. The porch is a relaxing place to dine and to do some people watching. I never would have believed, decades ago, that I'd eventually be saying you could people-watch in Saratoga at the corner of Railroad and Division. That's more of a testament to how much Saratoga has changed over the years. My lunch was the chicken pesto panini, with the greens instead of chips for the side. The panini was very well prepared, and the portion of greens was generous as well as flavorful. If you're coming here for lunch, expect a bit of a wait for your meal between 12-1. I got there about 11:55, and it only took about 5 minutes to prepare my meal. Someone across the aisle from me, who came in 20 minutes later and ordered something similar, had to wait at least 3 times as long for his meal. The bathroom needs to be tended to more frequently. The floor needed a sweeping and mopping, and it was starting to smell a bit. It's not good PR to have a maintenance sheet on the wall, use the rest room at 12:30, and see that no one marked off checking on the bathroom at 8AM, 10AM or noon. I'd like to give this place a 4th star. What's it gonna take? More aromatic coffee and a less aromatic rest room. read more

If you're beyond the basics of a Starbucks or Uncommon Grounds and you're looking for a lot more food offerings and even a greater number of drink options beyond what Kru Koffee has, this might be your jam. They have lots and lots and lots of food options here, both breakfast and lunch (from multiple waffle variants, to bagel breakfast sandwich basics, pastries, omelettes, and even pizzas). Also, they have lots of coffee and caffeinated bevs from which to draw!!! Cherry mocha? Cool. Love their sugar station as it actually also has bottled honey, almond milk, soy milk, cocoa powder, plus all the regular accompaniers like whole milk, Splenda, raw Hawaiin sugar etc. Is their coffee good? Well, I liked mine. Prices cheaper than Starbucks. No free refills though. Wife liked her capuccino too...stop in a try out your fave caffeinated bev on your own and decide for yourself homeskillet! Coffee is subjective...you already know this. One bathroom, open to both men and women and it seems like it gets a lot of use. As I write this review they are running a 5 dollar breakfast waffle special on weekends until 6 pm; several sweet and savory waffles to choose from! (see my pics) Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Yeah, I know this place is a chain, but imo it's a big step up over both Uncommon Grounds and Starbucks due to all the food items on their menu. WiFi is free and strong (as it always should be), but limited outlets for you to plug your electronica into, so finding an outlet may feel like you just found the Holy Grail; be prepared for disappointment, especially if it's a weekend morning. Only thing I don't like about this place is the layout. The main cash register is near a support column so when a line forms, it's very difficult to walk through from one side of the place to the other (like if you're trying to go to the sugar station or the restroom). Additionally, it's not at all an open floor plan. It's almost like 4 weirdly shaped and segregated rooms that are all a part of the same joint. So bizarre, it just has zero flow and don't work for me at all. No roominess to the place either, though you can grab a window table and people stalk if that's your thing...weirdo creeper that you are. read more

