I can confirm for those who prefer to work in cafes, that Kru is a most excellent place to study and work on a project. I think I shared in my last review that the decor is akin to a rustic retreat. I highly recommend Kru for drinks, the treats, the vibe, and the many, many electrical outlets. It is like they structured this coffee house with people like me in mind. Today I had the Godfather (espresso, mocha, chai, and something else). This drink is quite yummy. I also had the spicy vegetarian egg sandwich which was so tasty. I would get this same combo next time. Like last time, the staff are just great. So the next time I use vacation time to work on my research, Kru will see me. This place is a gem.

Stopped here on a road trip and decided to stop again on the way back. First time on Sunday afternoon (quiet) and second Thursday around 10-the place was hopping. Spacious interior with more seating on the second level as well a smaller outdoor seating area. We ordered a Strawberry Matcha (seasonal) and Nutella Latte -cold. Both were tasty with subtle notes of Strawberry and Nutella-not the overpowering sugar flavor you can get with some flavored drinks. Second time it was the Godfather. Never had a mix of Chai and Espresso so why not? Interesting mix and the Chai won the battle with the espresso and mocha complimenting. Would I order again? Maybe-that said, definitely one to try. Grabbed a Maple Pecan Scone-delicious! Service was friendly and upbeat on both our visits. Family owned and looks like they have a couple of other locations in NY and VT. If in the Saratoga Springs area, make this stop!

Kru is a great spot for studying and chatting with friends! I've come here a couple of times to do work and it's been a great place to be productive. The overall set up of the cafe is so cute with lots of chairs and tables to do work at. It is super popular so it does get noisy with the chatter and music but it also makes sense for a place that has really great coffee and food! I'm a big fan of their scones, sandwiches, and specialty coffees but they also have a great selection of beans to get too. I would have loved to try their muffin but those were gone quick so I'll definitely have to be back. The cashier was also super sweet and everything was made quickly and well.

Such a cute place to get your coffee! There's a lot of seating inside as there is also an upstairs to sit. Love how they also have seasonal menus for cute creations! The drinks also come out super fast!

My first time there a couple of days ago, just for a cold drink. Couldn't decide what to get until I saw "Cardi Bee Latte". Espresso, honey and cardamom. YUM !! A lot of choices too. I'll be back!

I love this place. The seasonal coffee selection is on point and the decor is so cozy. Only one barista taking orders and making drinks so it was a little slow but it's such a nice place that I didn't mind. The food looked great and although I would have loved to try a pastry they had few left and no big selection. Next time!

Got matcha latte and a breakfast sandwich. Wasn't expecting the English muffin to be crunchy and soft, it was really good. The matcha latte also not too sweet, which I really like.

Biscuit sandwich with bacon/egg white/cheese. Best biscuit I've ever had. I wish I bought some to take home.

When on vacation, I always want to try as many places and restaurants as possible. So imagine my surprise when there was literally no where else I could imagine getting breakfast from three times in one trip to Saratoga. Best. Breakfast. Ever. I think about their biscuits often and wish frequently for the biscuit breakfast sandwich with egg whites, bacon and cheese. My husband got the croissant breakfast sandwich with spicy aioli, too, and immediately asked when he could have another one each time. And we're born and raised in New Jersey so we know a good breakfast sandwich when we have one ... these are among the best we've ever had. And the coffee... you can tell how much effort and thought they put into their craft. The Nitro Cold Brew and Nitro Latte (with vanilla) were our go-to's. I miss everything about this place and hope to visit again one day soon

This is our neighborhood coffee place. We came every morning. They have a$$-kicking Sammies. Gluten-free bread (not for L2+ celiacs), veggie-friendly. Keto friends love the bullets. You walk in, they know you, your neighbor is there, you see your Zumba teacher... when there are lines of tourists, you feel annoyed... it's comforting. We are moving to a new city and DAMN ... I feel like I will never find this very special place. Luckily my horse and close friends are still here, forcing me to return!!!

I really enjoyed my Nutella latte and chocolate croissant. They were super busy but I didn't feel rushed, and my drink came out quickly.

We had the dark roast and would have thought it would be a little more robust in flavor but it wasn't. It seemed a bit weak like not enough coffee used or the roast wasn't roasted dark enough. The service was great however so that was a plus. Nice and friendly staff all the way around. There were a lot of locals there so it seems to do a decent business. But to be honest, it's the only coffee house in town. The place seemed a bit dark and dirty. The exhaust system must be not working or not strong enough because the entire place smelled of what ever was being cooked on the griddle. We sat upstairs and our eyes watered the entire time we were there. The odor got on our clothes and stuck with us until we got home. Their restroom wasn't clearly marked and was kind of hidden back by the kitchen area. It was also very dark where it was located. A little more light all the way around would be helpful. The concept and decor is a great idea but it felt more like what we use to call a "greasy spoon" restaurant than a quaint coffee house. It won't take much to make it better but as it is, can't say much good about the experience it Iron Coffee Co. I hope they take this review in a positive light as there really isn't much that needs to be done to make it a very special place to go for coffee. Note: We didn't have anything to eat so can't comment on that.

If you're the kind of person who genuinely loves coffee -- not just "needs caffeine," but…read moreappreciates what it can be when someone actually gives a damn -- Upstate Coffee is the place. This isn't one of those generic "we have espresso and oat milk" spots where everything tastes like it came off a corporate checklist. This is coffee that feels intentional. Like someone is behind it, obsessing over every detail so your cup comes out right. What makes Upstate Coffee special isn't just that it tastes incredible (it does), it's the fact that the owner cares in a way that's rare now. You can tell immediately this isn't a business built around shortcuts or trends -- it's built around pride, discipline, and hospitality. The type of person who isn't satisfied unless the product is perfect, and who treats customers like people, not transactions. And I don't mean "customer service smile." I mean the kind of care where it's obvious the goal isn't to sell you coffee... it's to serve you something the owner would confidently hand to his closest friends and family and say: "This is the best version of this product I can make." That's the standard. The coffee itself is next-level. The flavors are clean, balanced, and consistent -- not burnt, not bitter, not overly acidic for no reason. It's roasted locally with precision, and you can feel that difference immediately. There's a clarity to the flavor profile that's hard to find unless you're dealing with someone who understands roasting like a craft, not a production line. One of the things I respect most is that this is being done in an organic-certified lab environment, and they take it seriously. That might sound like a "small detail" to some people, but it shows the bigger truth: Upstate Coffee treats the entire process with care -- sanitation, accuracy, consistency, quality control -- like it matters. Because it does. You're not getting a random batch that tastes "close enough." You're getting something deliberately produced with real standards behind it. It's also just a great vibe overall. You can feel that the place is rooted in the community. It doesn't feel like an imported concept -- it feels Upstate, in the best way. Honest, hardworking, quality-first. The owner isn't trying to be flashy. He's trying to be excellent. And those are the businesses worth supporting. Bottom line: Upstate Coffee is the kind of place that raises your standards for what coffee can be. It's crafted with precision, roasted locally, made in a legit organic-certified setting, and backed by an owner who clearly has rare integrity and heart. If you live anywhere nearby and you aren't going here yet, you're missing out. And if you're passing through -- put this on your list. Five stars, without hesitation.
