The bagel was delicious and fully stuffed with cream cheese or whatever else you order in it! There Matcha was good, the coffee was good. Everything was amazing about this place. Uncommon Grounds had all the makings of a fine sit n' sip: high ceilings, superfluous interior arches, mildly darkened aesthetic, tin ceiling tiles, and an abundance of screamin' local artistry dressing up the joint. Brothers and sisters... I was stoked about the possibility of churning out some real Aldi-grade literature at one of the chunky timber perches. I was ready for a slammin cup of joe and a sick-ish vibe. Alas, all I got from behind the counter was a jersey stuffed with caustic disdain and affected arrogance. It was impressive in that the tone, delivery, volume and words were all brilliantly matched in conveying unmistakable I-wish-you'd-get-the-flip-outta-my-space-clappery. I know the exact phrasing and such would go a long way here, but the whole dang affected setup I received from the other side of the counter would be hella exhausting to recount. And not worth my time. To be clear, my time really ain't worth all that much. Now I could go on to tell you about the rest of the experience, the quality of the bagels and the consistency of the schmear, and the tones you'll find playing throughout the house-roasted brews. But as a journeyman writer in the café world, I'm not gonna waste any more descriptors on the brat-infused tea steeping at the front of house. Why? Simply because cafés are more than the drink and grub. Cafés are as solid an offering of what culture Earth has to offer across its varied continents, countries, and street corners. They are something to engage with and experience directly. Like riding a scooter across Vietnam. Like a Moroccan food market. Like wiping volcanic ash off your hiking boots after a day's hike in Cinder Cone. If the human engagement of the place is reprehensible, then in IMHO the treats and steeps don't matter. Disappointments happen. That's for sure. But I'm only gonna spend two more sentences telling you what you probably already gathered about this place. It's slippin' baby. It's slippin'.

Finally braved the line and tried Bear's Cup (usually we eat at Sunrise Cafe across the street)…read more Given that the lines are long I'd say you can find pretty comparable things across the street at Sunrise, like ice coffee and lattes, pastries and egg sandwiches. The coffee here is a bit fancier though, that's all. But the real difference is the bagels. Bear's Cup is serving up a thick and fluffy New York style bagel. I'm not sure if you can find that anywhere else in Bolton. When my kids want a bagel and CC for breakfast it definitely makes sense to come here over Sunrise!

We use it as a quick and less pricey bfast option when we're staying at the Sagamore. You need to get there before it even opens (8am) if you want a decent spot in line otherwise you're probably waiting awhile depending when you get there. I loveeee the bacon or sausage egg & cheese on a bagel or just bagel + butter. They have had some mix-ups at times but they are usually forgiving for them if you mention it (i.e. sesame rather than everything bagel). The pastries are all fantastic but you MUST get the BEAR CLAW!!!- chocolate almond crissont. I dream of this thing until I finally return in the summer and we make sure we always have one extra in the fridge while there lol. Besides little mix-ups and the wait, only other negative I can think of is it would be nice if they had some tables there rather than just to-go. Ok ending this review by repeating.... BEAR CLAW!!!!! MUST!!

Stopped by for coffee and a quick breakfast sandwich on our way out of town. Parking lot was nearly full but it's shared w a smoothie place and other businesses. That being said, almost everyone was at UG and for good reason. The line was out the door when we got inside. I was discouraged and ready to angrily wait, but I was wrong! The line moved quickly and a staff were friendly for a busy morning. I had the summer blend hot and wife had an iced latte. The hot coffee was tasty. Low acidity, smooth and balanced. Only complaint was that it could have been just a click hotter for me. I don't necessarily want to burn my esophagus, but this was only lukewarm. The iced latte was delicious. We each had an egg sandwich on a bagel and they were terrific. Soft and chewy bagel with plenty of flavor. We took a couple cookies home from the case and Oh Em Geeeeee! Phenomenal! Now I regret not getting the bag of yesterday's bagels at the door. Even "day old" I bet these things are great!

Uncommon Grounds nails it on both counts and is a great spot to get a little work done to boot. Stopped by this location when I was in the area for some coffee and breakfast. I'm usually in search of sugar free options as well as milk alternatives. Uncommon Grounds had a couple sugar free options (yay! caramel and vanilla) and a few different milk alternatives. I got a caramel latte made with almond milk and it was dreamy. For my breakfast, I got the Mediterranean breakfast sandwich on a salt bagel. It came with egg, spinach, avocado, tomato, and a bit of pesto. Delicious! The only tiny thing for me was the tomato made the sandwich kinda slippery and difficult to eat so the next time I ordered it (which was literally the next day), I got it with double the spinach and no tomato. The service was really lovely and the prices are reasonable. They're a popular spot and were pretty busy when I was in and even with that everyone was so kind and helpful. Get to it!

I'm not likely to be awake and out of the house with a thirty minute drive early enough to score the purchase of any. However, my wife had recently just heard about Pearl's, and we happened to be passing in the neighborhood thirty minutes before their 2 PM closing. Yes, they were still open, and no, they didn't have any bagel's left. In fact, that was the very first thing the clerk announced as we came through the door. "We are sold out of bagels and cannot make any sandwiches." As we looked at the small display case we saw four different pastries on a plate. My wife asked what they were and chose two. One was a strawberry marshmallow muffin and the other was some kind of brownie combination ($11 for the two). Once we returned home we were ready to share them. The muffin was super fresh, soft, and very enjoyable. But we didn't believe that there was a strong strawberry flavor and neither of us detected a marshmallow flavor. It didn't matter! This was a delicious muffin no matter what the flavor was supposed to be. The brownie "thing" might have been what their website menu calls a "Featured Daily Brownie." This looked like they used their challah dough to roll up around brownie mix like you would make a cinnamon roll with cinnamon/sugar instead of the brownie mix. Whatever, it was a total success. It was delicious with two different chewy textures and lots of flavor. Maybe some day my wife or I will have to be in Albany around 9 AM and get to try the bagels.