I am disabled and I have an invisible disability and I brought my service dog who is registrars with me to spot coffee ! Spot coffee use to be my favorite place to go I got there early to meet someone Bc I was trying to get a sofa by the window but there was a girl there on a laptop I didn't want to disturb her so I sat on the sofa with my service dog on the sofa by the registrar all the employees were petting my dog and loving my dog and I was ok with it Bc my dog is super friendly and he was taking a break usally I don't let people pet him Bc he is working ! Anyways after I bought a 17 dollar outrageously priced sandwich and gave a 20 percent tip !!!! Bc I figured they were all being so nice to me and my dog some guy comes in spends 3 dollars on a cup on joe and says your gonna let that dog on the sofa by the way my dog doesn't shed and he gets groomed regularly he prob cleaner than the guy who said that ! After that all bets were off the staff started being super rude to me and my dog the manager came over and said I am not gonna ask you to leave but you dog has to get off the sofa ! No problem I said and I put him in his stroller ! Then my friend text she was on the way ! I then took him out side to go to the bathroom ! Then I used the restroom inside ! Then the sofa by the window open it was quiet over there and my friend was coming and I prefer to sit over there my dog was now sleeping in his stroller and I had taken a call on my cell and another barista came over to me and said I am sorry but now we're gonna have to ask you to leave right after my friend got there and ordered more food ! Why would I have to leave ? My dog didn't bark my dog didn't bite anyone and my dog didn't go to the bathroom inside ! There pet policy clearly states on the door if your dog is well behaved it can stay ! So I guess they lie ! Then he said ok ! Then his manger comes out and stares me down ! SPoT is a promising new addition to the downtown Saratoga coffee and casual eating scene that will probably climb to five stars in time. Located in a sleek glass-enclosed space in the new Price Chopper multi-use building, it's an outpost of a Toronto-based chain that has several shops in western NY. Menu (nothing in writing available yet) includes breakfast items, several focaccia sandwiches, wraps, main dish salads and various munchies including hummus "with sticks" (breadsticks?) and sweets. I had the signature Mike breakfast sandwich and the day's special salad, a mesclun with various cheeses and nuts and a balsamic dressing; grilled pieces of the focaccia were served on the side. Both were excellent and generous in proportion. My Mike was two over-easy eggs, perfectly cooked, served with cream cheese and melted provolone on (at the cook's suggestion) a plain bagel. You can add meat if you like to make it a complete meal. The sweets include pastries baked on the premises (I have my eye on the caramel bar for next time), a few croissants and other baked goods from "a local bakery" (Mrs. London's?) and fancy cakes from Rochester Wedding Cakes. There are also individual and medium pizza (dough is pressed out on order; the one I saw had a pretty sturdy crust but maybe they will make a thin crust if you ask) and of course coffee which will be the topic of my update but they have a big-time espresso machine so my expectations are high. The opening day jitters included some slowness in service and over-loud soundtrack, easily solved, and something that will be a bigger challenge: a massive pillar right in front of the ordering area, courtesy of the building contractor. I predict they'll move the cashier to what is now the pickup area and have two pickup areas at either end of the long counter. read more

Now I would not be writing this review if this didn't happen to me x2 IN A ROW. Both times I ordered food to-go a quality ingredient that I paid extra money for is missing. The other day I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and when I got my order, no bacon (which was extra money that I paid). Today I ordered two salads, chicken caeser and Greek. Well what do you know, no chicken on the salad. I paid $15 for lettuce and stale croutons. For the Greek salad, half of the mixed greens were slimy and inedible. What a waste of money. This was definitely not the Spot for us to stop for a Coffee while we killed time before our movie started a couple of blocks away. That's all we were interested in purchasing - a cup of good coffee for each of us. Yes, there were many other things in the café if you were looking for something to eat, but we were expecting a Coffee Café to offer a variety of Coffees from a variety of beans. We let a customer go ahead of us while we looked at every sign posted in search of the different Coffees that were available for purchase. There was a listing of different preparations that the barrister could concoct, but no enumeration of various beans that the barrister would allow you to choose from. Eventually, we spied a placard directly on the counter where you place your order that was promoting a single origin bean - Papua New Guinea. We asked if that was the only coffee that they were selling. We were informed that they also sell their House Blend. So there were actually only two different coffees available. I asked which was darker and was informed that the House Blend was a medium roast while the Papua New Guinea was lighter. So my wife ordered a cup of the Papua New Guinea while I tried the House Blend. We both drink our coffee black. While we could distinguish the difference between the two, neither had much flavor, body or depth. We've both had Papua New Guinea in the past from different purveyors and enjoyed it. We were both very disappointed with the limited offerings here and the experience of the coffees we purchased. read more

Spot is one of my favorite places to do work in down town Saratoga. It's off broadway so remains a bit quieter than coffee shops on the main strip. There are a good number of tables and two couches as well as free WiFi. However, the tables are mostly located in the outer 'sun room' which either can be too hot or too cold within the span of an hour. They have heat lamps set up but they go in cycles. Spot has a large range of drink and food options. They are a bit pricey for what is served. While there food is good it isn't spectacular and compared to other places in town seems a bit expensive for how simple it is. read more

Got to the cafe, mostly empty. The cashier was struggling with handling a gift card transaction for the person in front of us. The manager explained that they had a mix of cards that were and were not valid and they had to just try until they found a good one.. When it was our turn I started to order breakfast. The manager, who was now on the phone, cut me off mid order and wrote a note "no eggs." When he got off the phone he explained that a bunch of online orders had just come in and they didn't have the capacity to serve us. read more

We really like the atmosphere here! They have some couches to lounge on while enjoying a coffee. They have heat lamps in their "outdoor" glass section, which makes it cozy and relaxing. However, it is sometimes difficult to find seating. It is also a bit pricey. A small latte, a small bagged tea, and a little fudge fancy cookie was $10. That's downtown Toga for you!! $$$ We have never tried their food here, so we can't comment on that, but they do offer $5 waffles all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Not impressed. I went to the Saratoga location because I have previously been to the Glens falls location and enjoyed the mocha shake. I ordered the same thing at the Saratoga location and it was a completely different drink. It claims to be a chocolate shake but there is no ice cream in it at all. It's all ice and the ice isn't even fully blended. My fiancé had whole cubes in his drink. The price for what it is is outrageous. It was $5.65 for a large and the whole thing is just ice and coffee. On top that it took 7-10 minutes to get our drinks and no one else was waiting. I will not be back at this location. Maybe I'll try Glens falls again. read more

Saturday 2/29/20. 1:30pm. Ordered our drinks - waited for 7 minutes for drinks and finally realized they weren't even being made (couldn't really tell since the "barista" was chatting with friends at counter). When they finally cleared out, I asked "are our drinks being made" and the "barista" said "I don't have any drink orders, did you order?" I answered her insulting question with "yes, several minutes ago". She responded "what did you order"- like there was some onus of proof on my part. Went to table to get receipt & came back as another employee was pulling the ticket off their printer that had been there the entire time. A simple apology would have sufficed - but instead this "barista" indignantly made our drinks, never even saying sorry or even thanks. Used to toggle between here and Uncommon Grounds. This "barista" just made our lives easier - never again have to make a choice. Will NEVER patronize here again. Uncommon Grounds it is! read more

I don't understand why some of the reviews are so low. I really enjoyed my visit to Spot! I came with family, and we ate the black bean corn quesadilla and hummus wrap. Both were delicious, although I preferred the hummus wrap. It was delicious with fresh flavorful vegetables, and the salad was also great! Just down the street from work, I occasionally frequent this place for something quick, like soup. Today, I'm finally reviewing it and giving it a low rating because it took FOREVER to get the soup out! You just scoop and put the lid on it, right? There were four people working. 1 guy was behind the counter cutting pickles for almost 10 minutes (yes, I stared and counted down the time)--every slow cut of each pickle made me cringe. I absolutely adore this place. I work up the street on Broadway at Circus Café/Juice Bar so you would think I would just pop over next door to Uncommon Grounds right? No! I take the extra time to visit Spot Coffee whenever I can. I always have had timely and friendly service, and the food/coffee is delicious! What I have tried: 1) margharita pizza- love love love! I get the spicy tomato sauce and ask for it well done and I can't help but burn my mouth trying to eat the pizza the second after I get it. Just make sure you have some napkins nearby, it can be a little messy (might have stained my car trying to eat it on the way home... *le sigh*). 2) Affogato- or something like that...Basically it was a shot of espresso over vanilla ice cream and caramel. Beware, if you order this it will come in a regular shot glass. I didn't realize this, and had to have them redo it as a to go order. Delicious, scrumptious, amazing. 3) Omelet- When I have the money (and the time) I make sure to start my day off right with one of their omelets. Worth every penny. They are fluffy, filled, and utterly satisfying. As a person who really appreciates their eggs any which way, I can't get enough of this. It also comes with bread (usually get the wheat focaccia) which I love as well. 4) Lemon bar- nom nom nom is all I have to say! 5) Croissants- Melts in your mouth is the best way I can describe them. Although my favorite is a multigrain one which apparently was a mistake so I am not sure if they are going to make it again. If you are in the area definitely give it a try! My wife and I had not been to Spot in over a year because it was inconsistent. Stopped by last week to try it again, and had a great breakfast. Stopped by again, this time on the weekend. The line cook during the week, a young man, was not there, and one of the young ladies cooked our order. First time the omelette came out in a blender looking heap on the plate with her apologies, I asked her to make it again. Second time it came out with the spinach and tomatoes embedded on the outside of the omelette. No time for retry. This morning I phoned over to Spot and asked if the guy was on as line cook today since it was a holiday. The response from the young lady was "why do you care"?. The next minute or so she refused to answer the question, and kept repeating "there is a line cook". This was not about gender discrimination, but the young man was an excellent cook, it is a legitimate question when you're paying a lot of money for cooked meals. I just hung up. Rude and very weird, could be the same person that made the omelette on Saturday. I give this place 3 stars for being very good when an experienced cook is there. For $25 bucks for breakfast for 2, it needs to be that way all the time. Very disappointing. read more

I was actually headed to Starbucks this morning when I drove by this establishment. I have been here a couple of times before and it wasn't too bad. Today was different. I love dark roast coffee and that is what I always order. I gave my order and it was brought over promptly. The cup was just a little over 3/4 full. I did not say leave room for cream for that reason. I tasted the coffee when I got in the car and I don't know what it was but definitely not what I ordered. I hope that's not what they call dark roast. I drove directly to Starbucks, dumped that coffee and got what I should have gotten in the first place. Maybe I am spoiled by Starbucks and Death Wish so I will stick to what I know is good. read more

Was going to give 5 stars because food/coffee was great and service was great. Place was clean and I saw staff wiping down tables and counters. However, as I was sitting there I witnessed one of the line staff yelling at a customer bc a waffle was burned. The customer was calm and trying to say she'd still take it and the worker wouldn't let the customer get a word in. I'm not sure if the worker thought the customer couldn't hear or if there were noises behind the wall I couldn't hear but it was rude none-the-less. I'll return as I had a great experience but staff should calm down and allow the customer to speak before getting in a tiffy. read more

Terrible experience this morning! There was a line of about 6 people when I arrived and a girl working the register who was clearly new, she was being "trained" from afar by another staff, who seemed to be the supervisor on duty. She was doing a great job, but the line obviously was moving more slowly than usual. No big deal, we were all patient. When it was my turn, I tried to order a breakfast wrap, but they were out of an ingredient. Ok, make that an egg sandwich on an everything bagel, but they were out of everything bagels. No problem, put it on a plain bagel. And also ordered an omelette (veggie, add avocado, white toast), all to go. I moved down to the pick up area and waited (yes, patiently). I took a seat, did not hover over the counter, did not stare down the cook. The place was not packed, no more line and a half dozen tables with people who were mostly already eating. One other customer was waiting for pick up after me. I waited over 20 minutes. When my name was called, I opened the container to make sure they remembered the avocado, and noticed they had not. Ok, easy fix, asked the cook for the avocado, he was very nice and accomodating. Then I noticed it was wheat toast, ok I can work with that even though it's not my preference. THEN I noticed the omelette had ham in it. That I cannot work with. So, after confirming with the cook that this was a western omelette and he had made me the wrong thing, I said "ok, well I've been here over a half an hour, so I really need to get going. I'll take the sandwich, and you can just refund me for the omelette". The cook says you'll have to talk to that guy, the guy supervising at the ordering counter. I go back over there, wait a few seconds for him to finish his conversation with the trainee, asked the new customer who just stepped up to the counter to pardon me for one moment, and asked the supervisor to refund my omelette because I had gotten the wrong thing. He asked me to step aside while he waited on other customers. I replied I had been there for over 30 minutes and just needed my refund on their error. He then says I need to step aside, and he will need to verify the omelette error. At this point my patience is done. It's an open kitchen! The cook is standing 6 unobstructed feet from him! I say "he's right there and HE is the one who just told me it's the wrong omelette!! And I really need to get to work!". All I got was a stern and condescending "Ma'ammmm....". Nope, no thank you, I no longer need to be your customer. You can keep my money, my time is not yours to waste. How about an I'm so sorry, I'll take care of that for you? An apology, some accountability, even a hair of empathy? Nope, I got a snippy directive and a bad attitude. Zero customer appreciation. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, I understand the challenges, I am aware that Covid related issues have caused staffing and supply shortages. I know how to be patient and respectful. This shop does not. I am still a customer, and we still have options. I live across the street from Spot and had been going there basically out of convenience. But there are several other independently owned coffee shops and breakfast spots within a couple of blocks, and I will now enjoy bringing my business there. read more
